Displacement EP

Eyepatch Recordings EP2013083 12 August, 2013

Darouge is back after his “Ohwha EP” on Basiks with his three tracker, “Displacement EP”. Deep house grooves at their finest here which is a testament to this guys hard work and dedication.

The title track sets us off into the realms of deep, lush vibes courtesy of an outstanding bass that throbs out a hypnotic rhythm. Nice and tight arrangement with an almost bouncy feel as the crisp hats do their work. Soft piano chords sit back as distant sounding strings begin to rise. A cool vocal sample makes an appearance and rounds off an awesome cut.

“These Days” goes deeper still, heavily FX’ed vocal samples dominate the intro as the kicks and percs gather steam. A real low end sliding bass lurks in the depths and on the first drop a huge synth takes over setting the scene for a monster ride through the deeper side of house music. The main break offers up some quality synth work and expert manipulation of sounds, top notch.

“Laced” delivers a much more minimal vibe with the focus on huge kicks and subtle percussions. Again we see Darouge apply his expertise into a sublime bass track with very soft deep house chords bringing up the rear. As the track progresses many more elements begin to show with some classy sax and organ sounds, superb stuff yet again!
