K.Oshkin makes a welcome return to Bonzai Progressive with the sublime Dark Baroque. It’s always a treat when his stuff comes through the inbox, just like his previous outings here, this one rocks. Since 2014 this guy has racked up an impressive discography that focuses in on quality progressive sounds. His work has been released on various labels including Incepto, Sleepless Nights Recordings, Inmost Records, Aeriform Records and Balkan Connection to name just a few. On top of that he has worked with a raft of top producers, Ewan Rill, Following Light, Matt Holliday and Jonnas B are just some of the artists who have picked up on Konstantin’s sound which is a testament to this guys status on the scene.

Dark Baroque is a sublime slice of melodic progressive with a subtle tech element. Tight beats lead the way and shuffling hi hats get the rhythmic juices flowing nicely. A strong layered bass comes complete with a plucked double bass which adds a richness to the sound while smooth chords join in. The main break is outstanding, various sounds are introduced and it feels like the whole sound spectrum is utilised. A very strong effort once again from K.Oshkin that will most definitely feature in many sets and charts.

Belarus native Michael A debuts on Bonzai Progressive with a superb remix. Mikhail Akulich is described as Belarus’ most recognizable electronic artist. He has amassed an impressive release count on prestigious labels from around the world and his style of progressive is championed by many jocks. In recent times his remix of Oovation’s Solar found its way onto our hugely popular In The Mix 006 – Progressive Sessions mixed by Gai Barone, so it was a no-brainer to get this guy in on the act here. Michael dishes out a deep, dark and melodic progressive cut here on the remix. The intro boasts a nice punchy kick and shuffling hi hat combi as sharp claps scatter throughout. The mood darkens as mesmeric arpeggios fade in alongside a metallic bass stab. A rolling bassline is introduced taking the groove to the next level while forcing us to move. Beautiful note changes lift the track, giving some resolve to the more melancholic parts of the track. Excellent stuff and a definite must have.

Ukranian born Kirill Guk aka Following Light is back on remix duties, teaming up once again with Konstantin. Kirill has remained a constant force in the progressive house world since 2010 having released quality music on a vast selection of labels. His music continues to feature heavily in sets across the globe and he has worked with some top artists along the way. In recent years he has been delivering the goods here at BP and we’ve no doubt he will continue his super run of form. Following Light’s signature sound comes through right from the get go on the remix here. Probing bass laden arpeggios dominate as swirling pads float over the top. A deeper, warmer and more powerful bassline takes over and we find ourselves locked on to the infectious groove. Melodies start to form up creating a wonderful rich sound that captivates. A beautifully crafted effort that will not disappoint.
