Tsuki

London, UK based artist Okubo returns to Bonzai Elemental with the sublime four tracker entitled Tsuki. We’re delighted to welcome this hugely talented artist back to Elemental. We first caught a glimpse of Okubo’s wondrous bliss back in the Summer of 2017 with Kofuku and, once again we find ourselves taken on a deep lingering trip into chilldom with this newest slice.

Skin is a seriously smooth slice of downtempo grooves. Enchanting sounds mingle as playful voices chatter throughout. A tight drum arrangement keeps the mellow groove flowing nicely while colourful textures create a beautifully layered musical construction. Melancholic in parts this one is the perfect fodder for a night of chill.

Paine intros with a swelling pad and fluttering after effects before a shuffling percussion pattern comes through. Rich flutes and rising chords create a dynamic vibe as distant voices stand by. The groove takes on a raw urban theme and really digs deep into the mind thanks to a series of probing basses and that mesmeric drum section. Top notch stuff.

Kyoto delivers a beautifully warm late night trek into trippy electronica filled with glitchy sounds and a constant, hypnotic vibe. Sparse drums come together nicely against a backdrop of warm tones complete with sharp, snappy snares and slicing hats. Amidst the deep elements we find sweet melodic flutters that draw you in making this an absolute must have track for the chill out zone.

Next up we have the Orchestral Version of Ph which originally featured on Kofuku. The trippy nature of the track remains thanks to contrasting soft melodics and deep probing basses. The orchestral instruments add a wonderful dynamic to the sound, unleashing a much richer experience on the mind. Mysterious vocal snippets and haunting pads make for a truly hypnotic atmosphere that is not to be missed.
