JWM is a Russian musician and producer based in St. Petersburg and here she makes her Bonzai debut with the sublime Wild Soul which also comes backed up with two superb remixes. From an early age she was surrounded by music as his parents enrolled her in music school where she studied music theory for 7 years and she particularly enjoyed piano and choir. In 2002 she was listening to radio stations and discovered electronic music which she describes as a breathtaking experience. A few years later she got a new computer with Logic Pro 5.0 and spent many hours learning how the software works, with no internet and no manual she navigated her way through Logic, creating and composing to find her own unique style.

First up we have the Original Mix with its tribalistic tones being played out with the help of a brilliant percussion arrangement. On top of this a nice chunky kick holds everything together and paves the way for the fantastic gritty bassline to take control. Cool ethnic flavours come through with chanting that will raise the hairs on your neck for sure. At the midway point a surprising twist occurs when super sweet melodic strings are brought in which provide very stark contrasts and work so well with the deeper elements. A proper deep progressive sound that is not to be missed.

One of Bonzai’s most popular remixers and overall workhorse Manu Riga, delivers us the superb Ethnology Remix. The last year has been a bumper one for Manu, he has seen several works released as well as a multitude of remixes that have all been very much well received. His last outing with DJ Fire entitled No Time Left saw great support across the board and featured heavily on top download sites. Some big changes and surprises are in the pipeline as Manu embarks on a slightly different direction as he strikes up new partnerships and readies more of his outstanding work, keep an eye out for more in the coming months. The remix is a new approach for Manu as he takes the original mix and dissects it beautifully to fit a much more driving groove. The intro boasts nice, big chunky kicks with a tight percussion arrangement getting the rhythm on the move. A fantastic offset bass brings a warm tone to the sound that captivates beautifully. Ethnic chants get the hairs raised as a grittier bass really starts to push the groove on. Perfectly placed FX enhance the sound as we head to the break where a truly sublime atmosphere ensues with sweeping pads and melodic strings taking us back into full on mode for the duration. Top quality yet again from Manu and we can’t wait for more.

Our next remix comes from Anurag Nandvanshi and takes us on a sublime tribal fuelled journey into deep progressive vibes. New Dehli, India based DJ and producer Anurag marked his Bonzai debut with the superb Soul Of India which was very well received. The track sets off with a full bodied intro as chunky kicks, sharp percussions and a rising pad lock you into the sound. Tribal chants soon follow and provides a solid platform for the groove to flow. The pads lead us into a short break before the track gets a boost from the fantastic bouncing bass, all the while those chants remain the dominant force. On the main break a melodic sequence ensues with super sweet strings alongside surreal sounds and a cool drum backdrop. The track kicks back in with a wonderful string sequence that blends perfectly with the groove. A real treat here that is definitely not to be missed.
