Belgian DJ and producer Petro Chatzopoulos aka Petri Petro makes a welcome return to Basiks with his four tracker, Connectics EP. It was back in April 2014 since we last got a taste of his brand of deep Tech and Techno on his Side Effects EP. Great to see him back and no doubt we will be seeing more in the future.
We kick off with Connectics which hooks you in with fantastic bass heavy kicks and pulsing offset bass that form a truly dark Techno vibe. A simple synth note fades in with an echoed aftertaste and dominates with its hypnotic groove. Subtle arps litter the groove also and really enhance the textures of the sound. On the break percussions take over before we get slammed right back into the mix for the duration. The perfect addition to those banging sets you will not want to miss.
Outline intros with a big chunky kick that will hit you right in the chest with its pounding groove. Crispy hats fade in alongside a wall of noise that will eat right into your brain. Intensity rises and falls throughout as the layers build on this stomper while gritty synths fill the space and give a real Techno flavour to the sound. This hard hitting super tight track has a sinister nature that will not let go, top notch stuff.
Next up is Syndrome which intros with warm punchy kicks and a mixture of shuffling hats and harsh percussions. Eerie synths captivate as they weave through the groove with expertly tweaked precision. The offset bass takes a backseat and allows the mids and highs to shine and reach ear shattering levels. A truly relentless and merciless groove that will keep floors rocking no doubt.
Fugitive rounds up this fantastic package and keeps the Techno vibe alive. Superb bass rich kicks provide the intro as big crashes lead into a very cool shuffling hat sequence. A chilling, scratching type sound dominates alongside subtle synths that sit in the background which gives this track a sinister vibe. Warm basses give great depth to the sound making this a hell of a ride that should be a tool in any set.
