K.Oshkin returns to Bonzai Progressive with yet more progressive goodness in the form of his latest effort titled Aura, which comes backed up with two quality remixes. His last outing here, Mechanical Dances, gained great support, which is no surprise given the sheer talent this guy possesses. Since 2014 he has racked up an impressive discography that focuses in on quality progressive sounds. His work has been released on various labels including Incepto, Sleepless Nights Recordings, Inmost Records, Aeriform Records and Balkan Connection to name just a few. He’s proven himself to be prolific and creative for us over the years and we’ve no doubt we’ll be seeing much more from him in the future.
The Original Mix is a wonderfully put together atmospheric slice that will be perfect in any set as an intro or peak time. The track intros with a surreal melodic sequence that captures your imagination. Colourful, shapely sounds flow through the groove, taking us higher and higher. A tight drum section keeps the feet on the floor while the mind expands. Deep, droning basses fill out the sound as those vivid arpeggio sequences cascade up and down. An intricate, delicately executed cut that will not disappoint.
Ewan Rill aka DJ and producer Ivan Romanovskii is up first on remix duties and once again he blows us away with his track building skills. His last effort for us was on remix duty for Magnovis’ Rudimentary Hypnosis and this proved popular among many. He has more than a thousand tracks across a multitude of labels and he remains a leading artist in the electronic music world, enjoying great support from top DJ’s with whom he has also played alongside at top venues. The remix takes us on a much deeper journey than its original counterpart. Nice phat beats and a solid chunky, rumbling bassline strike up a strong groove that forces you to move. The bassline becomes very musical and combines effortlessly with the striking melodies overhead. On the break we are treated to a rich side chained synth hook that carries on for the duration, creating a wonderfully rich and vivacious sound. Top notch stuff that is not to be missed.
Ukrainian born Following Light aka Kirill Guk is up next on the remix delivering another fine rendition for our listening pleasure. We last got a taste of his progressive flavour back at the start of 2019 with a remix on K.Oshkin’s Mechanical Dances. Most of Kirill’s time is spent running multiple labels under his Lincor Family Group which boasts a plethora of top producers on its books. His music features heavily in sets across the globe and he has worked with some top artists along the way. The remix here thrashes out a devilish groove featuring raucous beats and an atmospheric lead sound with just the right amount of tonal tension which is maintained throughout. Cascading melodies, subtle 303 action and a beautifully crafted bassline make for an epic slice that is a must have, no doubt.
