The pursuit of the vinyl revolution continues as Bonzai stay true to their roots and deliver yet another fine slice of wax. Eyepatched Volume 4 follows on from its predecessors with four supreme cuts filled with all the delights of deep fuelled house.
The master of cool Dimitry Liss gets right into the action with his track ‘Gentle Elton’. Perfectly matched kicks and hats provide a solid base for the flowing rhythms as the bassline cuts through the sound beautifully with a groovy flavour. This is backed up with a soul shaking vocal that will get the toes tapping in no time.
The increasingly popular Yaroslav Lenzyak gives us two superb tracks starting with ‘Jupiter’, a wonderfully lush and surreal deep cut. Nice and simple hats alongside a minimal percussion arrangement that adds a lot of character. A low end droning bass shores up the groove while the big focus is on an awesome array of synth sounds that blend together superbly.
On the flip side Yaroslav treats us to an exclusive for this vinyl release with ‘UTZ’. Very cool and classic sounding drum intro eases beautifully into a smooth deep house vibe. The bassline packs a huge punch as it pulsates through the sound while a nice flowing groove is built. An epic endeavour with beautifully melodic twists that are not to be missed.
The impressive Daniel Ray give us his track ‘Water Tunnel’ with its gritty intro made up of cool percs and a thumpy kick. Raw sounding FX start to take over the sound as a stunning bassline builds the momentum. A wonderful mixture of deep piano chords, strings and guitars add a stunning dynamic and makes this a joy to listen to.
Yaroslav Lenzyak is back with this wonderful two tracker entitled ‘Utz’. His last outing ‘Jupiter’ saw rave reviews from all quarters and was featured on Bonzai’s latest vinyl venture ‘Eyepatched Volume 4’.
First up we have the epic ‘Utz’ which gets going with a bass fuelled intro to get the juices flowing. The intro will have you hooked in no time as it hypnotizes you with that pulsing bass. Nice and chunky kicks soon get moving and are joined by smooth percussions which build a rhythm beautifully. Surreal deep house keys seem to morph out of nowhere and bring with them a groovy riff that will have those feet shuffling along to the groove. A truly epic ride through the deeper side of house and one that will bring a lot of pleasure.
Next we have ‘Last Night’, full bodied, phat kicks provide the intro with a nice and subtle hat sitting back and creating a smooth rhythm. A lush synth note stands out and as the track progresses it transforms the sound superbly. The huge deep bass packs a massive punch here and is the power in the track as it pulses through. The track evolves with expert precision as those synths make subtle changes to alter the grooves keeping a nice flowing dynamic in the sound. Superb stuff!
Fresh from his last release, “Panorama”, Yaroslav Lenzyak shows up at Eyepatch with a surreal slice of deep house grooves on this three tracker “Jupiter”. This very talented producer is putting Ukraine firmly on the EDM map with his unique brand of deep house and progressive vibes, and with much more to come it is for sure exciting times ahead.
First up is “Jupiter”, a wonderfully lush and surreal deep cut. The track intros with beautiful easy flowing synths, the kicks ease in gently before their full force begins to pound setting us off on a fantastic journey through house. Nice and simple hats alongside a minimal percussion arrangement that adds a lot of character. A low end droning bass shores up the groove while the big focus is on an awesome array of synth sounds that blend together superbly.
“Delta” intros with cool synths over a complex and very well crafted drum and percussion arrangement while the layers build slowly into a full on deep vibe. The myriad of FX work so well on the sound as a plethora of chords build up to a solid house groove making this a must for any of the deeper sets out there.
“Phantom” gets going with a huge kick intro backed up with some cool percussions and surreal synth pads. Soon a deep pulsating bass takes over giving off a hypnotic vibe while the synths begin to transform adding a new dimension in the sound. An epic ride that will dig deep down into your soul, a definite must in any box.
Ukranian producer Yaroslav returns to Bonzai Progressive after his last instalment under his Pozitive moniker. The two track release “Panorama” comes backed up with two top class remixes. His last track “Colibri” was well received with support coming from all quarters.
The Original mix on “Panorama” serves up a tasty tech house offering with a cool and steady flowing rhythm and a nice deep bass on the lower end. Sharp, crisp hats keep the flow and some nifty acid type sounds give off a raw edge. The break gives us very well crafted pads which seem in total contrast with the sound but blend in perfectly, a nice round of prog to get the party started.
Popular remixer and producer Kevin Vega drops by for a remix and he delivers the goods yet again. Kicking off with a tougher more gritty feel he blends the sounds in his usual unique fashion. The percussions lead to a hypnotic state and the bass sits nicely on the arrangement. A bit of epicness comes through on the sound with the addition of huge soundscapes and very subtle melodies which create tension brilliantly. A top notch remix that would be a welcome addition to any deeper prog set.
Yaroslav’s next track “Tech Clips” brings out the techy side of prog, big chunky kicks are accompanied with some wonderfully arranged percussions and a bassline that reverberates throughout the sound. Tech fuelled synth stabs light up the groove while on the break a fantastic guitar type sound takes over, great stuff!
Purveyor of fine deep grooves Diego Alvez makes a welcome return to the Bonzai stable with his superb remix. Great intro with a shuffled groove that blends effortlessly into a steady four to the floor kick and hat combo. A short melodic arp sequence then dominates the sound and creates a cool progressive charged atmosphere. On the break Diego applies a very cool and strange metallic type synth that captivates and adds intensity, brilliant stuff from Diego!
