Closer

Techno guru and Bonzai legend Ben Knoxx returns to Bonzai Basiks with another floor stomping techno joint titled Closer, and to keep the legend theme running (CJ Bolland remixed his last effort here) we have the amazing Oliver Lieb stepping in on remix duties.

The Original is a wonderfully dynamic track that will translate perfectly in the club and on the big festival stages. The kick drums and shuffling hi hats pound out a serious rhythm as cosmic FX litter the sound. Epic style chords tease as the deep rumbling bassline delivers a powerful blow to the low end. Whispering voices add a sinister edge to the groove as well as a very nostalgic vibe. The break reveals a more melodic side which is climaxed with those monster kick drums which lead us back to the main groove. Another stomper from Mr Knoxx that is not to be missed.

The maestro who is Oliver Lieb is up on the remix and he delivers a top-notch slice to give the dancefloor a boost. With an expansive career that started in the 80’s, Oliver shows no signs of letting up anytime soon. More recently his classic track Netherworld was given a makeover on Bonzai Progressive which included an exclusive vinyl release. Here on the remix Oliver delivers a true dark techno treat. Right from the off we are lured in by those superb thumping kick drums and the tension caused by beautifully crafted synths. A low-end rumble from the bassline lays the foundation for a stomping ride while slicing hi hats and cymbals generate a smooth rhythmic flow. Tough, industrialised stabs are greeted with much softer, melodic chords offering stark contrasts that make this an absolute must have for the discerning techno lover.
