Metronomes are back at Progrez with their fantastic three tracker entitled Madam Butterfly. The guys have been busy since their last offering with a spot on Bonzai Basik Beats and a superb remix on Steve Sai’s Stardust. Here they dig out their best progressive skills once again for a brilliant ride on the progressive highway.
First up we have Madam Butterfly which sets us off with a pulsing bass alongside cool percussive elements before a punchy kick comes slamming in to get the groove into full swing. The bass delivers a deep grooving vibe and is contrasted beautifully with sweet piano licks. The break offers a little respite before the track really gets going on its sublime journey. Various basses combine perfectly and are joined by some mesmerizing synths throughout. Expertly arranged and in your face progressive house that will be a feature on many sets for sure, not to be missed.
Fantasma intros with a droning bass sound alongside crispy hats and is soon joined by a nice and punchy kick. A sub bass begins to bubble up from to the backdrop of some quality FX work which provides lots of beautiful textures. A dark atmosphere is formed as the layers build resulting in a deep progressively charged groove that will work brilliantly in the darker rooms no doubt.
Dead Tourist begins life with a series of sinister sounding FX and cool percussions. Deep resonating basses add the perfect platform for the track to evolve as they transform into a rolling line injecting energy. Very cool scattered synths provide smooth textures and on the break these become more prominent. The main break is a masterclass in bass structure as various levels of low end drones and pulses merge into a superb sequence. Brilliant stuff from the guys and most definitely not to be missed.
David debuts on Progrez with this wonderful two tracker entitled Iowa. David is a UK based DJ and producer. He writes his own music using Cubase and Reason and has been producing for around 2 years now, building his portfolio of original works and remixes. He enjoys DJing live and his love for deep soulful electronic music remains the foundation of his creative output. To date David has built a respectful amount of releases on labels like Mindwarp Records, Society 3.0, Green Snake Records, Kroton Sound Recordings and Music Cell. These releases include his own recordings as well as remixes. Now signed with Bonzai we are certain to see much more from this highly talented guy, watch this space.
We kick off with Iowa which intros with a brilliantly tight percussion arrangement. Big and ballsy breaks soon take command of the track as the layers begin to form. A deep bubbling bass raises its head and leads us into a wonderful 4×4 driven groove filled with deep progressive house vibes. The break delivers a beautifully tweaked atmosphere as an array of pads and FX take over before slamming right back into the main groove, top notch stuff.
These Galaxies intros with a nice punchy kick and minimal percussions. A warm synth key brings a deep house vibe which evolves into a very cool percussive sounding hook. Expertly crafted FX come through adding cool textures to the sound. The subtle bassline hangs back and is brought forward to show its true pulsating power. Top quality cut that will definitely be a must in many boxes.
Beyond Beats aka Sam LoPiccolo is a DJ and producer from Providence in the USA. He’s been DJing for around 5 years and producing music for around 4 and half years. He likes to produce deep house and techno and will sometimes branch out into other genres if his mood takes him. Here we see his Bonzai debut on our deep progressive imprint Progrez with the sublime two tracker entitled ‘Somewhere Out There’.
‘Somewhere Out There’ intros with a surreal distant vocal and metallic rising FX sounds before effortlessly cruising into a smooth deep progressive tech vibe with cool kicks and rhythmic percussions. The intro FX continue throughout with various other sounds layering on top to create a very cool atmosphere. The bass sounds on offer are stunning, from the deep low end subs to staccato sequences and more. The short break keeps us locked into that surreal vibe before we are taken back into the main groove. Top notch stuff!
‘Featuring Some Birds’ gives off a strangely dark vibe right from the off with those chunky kicks and a superb bass filled FX sequence. Percussions slowly build to provide a solid rhythm for the track as deep rooted basses start to come through. Brilliantly crafted drum patterns give a slight tribal feel to the sound which adds lots of character and will no doubt make this a firm favourite in many sets.
Ivan Shadrin aka Ego Progressus returns after a short hiatus to Progrez with another stunning deep progressive house workout. The Broken Circle offers up two sublime tracks and shows us that this guy knows how to cut a track.
First up is The Broken Circle which intros with a punchy kick and minimal percussion alongside a surreal sequence that evolves with each section of the track. A growling organic bass rears its head and is the perfect companion for the darkly synth pads that weave in and out of the sound. The break descends into an eerie atmosphere filled with crazy FX and a brilliant spoken word sample before the track slams back in your face and continues on its journey to the depths.
O.B. is up next and gets moving with a nice clipped kick and clap combo alongside some brilliant metallic synths. In the background and very contrasting arp eases its way into the sound as the percussions begin to build and the synths intensify. Dark and sinister vocal samples lurk below as the bass bubbles all around. The break reveals a beautiful pad sequence as those metallic sounds are forced back. The vocal on the break is surreal as it’s covered in effects that enhance it beautifully. Deep, dark stuff that’s sure to be a hit with many!

Phat Traktor aka Spanish DJ and producer Jose Vinilo debuts on Progrez with a sublime two tracker entitled ‘Voyage EP’. Jose started out in music at just 15 when he first got into music production after being captivated by the 90’s dance music revolution. His style of music varies and when he DJ’s he likes to be unpredictable while always delivering an explosive set. He has graced the decks with many greats such as John Digweed, James Zabielia, Joris Voorn and more.
First up we have ‘Voyage’ which starts life as a chunky kick with a cool percussion backup creating a flowing rhythmic vibe. Soon a lush bass begins to bubble up from below as faded synth pads drift in and out. Cool FX fills up the sound in all the right places as the groove takes on a hypnotic state that grabs a hold of your senses. The track powers on relentlessly and will be a most welcome addition in any progressive set.
‘Voyage 2.0’ is next and what we get is a merciless ride through the darker side of progressive as phat kicks combine perfectly with a truly deep rooted bass. Very subtle percussions give way to the super low end on this track as swirling pads tease throughout. The groove becomes infectious as the beats charge forward and take hold. An absolute stomper that will have the bass bins shaking and will no doubt be the highlight in many sets.
Antonio returns to Progrez with this stunning two track EP entitled ‘I Believe In The Music’. His last outing ‘Pistachios Escape EP’ saw much support across the board. Recently Antonio dished out a brilliant mix for Bonzai Basik Beats radio show which gained many listeners. Lots more to come from this guy so stay tuned.
First up we have ‘Da Melo’, the intro boasts a cool dark themed kick that packs a big punch. Surreal vibrato pads add an eerie element to the sound as the groove begins to tighten up. The bass delivers a truly deep vibe as it pulsates through the sound with teasing synth notes easing in. A very minimal dark progressive vibe that will cause a stir in those more edgy sets!
‘Off Shot’ intros with a very cool kick and synth combi that sets up a smooth and flowing groove to the sound early on. Nice and crisp hats sit perfectly as other percussions build up all around. The track has a transformation when that huge bass kicks in, this bass has various layers that ebb and flow beautifully having a huge impact overall. A cool melancholic riff is the perfect accompaniment and comes to the fore on the break, before we are thrust back into the groove in this darkly sinister prog stomper.
MetrONomes are a progressive DJing and production duo by Jon ManimaL & Magros who have been regular contributors to our Progrez imprint. The guys always deliver the goods and this three tracker entitled ‘Roll & Rock’ is no exception.
‘Roll & Rock’ intros with a deep growl and a big chunky kick accompanied by some very cool percussion elements. Growling basses continue to rise up as a deep and dark vocal sample comes through. The track lets loose a funky bassline that gives the sound a huge character and is joined by lots of warping effects later on. A full on progressive groove with a cool twist that will not disappoint!
‘The Dark Age Is’ rattles home a monster bass that will shudder any floor as it pounds away alongside a chunky kick and rhythmic percussion arrangement. The kicks and bass filter down lulling you in before that huge bass slams back right in your face. An array of cool FX create flowing textures throughout and on the break darker elements come out of the shadows before heading right back into the main track. A surreal experience is created with softly rising pads that adds a new dimension, powerful stuff!
‘Soulfood’ intros with a pulsating bass and comes married with really cool FX which blend well and give an edgy texture. The bass is a big feature and will set floors alight all over. Nice chunky kicks and shuffling percussions give a cool rhythmic vibe to the sound. Strangely eerie synths pop out of the woodwork and pave the way for a soulful vocal that sweeps across the groove. Beautiful sweeping pads come through and give an epic feel to this prog stomper.
New York City based DJ and producer James Gill debuts on Progrez with the stunning two tracker ‘Deep Meditation’. James has been around electronic music for over 16 years and is a fully trained studio engineer. He has seen his music appear on top labels since 2010 and his efforts have been supported worldwide by some major players on the scene.
‘Deep Meditation’ is up first and on the intro a deep pounding kick powers up the groove with cool percussive effects lending support. The bass eases its way through as it bubbles from below before driving the sound on relentlessly. The break leads the track perfectly into its next stage as a superbly worked synth with an acid line feel takes over. Subtle melodies lie in wait as teasing pads begin to filter through. Quality stuff from James and a must for any box.
‘Icarus’s Wings’ intros with a full on chunky kick and hat combo with some cool percussion sounds adding weight. The bass rises from the depths and gives the track a robust vibe while creating a hypnotic groove. Pure deep progressive vibes are what we get here and will be sure fire hit with many jocks the world over.
Italian DJ and producer Antonio Citarella debuts on Progrez with this stunning two tracker ‘Pistachios Escape EP’. Antonio became fascinated and attracted by analogue synths and electronic music production after he cut his teeth on the DJ circuit where he was an avid vinyl user before moving into the digital arena. A very talented artist who will no doubt make waves in the years ahead.
First up we have the title track ‘Pistachios Escape’, the intro is an intense affair with huge, deep resonating synths ebbing and flowing alongside a subtle hi hat sequence. Soon a mega low bass morphs into the sound before a thumping kick gets the track into full swing. Sublime swirly synths find their way into the track as the bassline evolves and dishes out a quality deep progressive vibe.
‘Snakes In The Head’ is up next and the intro boasts a cool rhythmic percussion arrangement with a nice chunky kick adding weight. A deep bubbly bass soon takes over as we settle into a solid grooving progressive ride. Darkly sinister and intense synths rise from the depths as the layers build giving the track a hypnotic vibe which is further enhanced with a hauntng vocal, sublime stuff!
