Bonzai Progressive BP7022017 23 October, 2017

Chris Cargo makes his Bonzai Progressive debut with a sublime three tracker entitled Inversion. He joins an ever growing list of Irish artists to join the Bonzai family and we’re very impressed indeed with this guy’s talents. Chris started his production career in the late 1990s, and has been at the forefront of the electronic music scene ever since. He is best known for his melodic progressive house vibes, but has invented a host of other monikers, including Transitions, Sentinel and Caragnoid with each representing a different shade of his eclectic sound and each giving an idea of his true versatility. Chris has released music on seminal labels such as Renaissance, Whoop, Choo Choo and Limbo Recordings and has always gained consistent support for his many varied club releases from DJ giants such as Digweed, Cox, Howells, Lawler, Warren and Garnier etc. He is a multi talented DJ and producer who has regularly toured for the likes of Renaissance, Smirnoff, Tennents and Kent Tobacco many of which have seen him ply his wares on several large scale tours which has taken him to over 60 countries around the world including Portugal, Kazakhstan, USA, Finland, France, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Malaysia, China and Mexico to name just a few. Throughout his long career his music has appeared on many compilations for the likes of Renaissance, Intec, Seb Fontaine, Danny Howells, Valentino Kanzyani, Anthony Pappa, Slinky, Privledge-Ibiza, Global Underground and has had major BBC Radio 1 plays and multiple reviews in publications such as Mixmag and DJ Magazine. After a short hiatus Chris has returned to his seminal roots with a host of new productions on the way. This year (2017) he has released on Soundteller Records, Lowbit, Stellar Fountain, Sprout, Clinique Recordings and now Bonzai Progressive. Delighted to have him on board and we hope to see more from him in the future.

Inversion intros with a tribalistic vibe in an array of rhythmic percussions driven by a solid punchy kick drum. Mesmeric synths and cosmic FX form up alongside a deep bubbling bassline creating a sublime deep progressive groove. At the break we’re taken deeper as a droning bass is joined by hypnotic synth and percussion patterns which lead us back into the main groove. The track intensifies greatly as rising synths create a dynamic climax that raids the senses. Top notch stuff that will not disappoint.

Blue Skies sets out with a tight beat filled with chunky kicks and rhythmic percussions that tantalises and makes you move. A deep, lush bass dominates the low end alongside cool analogue style patterns. Swirling pads and FX wash over taking control of the higher frequencies while in the mid range we’re delighted with an array of sounds and intricate melodies that ramp up the progressive groove to ethereal levels. Fantastic effort once again and a definite must have track.

Right from the get go Lateral means business with its solid, driving beat coupled with a wonderful arpeggio bassline. Cool percussions fade through as the rhythm starts to move alongside a fleeting pad. An intensity builds and the lush groove becomes tangible thanks to its rich and dynamic spread. Subtle melodies fade in, becoming more prominent giving a stark contrast between the deeper elements of the track. On the break a short respite allows recovery from the intensity of the groove before we’re thrust right back into full on mode for the duration. An absolute monster of a tune that will be a welcome addition in any peak time progressive set.
