Alex Nemec & Forniva debut on Bonzai Progressive with the superb Astrid which comes backed up with two top notch remixes from Manu Riga and formidable duo Paul Angelo & Don Argento. Slovenian artist Alex Nemec started to play out in clubs around 1998 and is better known as one half of Alex and Filip and together they have scored several top tracks since 2005. He runs Mirabilis Records and support within the industry has been well received from artists such as Hernan Cattaneo, Sasha and many more. Moke Okeric aka Forniva is a music producer and DJ from Sarajevo ,Bosnia & Herzegovina. He is known for his signature sound which is a mixture of deep, tech and progressive elements with an atmosphere hugely influenced by the 80’s music period. He is also A&R of Mirabilis Records from Slovenia, and resident and event planning manager of SIlver & Smoke Club in Sarajevo. During his career he played together with Solomun, Quivver, Javier Portilla and many more. A hugely talented pairing we are delighted to have on board.
The Original Mix intros with a gritty bass followed by a punchy kick drum and shuffling hi hat combi. A superb staccato bassline drives the track while bright synth arpeggios cascade through the track. We’re drawn deeper into progressive on the break where ethereal pads take over before slamming right back into full on mode. Expertly crafted note changes on the bass give the track a lot of movement making this an absolute must have.
Our very own Manu Riga steps up for remix duties with his Revision Remix which gives us another dose of his special progressive brand. This outing comes hot on the heel of his last effort alongside Rick Pier O’Neil aka RPO and their fantastic Terra Veteris which also features the stunning vocal talent of Mandy Jones. You could say we have become accustomed to Manu Riga’s style, but he always pushes his sound that little bit extra with every release and remix. He has a knack of adding the subtlest of changes that give his tracks an edge, putting them firmly on top of the pile. Lots more to come from this guy so well worth keeping an eye and an ear on. The remix here opens with a solid, punchy kick drum and bright hi hat combi alongside a deep droning bass that sets the mood for this journey into progressive. The pads deliver an intensity in the track that is tangible while sharp synths cut through the lower frequencies. Subtle melodic arpeggios rise up accompanied by fleeting synth hits creating a multi layered and colourful arrangement. Super stuff once again that will most definitely appeal to many.
Paul Angelo & Don Argento are next up on the remix and once again they blow us away with their unique progressive style. Paul and Don are a Cyprus based music duo who’ve delivered some fantastic cuts over the last few years. They started writing and playing electronic music as a duo back in 2013. Since then they performed at top electronic music venues in Cyprus and managed to reach the Beatport top 100 with their debut EP, Bromelain. Their music blends elements of Progressive House, Trance and Techno. They have seen support from big electronic artists and they signed to Bonzai Progressive towards the end of 2016 with their debut – Ipanema – which saw a release in early 2017 and was soon followed with the superb Voyager EP. Here the guys dish out a tight mesmeric slice of prog that comprises rhythmic drums, deep, lush basses and beautifully crafted melodies. The drums will certainly keep the floors moving thanks to those chunky kicks and shuffling hats. Gritty basses dominate the low end while hypnotic arpeggios offer up subtle melodies. On the break we’re taken deeper with an impressive pad display before we head right back to full on mode. Top notch stuff not to be missed.
