Life Begins

Bonzai Progressive BP4112014 1 December, 2014

Debut appearance on Bonzai Progressive for Mendexx with the superb Life Begins which is backed by three fantastic remixes.

The Original Mix intros with a smooth kick and strolling bass that gets the juices flowing. Cool percussions form up and bring a nice rhythmic vibe to the sound as various FX add depth. The bass hypnotizes as it unleashes its groove on our senses and takes us deep into the progressive abyss. Spacey synths dominate as they deliver their harsh tones giving the track a real edgy feel. The break reveals some very cool and subtle melodic flavours which stand in contrast to those harsher synths before the track rises back into the main groove. A top notch slice of prog for those darker rooms.

Manu Riga, a firm favourite at Bonzai, delivers his Progrezz Remix. We know and love Manu’s work and here he transitions himself into slightly different territory with an emphasis on a much tougher vibe with a true driving progressive groove. The intro boasts a wonderful kick with a nice clipped top as crispy hats sit alongside some classy FX that rise and fall beautifully. Melodies are borne out of cool synth riffs that litter the track in all the right places. A harsh sounding vocal adds some very cool textures and fits perfectly into the dynamics of the track. The bass drives the track forward while giving space to the multitude of layers to shine. Something slightly different from Manu and no doubt we will be seeing this track get a lot of attention.

Next up we have Wild Guess’ Life In Space Remix. We last saw J.E.O.F., Config and P.O.W. aka Wild Guess back in June this year on remix duty for Digital Department featuring Cara Leigh’s You Put A Spell. Here they hold no bars in letting loose their superb progressive house grooves. The intro sets off with punchy kicks and sharp percussions as a superb melodic arp fades through. A deep throbbing bass soon follows and dominates the sound wonderfully as those arps continue to rise. The track settles into an infectious groove that holds you in as those basses begin to really let loose with fantastic note changes. The break is a cacophony of melodies that interweave beautifully and are joined by a pulsing bass before the beats kick back in. A truly stunning slice from these guy’s as you’d expect, a definite must have.

Rounding off this superb pack we have Alfonso Muchacho on remix duty. July 2014 saw Alfonso mark his Bonzai debut with the fantastic Despina, delight to have him on board here and no doubt we’ll be in for a treat. The intro gives that driving feel right from the off as chunky kicks and syncopated percussions merge beautifully alongside a deep-rooted bass that strolls along wonderfully. Tough and gritty stabs litter the groove and add great contrasts to the sound as much brighter sparks sit in the background. The break unleashes those gritty synths in full effect before slamming back into the main track. A brilliant display of contrasting sounds that will appeal to many.
