Komboloy

Piston Recordings PR2015143 19 January, 2015

Bhoo & Dirtyplan join forces for their Piston debut with the superb Komboloy which comes backed up with a fantastic remix from Holic Trax boss Tomoki Tamura. Bhoo are made up of three like-minded DJ’s and producers – Gianluca Viscovo, Luciano FM aka Luciano Fotis Meletopoulos and Paul Kenny aka Paolo Canale. Each brings his own unique style to the table, Gianluca adds in his blend of Funk, Soul and 80’s Electro while Luciano injects Disco Funk and oldskool House leaving Paul to usher in his Tech and Electronic sounds. Bhoo have appeared on many labels with great support over the years and they have worked with lots of top artists including Tali Freaks and C Minor. DirtyPlan recently saw his debut track Kilonova get a release on Let It Play and has gained a lot of support across the board as well as climbing many charts. His Deep House grooves can also be found on remix duty for Jeremy Urbano’s Human Rise and having hit the ground running at the end of November, it’s still gathering pace with support coming in from all angles.

The Original Mix intros with a huge crash which settles into a nice chunky kick and percussion led rhythm. Cool synth hits litter the groove as the layers build and give off a sublime deep tech experience. A subtle bass runs through the sound with the focus remaining on percussive elements and cool FX as distorted voices add textures and keep the deep vibe of the sound going. The break throws out more spoken word vocals and adds to the intensity of the sound with the help of amazing filtered synth sequences. We crash right back into the main groove with a flourish before settling back into this full on stomper for the duration. A gem of a track that will turn a few heads for sure.

Tomoki Tamura debuts on Piston with his stunning remix. The head of Holic Trax has been around the scene for a long time and in 2012 he decided to turn his very successful 10 year old Holic club events into a vehicle for showcasing rising talents and established artists alike. Many hits followed and in 2014 the labels profile was raised with support coming in from all angles, artists like Tuccillo, Sierra Sam, Doublet, Rick Wade, Chris Carrier, Ekkohaus & Rufus, Kate Simko, and Robert Dietz to name a few, are storming live sets and charts with their brand of deep tech vibes. No doubt we will be seeing a lot more from this stable, in the meantime we are delighted to welcome Tomoki to Piston. The remix sets off with a full on deep tech vibe, chunky kicks are met with a stand out percussion section with crispy hats and some excellent electro styled drums. A deep, raw bass gets the groove really flowing as those intricate drum patterns let the rhythms loose. Cool spoken vocals litter the sound with some great effects creating cool textures. Stabby synth riffs crop up delivering a real house experience and blend in beautifully with the techier groove. Superb stuff that is definitely not to be missed.
