Kres and Paolo Camponuovo make their Piston debut with the stunning two tracker Oh Boy. Italian born Kres grew up messing around with midi cables and hardware samplers in his basement. He became attached to Hip Hop and vinyl before getting more into techno and house. He has a long list of releases across many labels and always delivers the goods. Paolo brings band playing experience to the track with some cool riffs on the saxophone and gives the track a lot of character.
Oh Boy takes us on a smooth and colourful journey through loungy deep hose grooves. The intro boasts a mish-mash of clangy percussions that paint a cool picture and work in perfect contrast to the deep, throbbing bass and chunky kicks. Melancholic pianos dish out their surreal melodic touches as a wonderful saxophone riff plays throughout and gives that jazzy lounge touch. Very cool stuff you will want in your collection for sure.
Sunshine takes us on a surreal deep house journey with many twists along the way. Big chunky kicks are joined by a deep droning bass synth that evolves brilliantly into a full on bassline pattern as cool, dark vocals come through. Various piano types can be heard through the layers which works perfectly in the sound and on the main break those pianos are keyed beautifully to reveal a very colourful melodic sequence. Top notch stuff that would be a definite must for those late night sessions.
