A Brief Infinity
Based in Billings, USA, J. Michael Kober debuts on Green Martian with the fantastic tow tracker entitled A Brief Infinity. J. Michael Kober is a relative newcomer to the scene, over the years he has familiarized himself with the technology and techniques that would eventually allow him to develop his sound, a blend of Progressive, Tech and Psy Trance with a focus on deep, dark, aggressive rhythms. A demo sent to JOOF Recordings in early 2010 caught the attention of John 00 Fleming, who featured it as the track of the month on his radio show and promptly signed it to his label, enlisting Magnus for the remix. Subsequent releases performed very well indeed as many top artists began to take notice. His DJ career began in 2009 with a residency on Sense.FM. The Essential Edge aired for over a year before he cancelled it due to creative differences. J. Michael has been very supportive in developing the local scene, working with promoters, using different events and club nights to explore other electronic styles. Much more to come from this guy in the future, well worth keeping an eye on.
A Brief Infinity delivers a solid progressive groove with a probing bassline that stands out brilliantly through the track. A tight drum arrangement and rhythmic percussion sequence dishes out a smooth rhythm as dark synths lurk in the background. An array of quality FX add some very nice textures to the sound and help create the intricate structure of the groove. Various tweaked chords drive the track beautifully and contrast starkly with the more brighter elements. A top notch slice that will not disappoint.
Right from the first few bars we get completely hooked on Cities In The Sand with its underlying Psy progressive groove. A fantastic, solid construction that drives with a fierce edge filled with big, brash sounds that will fill every nook and cranny of the room. Everything about this one screams floorfiller thanks to a chugging bassline and classic sounding synth leads. A sure fire dancefloor destroyer here that is not to be missed.
