Russian producer EmLab delivers his next Green Martian outing with the two tracker Carnatic EP. We last saw him with his debut track Sirenes and more recently on remix duties for Onz!e’s This Is Dream.
First up we have the title track Carnatic with its nice punchy kick led intro with subtle percussive elements in the background. Cool rising FX take us into a bass arp with hair raising note changes as melodies sweep across the sound. The break unleashes a beautifully serene setting as wispy pads ebb and flow. A wonderfully rich plucked melody captivates as it leads us back into that infectious bassline. Top quality stuff yet again that will have you hooked throughout.
Lip Service sets off with a cool low end kick that gets you right in the gut as percussions ease their way into the sound. A short break brings with it a smooth droning bass that meanders through the groove as sharp synth hits rise and fall. A nice steady groove is born and takes us to the break where a slightly darker tone is adopted. Deep bass synths are contrasted with brighter pads resulting in a melancholic flavour. Superb FX bring lots of different textures before getting back to the main track to continue our journey through this wonderfully hypnotic slice of progressive bliss.
