Cysxe aka Van Czar and Minitech Project aka Faroukh Hasham team up for the first time to deliver this stomping techno cut, Acid Planet EP. Cysxe is the darker, tougher side of Van’s techno style who we first got a glimpse of on Bouge back in 2012 and then more recently on Onofrio Conte’s Underground People. It has been a while since we seen Minitech Project on these shores, he has been busy with other works in the meantime but we are delighted to see him back. Time to buckle up for a ride deep into pure techno vibes.
The Original Mix of Acid Planet sets us off with its chunky, bass heavy kicks packing a huge punch that hits you square in the chest. The kicks produce a tough driving groove with the help of some intricate percussion patterns that create a flowing rhythm. The break throws up a darkly tribal, primitive drum sequence before leading us back to those pounding kicks. Superb stuff from these guys that will have those dark rooms bouncing.
Next up we have the Majed Remix of Acid Planet. Majed is returning to Bonzai after his debut alongside Van and their In Vino EP back in July this year. The remix intros with a smooth and crispy percussion before a nice punchy kick comes through and bringing that cool techno flavour along for the ride. The super smooth bass meanders through the track beautifully with its up and down motion, this works so perfectly with percussion driven nature of the sound and will no doubt appeal to many jocks, top notch yet again.
Deep Me features the vocal talents of Padhme who last featured on You And Me in 2013 and who remains mysteriously anonymous. The track intros with a sharp percussion arrangement that builds a steady flowing rhythm. Gut pounding bass heavy kicks soon join in and give that raw techno coating to the sound. Big focus on drums and percussions with cool fills and smooth filtering. The vocals add wonderful character as they bring a deep hypnotic groove which is the perfect combination for this purist sound.
Majed steps up to remix Deep Me and does a fantastic job. The intro hits hard with a deep pulsating kick stutter that is lit up by a cool drum section that fades through beautifully. The kicks filter out superbly to reveal a very electro fuelled breakbeat arrangement complete with snappy kicks and punchy snares. The break lets loose with a very cool synth riff that has that distinct metallic electro flavour. A brilliantly constructed slice of techno that is not to be missed.
