RECENT POSTS: Vechigen
Rotterdam based Vechigen return to Elemental after a short hiatus with the wonderfully chilled The Guest House. We last saw this superb artistic group back in May 2014 with Heart Of Croatia and you can expect to be blown away yet again with their brand of totally blissed out vibes.
First up is Chapter One which intros with a cool stuttering hat and a lush swelling pad. A beautifully warm deep bass rises alongside a distant vocal that brings a sweet melodic flow to the sound. Very subtle break beats provide a smooth rhythmic vibe that allows you to lose yourself in the sound. Wonderfully sequenced piano melodies are the highlight of this experience, cascading arps contrast beautifully with softer single hits resulting in a truly uplifting sound. Perfect.
Chapter Two follows on from the first chapter and keeps the focus on those wonderful melodies that are played out with a beautiful piano and rising pads. The main difference between the two is on this track, after the mid-point, a much more intense sequence follows with the introduction of a subtle synth melody and superb flute sequence that really captures the imagination. Simply stunning.
Swiss based artistic group Vechigen return with another of their brilliant creations in the form of ‘Heart Of Croatia’. These guys are what Bonzai Elemental is all about, pure chilled out vibes that enable you to lose yourself just for a short while, blissful.
‘Heart Of Croatia’ sets off with a beautifully serene vibe filled with wispy sounds and sweet melodies to the backdrop of a sharp snare and broken beat arrangement. The melodies become a main focus as they evolve brilliantly with the sound. On the break the pads intensify as they fill with lushness and are joined by surreal whispering vocals. Perfectly chilled slice for those lazy days and nights!
‘Broken Reality’ intros with a fantastically layered choir voice that weave intricate melodic patterns. Softly struck keys join in as a great arp sequence takes shape. The track descends into an arrangement of expertly crafted drum patterns before those pads and strings bring back the melodies. A perfect track for hot summer days by the pool or a cosy evening by the fire.
It’s been a while since we heard from Vechigen here at Elemental. This Swiss based artistic group specialise in super chilled vibes as you will have noticed on their late 2013 release ‘Melbourne’.
First up we are transported into a world of pure bliss with the title track ‘Tell No One’. Subtle intro as a smooth string etches out a warm feeling alongside a bright piano melody before descending into near silence. Just when you don’t expect it a beautifully worked sequence appears filled with soft tones and a wonderful downtempo drum arrangement that will lighten your mood infectiously.
‘Running Through A Forest’ intros with a slow and deep pad, very subtle percussions come through before those pads begin to rise with a euphoric air. A melancholic piano takes over the track and is in perfect harmony with the pads resulting in a truly surreal experience. Big and brash drums come to the fore unexpectedly creating a stark contrast that works brilliantly, simply stunning!

“Melbourne” intros with beautiful swirling pads and a deep resonating synth that sets up the scene perfectly. Subtle percussions fade through before a cool, laidback drum arrangement takes over. Sit back and chill to this wonderfully melodic, feel good slice of downtempo.
Next up is “Who Cares Anyway” and this really turns up the chill factor with a myriad of melodies all vying for attention to the backdrop of arps and a brilliant lush, warm pad. Again we see a very subtle yet highly effective drum section that keeps you hooked in to this blissed out vibe.

The title track is a beautifully warm melodic piece, lush pads and a myriad of FX combine over a laidback drum arrangement resulting in a full on chill down experience. Definitely a track for a relaxing evening at sunset.
“No Comply” takes chillout to a whole new dimension, the vibe created is one of ecstasy as your mind is sucked into the sweet pads. Minimal use of drums keeps the ambient flow while some trippy plucks provide cool melodies, top stuff.
Vechigen are a Swiss based group specializing in the ambient, downtempo, chill out genres. “What We Don’t Know” is their debut on Elemental and an impressive one at that.
The title track gives us an epic movie score vibe, huge big sweeping pads filled with beautiful melodies conjure up a perfectly balanced universe. Superb beats add effect to this and you soon find yourself locked in for the duration.
“We Don’t Change” comes in two versions, the original and vocal mixes. Pure synthesized bliss pours out of the speakers, deeper vibe here with the pads and bass, beautiful voice synths raise the euphoria levels and on the vocal mix we get a spoken vocal that works so well, super chilled vibes all round.
