Argentinean DJ and producer Leandro Di debuts on piston with his Love From Another Woman EP. Leandro started out listening to funk, disco and jazz which began to shape his musical tastes and added influences like deep basses and hypnotic rhythms. As the years progressed he got into DJing and played styles like deep house, house, acid house and tech house. His impressive catalogue of tracks have seen releases on labels like Vulcania Records, Ho Records, Making Smiles, Restore Music and Complex Textures to name just a few.
Boosh debuts on Piston Recordings with the upbeat and fresh sounds of Be A Man EP. Be A Man delivers a superbly fresh deep house sound with an upbeat tempo that will certainly get the floors into full swing. Nice and phat kicks deliver a solid punch as cool, crispy hats get the rhythm moving. Powerful chord stabs bring the house groove to life as funky keys work their magic in the background. The bass works perfectly in tandem with those stabs and really ramps up the groove to ass shakin heights. Cool vocals sweep through the sound providing a classic urban theme making this a definite must have track for your box.
Rubba J aka Jan Costermans returns to Piston for more house party goodness with his three tracker entitled The Next. His debut came in 2013 with the fantastic The Art Of Doing Nothing and quickly gained a great amount of support around the circuit. Great to see him back once again and hope to see more of this guy in the future.
Detroit based, prolific house music producer and DJ Rick Wade makes a welcome return to Piston, after a bit of a hiatus, with the superb Daedalus. It was back in 2013 when we last got a glimpse of this highly respect artist with his very much revered, Zombie. With a career spanning over 20 years, Rick utilises music as a release which in turn allows him to further his ideas and his approach to creating stunning DJ sets. A product of the heyday of deep house Rick continues to ply his trade through various radioshows with his fresh, soulful and downright dancy sets. Great to see him back with this fantastic offering and we hope to see more in the future.
Debut appearance on Piston for Groove Apartment with the two tracker, Sound Of Soul. Sound Of Soul intros with a super smooth bass note that glides across a tight drum arrangement filled with crystallized hats and a nice chunky kick. Cool vocal one shots litter the groove as a lush deep house chord is introduced. Bright and cheerful melodies stand out in contrast to the deeper elements and provide a playful dance floor friendly vibe. A real nice and upbeat slice of deep house with some very cool 80’s samples running through.
Our Piston journey continues with another slice of wax filled with deep and groovy sounds your turntables are gonna love. Label head honcho Rogerio Martins gets the cutting treatment with his Otherwise Unknown EP which features a remix from the fantastic Kris Wadsworth. Otherwise Unknown dishes out its solid beats, probing basses and warm tones that will set the floors alight while We Like To Party brings its upbeat vibes filled with bright, crispy percussions and cool vocals.
Italian producers Angelo Draetta & Gianni Alessandrelli join creative forces with their Piston debut Kale Polis EP. Since 2010 Angelo has been a prominent figure among the House music fraternity, he dips his toes into Deep House and Tech House also and has appeared on a vast array of labels including Manyoma Records, City Life, Talk Musique, Green Music and many more. Gianni came through onto the scene in 2014 with top releases on Opium Muzik, Revox Records and Tulipe Records. Great sound from these guys, well worth keeping an eye on.
Irish DJ and producer Dominic Smith makes his full debut on Monog Records with the superb Dig Deep EP. Dominic is no stranger to these shores having delivered a fantastic remix on Luis Bravo’s Switch Dance at the start of 2015. We know this guy loves his house music and how he dissects genres and moulds them into cutting edge grooves. Since grasping the inner workings of Ableton he has been relentless in his approach to producing as he leaves no stone unturned. It is this attention to detail that has gained the attention of various labels including Monog, we have no doubt there will be much more from this guy in the future so stay tuned.
Daniel Ray notches up his fifth Eyepatch release with this superb two tracker entitled Keeping On. Last time out, Daniel furnished us with the deep and techy vibes of Mirrors which saw great support across the board. Keeping On gets into a deep groove right from the off with a groovelicious bass chord arrangement that fills the sound beautifully. Tight drums and cool crispy hats get the rhythm flowing nicely as the deep vibes continue to rise. A sense of melancholy prevails from the poignant strings on offer as the dirtier side of tech is just about suppressed within this solid groover, Top notch stuff that will not go unnoticed, a must have.
Deephno debuts on Eyepatch with the superb two tracker, Hello2J. Hello2J intros with a swelling chord that creates a warm glow over the sound before a chunky kick takes over and drives the groove forward. Cool drum patterns form up in the background and create a smooth flowing rhythm. The groove goes deeper as a lush bass fills the low end and marries perfectly with those warm chord strings. Wonderful swirling noise FX fill the spaces and on the first break we get a real cool synth line that brings an unexpected twist in the tale. The track settles in for a nice ride into deep house before we head into the main break where we are treated to a stunning display of deep keys that really light up the track. A simply divine trek into deep house that will definitely be a main contender on the floors.
The hugely impressive Daniel Ray debuts on Piston with the brilliant two tracker, Mirrors. Daniel was a regular feature on Eyepatch Recordings where he dished out his brand of deep house goodness. October 2014 saw A Numbers Game perform well and on top of that he featured in several compilations from the Bonzai stable.
