Bonzai Progressive BP8622019 15 July, 2019

Nico Parisi is up next on Bonzai Progressive, delivering another superb slice of progressive goodness. Fresh off the back of his remix for Night Shift Master’s Gravity, Nico certainly knows how to churn out quality vibes. For many years he’s been at the forefront of dance music as both a DJ and producer. It all started with a DJ gig at the infamous Atmoz club, from there he enjoyed success playing at Belgium’s top venues as well as travelling the world. He has also brought his skills to many festivals with regular appearances including Bonzai Retro, Legacy Festival, Tomorrowland, Pukkelpop and a host of other notable events. His foray into the production world started with a demo he sent to Antler Subway which was met with success when he saw his tracks championed across the world by the likes of Tiesto, Oakenfold, Cox, Van Buuren and many more. After a period of time with EMI he signed an exclusive contract with the legendary Bonzai Progressive (Bonzai Records) where his brand of smooth, deep, progressive vibes would shine. Nico now boasts a hugely impressive catalogue of original works and remixes which continues to grow with every expertly crafted construction.

Nico’s Original Mix intros with a pulsing bassline and mesmerizing pad that rises up alongside an ethereal arpeggio. Nice and chunky kick drums lead the drum arrangement as slicing hi hats join shuffling percussive elements creating a steady rhythmic flow. The track digs deep, luring us in with subtle melodic tones that captivate and intrigue. Gated synths greet us on the break adding an extra dynamic to the sound. A moderately tense affair with cascading themes and a hypnotic prowess that is not to be missed.

Tom Wax is on remix duties for this one, dishing out a fine slice for the floors. His last effort here was alongside fellow producer Dan Hillson on their I Believe I Can which performed very well indeed. Tom has always been a leading figure in the electronic music scene in Germany since 1988, he has also inspired a lot of DJ’s and producers around the world with his unique sound. After more than 25 years behind the DJ booth he is still on a mission as he releases tracks on labels such as Great Stuff, Toolroom, CR2, Bitten, Bush, Suara, Armada Deep, Toca 45 and Phuture Wax. At the height of the European techno and trance era, Tom was responsible for a vast number of classics under his Arpeggiators, Microbots and DJ Tom & Norman guises. His tracks found their home on R&S, Harthouse and Overdrive Records. He partnered with Thorsten Adler on AWeX and found international fame with It’s Our Future on Plastic City. On the remix here, Tom delivers his take on the original theme with a dramatic flair and an epic touch. With a pounding beat at the fore and delicately poised arps bringing in a melodic touch, an offset bass adds movement, bringing a classic twist to the sound. Gritty, elongated stabs stand out which will definitely put this one on the peak time playlists.
