Belgian DJ, producer Dennis Caressa debuts on After Dark with a thumping three tracker titled Dark EP. Having been exposed to early acid house and new beat, Dennis soon became infatuated with electronic music. His teenage years were spent at clubs with tribal and techno and, after seeing Sven Väth perform he knew he wanted to be a DJ. Being in a wheelchair did not stop him entering competitions, appearances at several comps earned him respect from the judges and the crowd on several occasions. More gigs followed, in particular, he got on the flyer for Café d’Anvers in Antwerp where met up with his her, Papa Sven. Dennis organised his own parties also, in his local youth club, searching for new talent on the DJ scene. Nowadays he is more into producing music, bringing his own sound through everyday life experiences. Great to have him on board.

Dark Night opens with a pounding kick drum and rampageously sharp hi hats. Eerie FX and distorted alarm sound fill the void, raising the energy levels. The track carries a cinematic appeal, on the breakdown we find an orchestral swell before those heavy kicks return alongside a hypnotic pitched note. Dark, murky, full-on classic hard techno grooves that will not disappoint.

Los Gaan intros with a heavy kick and rolling bass which instantly grabs attention, getting pulses racing. Harsh, distorted hi hats fill in the off-beat as a classic techno style arpeggio fades in. 303 sounds tease and the darker elements start to rise up through the sound. The multi-layered arp climaxes in a frenzied invasion of the senses before the deep groove returns for the duration. An energetically drive slice that is a must for the helter-skelter floors.

Dark Day is a rampaging beast of a tune thanks to those powerful kick drums and the accompanying rolling bassline. Fuelled by energy from the kicks and bass, a solid rhythm forms with sharp hats in tow. Mesmerizing, metallic synths create havoc as multiple sounds converge into a turbulent sequence that dominates the track. The perfect fodder to keep the hard heads grooving, top notch stuff.
