Russian DJ and producer Igor Platunoff is back at Bonzai Progressive after a short hiatus with the superb Unbreakable, which is backed up with two quality remixes from Stan Kolev and Rafa Alcantara. This one follows the equally impressive Primavera and a successful collaboration with Blufeld on their superb cut Tiefe Gedanken back in May 2016. Igor has also appeared on several of our compilations over the years and has seen a plethora of releases on various other imprints. Always a pleasure to hear his latest offerings and we hope to see more soon.
Serbian DJ and producer Nemanja Petrovic aka Gibbon debuts here on Bonzai Progressive with the fantastic Wanted EP. This one follows his Dance of Nature EP on our Green Martian imprint from 2014 and it’s great to see him back for more. Nemanja has been interested in electronic music since he was a child. At just 13 years old he had a desire to learn about DJing and he quickly mastered the art of mixing soon after. At 18 he was presented with every aspiring DJ’s wish when his parents gave him his own DJ equipment which led to him perfecting his new found craft. The gigs started to flow after this and allowed him to explore all genres of dance music. He settled on Tribal, Progressive and Deep House but also likes some old funky Disco and Disco House. In 2010 he made his first steps into music production which at the start was more of a hobby. By 2013 he secured his first release on Niraya World with Monkey Business which was remixed by a slew of artists and got support from many quarters.
We continue to celebrate one of our most prolific artists of the last two decades and, as promised, in recognition of this amazing feat, we are proud to present 18 brand new and exclusive remixes. These tracks have been hand-picked to represent the diversity of Airwave’s sound with each remix complimenting that sound in the artists own, unique way. We’ve enlisted some of underground dance music’s finest including Gai Barone, Melissa Nikita, Dan Nusdeo, Antidote, Stan Kolev, Basil O’Glue, Clawz SG, Pranav Mayekar, Andromedha, Crocy, Galestian, Kandar and Zankee Gulati. If that wasn’t enough, Airwave himself has provided four very special remixes of four very special classics that are sure to send the fans into a frenzy. We really couldn’t be more delighted with this amazing collection and think you’ll agree that Airwave could not be more deserving of such a fitting tribute to his continuing legacy.
R3cycle and Roy Lebens to Bonzai Progressive with Babylon which follows their debut here with Thousand Pounds at the start of 2019. R3cycle aka Shahar Shtrikman got into music from a very young age. In 1996 he was introduced to music making program Impulse Tracker which led him to get studying to become a sound engineer. With an impressive release count, Shahar likes to focus on creating nice atmospheres and melodies. Roy has also seen a raft of releases on several labels. A bit more mysterious than his studio partner, the guys have worked together on occasion. In 2014 they also had an appearance on our Club Traxx Progressive House 1 compilation. Nice to see the back for more progressive goodness.
Tom Wax and Dam Hillson join forces once again as they return to Bonzai Progressive with the fantastic I Believe I Can which follows hot on the heels of their impressive double act debut single, Don’t Stop. Tom has always been a leading figure in the electronic music scene in Germany since 1988, he has also inspired a lot of DJ’s and producers around the world with his unique sound. After more than 25 years behind the DJ booth he is still on a mission as he releases tracks on labels such as Great Stuff, Toolroom, CR2, Bitten, Bush, Suara, Armada Deep, Toca 45 and Phuture Wax. At the height of the European techno and trance era, Tom was responsible for a vast number of classics under his Arpeggiators, Microbots and DJ Tom & Norman guises. His tracks found their home on R&S, Harthouse and Overdrive Records. He partnered with Thorsten Adler on AWeX and found international fame with It’s Our Future on Plastic City. Dan Hillson aka Hillson is a relative newcomer on the scene. He has several releases over the last few years on quality labels and his unique sound is something that is grabbing attention. Hopefully we will hear much more from him in the future. Always an exciting time when these two get behind the mixing desk.
Matti aka Turkish artist Ozgun Yasar Bakir is back at Bonzai Progressive for his third outing with the superb Crackbrained EP. This one follows his early 2019 cut The Magician which gained support from across the board. Matti started getting into music in his secondary school years. With encouragement from his family, he began playing guitar for local folk and blues groups in his hometown. Soon after he got into electronic music and from here, he honed his skills, creating his own unique sound. After several releases he has developed a solid reputation among his peers and we’ve no doubt this trend will continue, great to have him back for more.
Matt Black returns to Bonzai Progressive with another fine slab of progressive goodness and, this time he has a solid backing with a remix from Koschk. We first saw Matt here on remix duties for Jones & Stephenson – The First Rebirth as part of our 25-year special remix series before he gave us the superb Mindscape back in 2017. Matt has been making music since the mid 90’s but it was when he started Segment records in 2003 that his work really began to get noticed. Since quitting the label in 2014 Matt has gone on to have tracks signed to labels such as Stripped digital, Mirabilis and Pro-B-Tech and has had remixes on labels such as Crop Circle, Emotional Content and 3rd Avenue. In the past Matt’s music has been supported by DJ’s such as Nick Warren and Hernan Cattaneo and has been played on both major radio stations and internet stations such as Proton radio and Frisky. Nice to have him back for more.
K.Oshkin returns to Bonzai Progressive with yet more progressive goodness in the form of his latest effort titled Aura, which comes backed up with two quality remixes. His last outing here, Mechanical Dances, gained great support, which is no surprise given the sheer talent this guy possesses. His work has been released on various labels including Incepto, Sleepless Nights Recordings, Inmost Records, Aeriform Records and Balkan Connection to name just a few. Ukrainian DJ and producer Ruslan Haievyk aka MacroVision joins forces with fellow countrymen Isels on the superb Radiance. He has seen releases on several labels from across the northern hemisphere and he has won a number of music-based competitions in the last several years. His music has seen airplay on many radio stations including Kiss FM, DJFM, DFM and BBC Radio and his DJ sets are known to bring an energy to the floor and for being immersive and dynamic. Isels have carved out a solid reputation on the scene for their quality sounds. They’ve seen several releases on Dbeatzion Records among others and it’s great to have them on board here.
Fresh for 2019, Blufeld and Nikko Mavridis join forces once again and follow up their superb Pothos with the equally superb Iris, which features a solid remix from Bonzai veteran Cortex Thrill. Blufeld remains a stalwart for us at Bonzai. We’ve been continuously impressed with his talents for over a decade and he shows no signs of letting up anytime soon. He captivates and mesmerizes, taking us into his three-dimensional world of sound. He relishes in his endeavours to maximize all levels of the sonic and emotional spectrum so as to reach and tug at the heartstrings of people who love electronic music. He is a craftsman with a deep sense of care and love for the output and quality of his productions, just like his last outing here with Anonymous We Stand. Nikko Mavridis is considered to be one of the most respected and well-known DJ’s in Greece. In the 90’s he was one of the most energetic members of DMC Hellas and at the same time he presented a highly rated radio show in Kavala. He is recognised for his ability behind the decks and his unique style and he has graced the stage with many top names over the years. Nikko has been quite busy in making his own music recently. He started recording as Coda with his partners Nicodream and Saki Tee and together they have racked up an impressive release count, which is heavily supported by DJ’s all over the world. Nowadays he is producing his own remixes and originals with his unique deep progressive sound.
Podgorica, Montenegro based DJ and producer Ognjen Vukovic aka AudioStorm delivers the stunning full-length album titled The Day When I Left which is his second album for us at Bonzai Progressive after his equally superb First Steps from 2015. From his early childhood he was fascinated by music. He enjoyed its energy and beauty and it was that which made him decide to follow a career in electronic music. He quickly realised that he had to absorb as many different genres of music as possible and became obsessed with several bands. By the beginning of the 90s, as grunge rock took over, he turned his attention towards the pioneering electronic bands of the burgeoning underground dance scene and in particular the music that was coming from Goa, India. Psy-Trance, as it became known, was for AudioStorm a diverse, forward thinking, adventurous mix of eastern and western cultures and new and older sounds. A melting pot of possibilities. It was listening to this music which inspired him to begin to explore more progressive sounds. As his interest in electronic music grew, he began to write his own tracks. He has a diverse range of releases from Progressive House and Techno to Chill-Out, Lounge and Indie Dance. This clearly indicates a talented producer who does not let genre boundaries cloud his musical vision.
