Biography
During the old school hiphop years Rubba J started experimenting with a little drummachine and his guitar in search of funky grooves.
His music, strongly influenced by funk (Prince, Roy Ayers, Herbie Hancock, Azymuth …) merged into deephouse. He teamed up with Marius and started a new deephouse formation called “Deepwater”. Later on Rubba J got together with Koenie & Marius and the producerscollective “Mayaku” was born, with releases on many labels such as Outergaze, Grayhound, … As a solo artist, Rubba J, released EP’s on Brique Rouge, Wally’s Groove World and nowadays goes digital with Eighttrack Recordings, Big Mama and Toto Recordings producing edgy, deep and tech sounds.
