Mexico native JCL aka Jesús Cuevas León debuts on Piston Recordings with the fantastic Rain & Dance EP. Since a young age Jesús has been influenced by technology, this ultimately led him to electronic music. Over the last 5 or more years he has notched up quite an impressive release count across several labels and he has established himself as a respected DJ and artist. We welcome him to Piston and we hope to see more in the future.
Rain & Dance intros with a solid punchy kick and sharp hi hat combi alongside an excited rolling synth line that morphs and filters throughout. A simple melody grabs the attention before a deep rumbling bassline takes over, settling us in for a super tech house fuelled ride. Full on chord stabs soon join in giving the track a real clubby vibe that will definitely fill the floors. A beautifully crafted slice and a definite must have no doubt.
Contradiction sets off with warm organ chords and a deep, lush bass as crispy hi hats and shuffling percussions fade in. A wonderful spoken vocal adds a fantastic narrative to the sound, drawing you in with intrigue. Tight drums ensure a rhythmic experience as subtle arps and bright synth pads make their mark. The break delivers more of the vocal which works so well in the track before we head back into full on mode. An excellent slice of tech house that is not to be missed.
