Dark Soul Project teams up once again with the superb vocalist Fe Malefiz on We Are Not Alone which comes with two brilliant remixes. These two very talented artists gained a lot of attention with their first collab, Ain’t No Melodies Left, which featured heavily in many sets and charts. Clearly they have a great chemistry that we are sure will last for a long time, looking forward to more in the future.

The Original Mix sets off with a cool rhythmic flow as punchy kicks are joined by a tight drum section filled with crispy hats and energetic slapped hits. Sweeping FX take us through each section as various layers come together. A smooth and warm bass keeps the groove moving as synths begin to swell and the first hint of vocals creep in. When the vocals appear you are instantly captivated by their rich tones and sweet rounded edges. The break delves into a full on epic ride where a superb melodic lead is unleashed alongside those huge sweeps and sweet vocal. A real uplifting progger that will be a big hitter at peak time no doubt.

Belgian DJ and producer Nico Parisi steps up to the remix desk with his deep and grooving cut. Nico is back after a short break and he tells us there is lots in store which we are excited about. He has been a very busy guy on the DJ circuit with various gigs across the country and a spot at Bonzai Classics in Effenaar which proved to be another huge success. Plenty more to come from this guy so stay tuned. The remix intros with a cool punchy kick backed up with various percussive hits. A deep and grooving bass soon joins in as distant pads start to rise. Smooth notes bring a subtle melodic flavour and build up a quite intense vibe as they contrast with the darker tones. On the break we are lured into an evocative world filled with Fe’s captivating vocal and minimal sounds before getting thrust back into the main groove for the duration. A very smooth deep prog vibe that will definitely get a lot of attention.

On form producer and DJing duo Manu Riga and Matt Holliday are up next on remix duties. The guys have really hit the ground running since joining forces just a few months ago and their debut release Ethnology EP will no doubt be making waves across the scene. On the DJing front they have a monthly show on progressivebeats.com called Ethnoscience which is already gaining many listeners. Just recently we spoke to the guys after they met up in the UK where they say they had a great time which included a photoshoot. A new project is already in the works which we are excited about, more info soon on that. Individually they have material that will be released soon, great times ahead for these two very talented artists. The remix intros with a muted kick as various sounds sweep through. The kicks transform into a nice punchy hit while arps and FX glide across the sound. A tight drum arrangement gets the rhythm flowing with a tribal element running through. On the bottom end a deep droning bass adds great depth to the sound before a solid, driving bassline takes over. The layers continue to build with smooth chords bringing a true progressive vibe alongside subtle melodies. Heading into the break we are confronted with an absolutely stunning sequence where the melodic flavours begin to shine to the backdrop of a huge soundscape. Out of nowhere a wonderful piano riff takes over and really gets the hairs standing at the back of your neck before we ease back into the main groove. Superb stuff from this duo that will definitely be a peak time monster.
