Italian DJ and producer duo Davide and Michele Di Chiara aka Di Chiara Brothers debut on Piston with the two track Come With Us EP. The guys have been DJing together for quite a while and in 2010 they got into producing. Since then they have notched up a hugely impressive back catalogue featuring on many labels with a focus mainly on Deep and Tech House.
Come With Us intros with a smooth percussion arrangement and is joined soon after by a nice chunky kick and a bass that walks through the groove beautifully. More percussive layers are added and create a nice flowing rhythmic vibe while the filters take the sound to near silence. A cool vocal arrives adding a wonderful character to the sound before we are slammed right back into a deep tech fuelled ride. A truly relentless monster that will light up any floor.
I Understood brings a fresh wave of deep tech house. Percussion heavy arrangements will get those asses shakin in no time as a nice phat kick thumps out the deeper elements. The bass takes shape with long notes dishing out perfectly pitched lower end frequencies. The big hitter here are the vocal samples which dominate throughout as classic snippets are instantly recognisable. Big pumping dancefloor tune which will be a feature in many sets no doubt.

Iban Montoro & Jazzman Wax are back at Piston with Let It. The guys are fresh off the back of their Piston debut, In Da House which saw great support from many quarters. This time around we are treated to some nice and deep, sublime house, so get ready to groove.
First up we have Let It with a very cool well rounded kick drum and snappy snare combi. Crispy sharp hats join in and the rhythms begin to flow fluently. Lush organ chords get the deep grooves moving to the backdrop of a rumbling bass that sits on the low end beautifully. The break offers up some expertly crafted FX and note structures with cool vocal samples adding character. Nice and tight deep house for the dancefloor, not to be missed.
Break King intros with a nice punchy kick with subtle percussions building slowly as smooth rising pad FX sit in the wings. Loose and hissy hats gather pace as the superb bass pattern begins to weave its magic. Nice and subtle synth hits fade through beautifully taking the groove to deeper levels. Smooth vocals come through on the break giving the track a very cool personality and rounding off a top notch cut, a must have no doubt.
Italian producer Marcus Raute returns to Piston with the three tracker Samplin’ Memories EP. His debut Basement Of Love back in the Spring was very well received and no doubt we will see much support with this new cut.
First up we have the title track Samplin’ Memories which intros with a nice big chunky kick drum alongside sharp and crisp hats. A smooth rhythmic flow is crafted early on and as the layers build the groove oozes deep house. You will find yourself dancing to this infectious beat easily, the bassline sits just at the right spot allowing the beats and the superb keys to do their work. Cool snappy vocal samples keep the house flavour intact. A definite must for any set.
Going On intros with a fantastic punchy kick with crispy cool hats and claps alongside generating a very dancey beat. A wailing vocal comes through alongside deep and smooth house chords that stab out a cool sequence which doubles up over time giving a full on deep house vibe. On the break a fading pad rises and leads up to more of those chords which take a new direction while keeping our bodies moving to the grooves. Top notch stuff that is not to be missed.
What A Day intros with a smooth round of FX a rising synth and cool percussions. A pumping kick ties this all together as the grooves settles into its flow. The synths begin to form into chord stabs as the bass bubbles up from below alongside a cool vocal sample which becomes more prominent on the break. Fantastic percussion arrangements will have the floors moving for sure making this the perfect addition to any set.
DJ and producer duo Different Things aka Riccardo Masi and Alessio Zobbi debut on Piston with this stunning five track release entitled Half Past Midnight EP. The guys have just recently saw their Soul Light EP on D-Lab Records hit the shelves and they have more projects on the go. We are delight to have them here at Piston with this fantastic offering and we hope to see much more soon.
First up we have Everybody Wanna Move with its super cool lounge grooves. Right from the off the track oozes deep house vibes that captivate throughout. The tight drums and percussion arrangements will get the toes tapping as the bassline meanders along with a slice of funk. Beautifully tweaked chords mesmerize and are contrasted perfectly with some brighter piano riffs. Sultry and smooth for those late night sessions.
Koto intros with a deep bass alongside rhythmic percussions and a cool break beat vibe. Smooth piano hits come through as the layers build before the 4×4 kicks take control. Groovy melodies take over as the piano is joined by cool synths bringing a funky treat to the sound. Smooth laidback rhythms with a mellow vibe that will be a welcome addition in any set.
Half Past Midnight takes the term super cool to whole new level as the track oozes smooth deep house flavours right from the off. Inoffensive kicks and cool shuffling percussions provide the perfect backdrop to the track while the deep and groovy basses power the track forward. The big hitter here is the stunning key work, deep chords are contrasted beautifully by sweet melodic riffs and laidback pianos. Great stuff that will grab a lot of attention.
True Waves dishes out a slow and groovy jam with a myriad of funky licks and a tightly arranged drum section that builds a smooth rhythmic flow. Perfectly plucked basses create a cool, swaying groove that will force you to get those dancing feet moving. The piano section builds smoothly as chords are struck alongside funky riffs as an organ ramps up the vibe. Definitely a must have for any collection which will not disappoint.
Lastly we have Sunday Brunch which starts life as a cool percussive groove with rising chords coming through in the background. Nice chunky kicks soon take control and we are set on a deep and soulful journey through the house spectrum. A stunning deep bass drives the track beautifully as the synths continue to rise alongside some cool FX and bright plinky pianos. Funky riffs are played out and create a wonderfully textured groove in this superb slice. Not to be missed.
Danny eM aka Daniel Martinetti debuts on Piston with the outstanding three track Shades Of Summer EP. Based in Lima, Peru Danny is influenced by Chicago House and New York Garage. He has released on Audionumb in Peru and on Form and Function in the UK. Support for his music comes from all over and we are delighted to have him on board.
First up we have the title track Shades Of Summer with is filtered intro that slowly forms into a warm and lush groovy joint. Nice big chunky kicks are joined with a classic styled percussion section that packs a smooth rhythm. A deep rising bass gives off a cool garage theme and deep piano notes keep the vibe firmly in the house arena. The track is topped of beautifully with some amazing gospel style vocal giving the track so much character, a definite must have here that will keep any party on the move.
Devotion intros with a sublime wavering synth and a smooth percussion line giving a laidback feel to the sound. A deep and droning bass comes through and dominates as the kicks get into their 4×4 groove. Tight drum arrangements dish out various patterns keeping a steady rhythm as the layers build. A distant vocal sample is the perfect addition here and works well with subtle synth licks which become a main feature. Deep dark and moody, perfect for late night ventures.
New Beginning sets off with a deep bassy vibe with subtle percussions sitting on top. Out of the blue a monster kick appears and takes full control of the sound as those droning basses continue in the background. Sinister sounding dark melodies ooze melancholy in a beautiful way and we are on course for a journey into the deeper side of house. Excellent stuff that will appeal to many for sure.
Miguel Reis is back at Piston with Boom Bam. His last release Classic Motherfucker Record was well received and landed a spot on Piston’s Ghetto Tales EP Volume 2.
Boom Bam intros with a super tight drum arrangement that provides a cool shuffling groove with the help of subtle percussion. A catchy vocal is very distinctive throughout and puts the track at the dancey side of the tracks. The groovy bass is a big feature and will no doubt shake the speakers at any club. AS the track evolves we are led into a world full of expertly tweaked FX and erotic vocal snippets that keep the sound firmly at the deeper end making this a definite must for the darker rooms out there.
Dancefloor sets off with a bass heavy sequence which is contrasted with bright tinkling percussions. Classic vocal samples filter through as sublime strings and melodic pianos clash. We are taken into the main track with a brilliant vocal sample that leads to a tough kick and deep bass combi with contrasting open hats. The groove builds as various percussive instruments get the rhythms flowing resulting in a very urban feeling sound. Superbly constructed piece that will turn a few heads for sure.
UK based dirtFlush debuts on Piston with Venice. dirtFlush released his first single Rock The Disco on Lantus Records and was soon riding high on download charts. Here we are treated with two deep fuelled tracks that will get the floors pumping no doubt.
First up we have Venice which intros with a nice punchy kick with a bubbling bass beginning to form underneath. Classic percussions provide a smooth rhythmic flow as house chords start to fade through. The chords are short stabby hits that really give that true sense of a deep house groove. The break lets those stabs loose as they stretch and modulate giving off a much more bouncier vibe. Top notch debut and a definite must have.
180 Degrees intros with a muted kick alongside subtle percussions. Deep warm notes begin to fill the space as a pulsing bass comes through with the assistance of some expertly tweaked vocal samples. The deep notes begin a fantastic journey as they are filtered and modulated leaving behind a minimal groove. Cool FX add smooth textures to the sound and we are soon locked right into the groove. Great stuff that will get any party started.
Troy Douglas debuts on Piston with the superb Hipster Break. Troy Douglas is made up of three likeminded DJ’s and producers Victor Backlin Bergh, Tomas Harenstam and Daniel Hollstrom, who like to delve into a bit of deep, funky dance floor friendly grooves. Hailing out of Stockholm the guys are mostly a DJing trio who like to have an awesome time.
First up we have the full on dance beats of Hipster Break which intros with a classic kick and hat combi. Cool percussions lurk in the background and a smooth deep bassline brings up the rear. Snappy vocal samples lead us into the main track proper where the bass begins to have a huge impact alongside cool and groovy deep house keys. Hip Hop elements break through on the break with a brilliant rap styled sample taking full control. Perfect floor fodder here and definitely not to be missed.
Lazersack intros with a round hats and cymbals that begins to get the rhythms flowing. Cool, chunky kicks and a stabby synth fade through leading up to a stomping floor filling groove. A deep pulsing bass lurks in the rear and sits perfectly allowing those stabs to dominate. On the break cool vocal samples come through alongside a classic crowd FX. Funky, deep and dancey grooves, perfect for summer parties anywhere.

As the vinyl resurgence continues to gain momentum Piston Recordings head honcho Rogerio Martins has selected top quality cuts to make up the next vinyl release entitled ‘Ghetto Tales EP Volume 2′. Rogerio is joined by friends Miguel Reis, Carlo Caldareri and Yusuke Yamamoto as four stunning deep house slices are etched onto plastic so you can enjoy the analogue pleasure of putting the needle on the record. Undoubtedly the best way to listen to music, you will not be disappointed.
First up is Rogerio with his exclusive Taking It Back. As ever Rogerio continues to run a tight ship putting in the hours running the label, DJing, remixing and producing. Lots more to come through for 2014 so it’s worth keeping an eye on. The intro goes classic with a chunky kick and sharp hat combo along with a well crafted snare arrangement. The rhythms soon gather pace as a beautifully lush bass joins in. Groovy house keys add great depth to the sound while simple vocal samples sit back before being unleashed with a long release. The break brings forth a deeper sub bass that marries perfectly with those vocals before slamming back into the main groove. Top class stuff yet again from Portugal and a great addition to those “physical” record boxes.
Miguel Reis is up next with his Classic Motherfucker Record. Miguel Reis is a new moniker and is the very same artist with a multitude of releases under the alias of Mike Kings who has seen tracks on labels like Nervous Records, Stereo Productions, Kult Records, Session Trax, Fatal Music, Magna Recordings, and many more. The track intros with a nice mix of kicks and percs which set up a smooth rhythmic vibe, a deep, rasping vocal comes in with a very cool narrative which blends perfectly with the house beats. The track builds steadily as the vocal becomes a big focus before a truly deep and groovy bassline comes to the fore and injecting a funky flavour to the sound, top stuff.
Italian born DJ and producer Carlo Caldareri is back to Piston with this exclusive vinyl cut Not Before. Since he was young he always cultivated a passion for music, he spent the first years of his career looking into different genres of music. Soon he focused in on house music and his DJ sets began to take on house and deep house grooves. Carlo has worked with top artists and his tracks have appeared on many labels including Digital Traffik, Microtech Records and Mono Recordings to name just a few. Here the track intros with a cool percussion arrangement before classic styled kicks gets the sound locked into a solid groove. The bass rules from below as it cascades up through the sound, simple and effective short vocal samples add huge weight to the groove as the track takes us into a gritty workout complete with brass stabs. The break unleashes a brilliant Hip Hop styled vocal sample that leads us right back into this full on deep house monster groover.
Yusuke Yamamoto aka Freischwimmer delivers with his stunning Night Journey which is exclusive to this vinyl release. Yusuke is a contemporary house music producer and DJ currently based in Kyoto, Japan. His authentic sound remains universal and independent of trends and periods. He runs his own label Vacances Records and has seen release on many other labels including Oasi Lab, Houseworx, City Life, Ibiza House Hotspot and more. His last outing on Piston ‘Sun Shower EP’ was well received and is a testament to the eclectic nature of his style. A minimal sounding approach with a nicely clipped kick and percussion combo while a cool atmosphere is created in the background with great FX work. A simple yet highly effective bass joins the fray and soon transforms into a dominating force in the sound. Cool synth keys hypnotise and are joined by a much tougher synth riff that has a gritty edge. Throughout the sound a brilliant vocal sample keeps the groove flowing and continues through the break where a striking high pitched string comes in and leads us back into the swing of the main groove. Great stuff from Yusuke and definitely not to be missed.
