Sri Lanka based up-and-coming electronic music producer Rockka, debuts on Bonzai progressive with the superb, Sacred, which is backed up with two quality remixes. Rockka’s taste for progressive house steered him to learn more about the roots of all thing’s electronic music. He became immersed in underground sounds since 2017 and began to DJ at local parties before he got into producing his own sounds. In just a few short years, he’s amassed a hugely impressive collection of works on labels such as Balkan Connection, Droid9, Old SQL Recordings, AH Digital, Big Bells Records and many more.
The release opens with the Original Mix which settles into a deep, lush progressive vibe after just a few bars. Alongside chunky beats and rhythmic percussions, delicate voices fade up, adding a spiritual narrative before the break reveals strong melodies and more of that enchanting vocal before climaxing to the final act. Top-notch. Up first on remix duties and joining Rockka from Sri Lanka, we have Vegaz SL returning to BP, delivering the goods once again after his debut, Procul EP alongside Hobin Rude. Here, he takes the groove to a higher level with a solid progressive, focussing in on atmospherics and drive. The vocal is overlayed beautifully and marries perfectly with soft melodic arps and swirling pads. The break captures the moment brilliantly before a snare roll climaxes to the drop and that infectious groove continues for the duration. Rounding out the release, Bolivian artist JoC H returns to BP with a stellar remix. His mission remains the same, with one thing on his mind, to transmit his energy into everything he does creating an exciting and amazing experience to his listeners. The interpretation here takes a much deeper, more house orientated route. Chunky basses rise up from the depths as slicing hats and exotic percussions layer up. The voices come through adding space to the groove, creating hair-raising moments that linger throughout. Superb stuff from JoC H.
