VAN CZAR FEATURING PADHME – YOU & ME (EYEPATCH RECORDINGS)

[soundcloud id='112393896']

Residing in Madrid, Belgian producer Van is joined in the studio by a mystery guest, Padhme, for their track “You & Me” which comes backed up with a top notch remix. Van is very busy indeed as he churns out quality productions and performs in clubs around Madrid, he also now hosts Bonzai Basik Beats Spain which will soon be broadcasting on multiple radio stations. Padhme is the mysterious partner whom we hope to reveal more info on soon.

The original mix is a masterclass in deep vibes, the intro boasts a chunky kick with a wonderful melancholic synth chord. Crispy, sharp hats begin to appear and the groove is locked on for the duration. The break takes on a surreal vibe as a sensuous vocal meanders through the sound, this creates a quite intense feeling which works superbly well on the track, great stuff.

Polish DJ and producer Marcin Czubala steps up to remix duties with a powerful rework. Marcin has a very impressive back catalogue having appeared on labels like Mobilee Records, Your Mamas Friend, 8 Bit and Recovery Tech just to name a few. He has played in over 300 classical music concerts in the early to mid nineties and it’s this background in music that has put him right at the heart of the electronic sound. His remix kicks off with a classic bassdrum and hat, clap combination which creates a nice steady rhythm, the bass adds a techno twist with sublime pads sweeping through. The vocal sample works well with the sound, but the big focus on this track comes from the stunning synth work, this gives a retro feeling while keeping the overall sound modern. This one is not to be missed!

VAN CZAR – DESPOTE EP (BONZAI BASIKS)

[soundcloud id='107324133']

Van is back on Basiks with his “Despote EP” which is backed up with two top quality remixes. Van’s workload really is impressive and after his last epic release “Delotux” he really hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down. DJing, hosting multiple radioshows, producing and remixing are what he loves to do and he delivers on quality every time.

The Original Mix of “Despote” is a tough and gritty deep techno offering, chunky kicks and crisp hats set up the scene while the bassline creeps in and settles into a solid groove. The FX work here is second to none and the vocal samples are expertly placed which is one of Van’s specialties.

First on remix duty is Insect Society, fresh off the back of the well received “And Cleopatra Wept”. Big thumping kicks on the intro with subtle hats and percussion easing their way into the sound, a deep sub bass is on the offset beat and this will send ripples through any floor. As the track builds we get some cool vocal samples and stunning synths coming into play while a classic siren type FX give this a big arena feel and this is just where a track like this belongs, superb stuff.

Minitech Project returns with his own brand of techno fuelled grooves on the remix. A solid reworking here with big focus on the lower end of the frequencies, stark contrasts are felt with the crisp hats and percussion and we go lower with a throbbing deep bass. Again we see expertly placed vocal samples which have a big impact on the groove, great to see Minitech back and hopefully more to come.

SOLARTOFF – THEY LOVE ME (EYEPATCH RECORDINGS)

[soundcloud id='106332036']

The ever impressive Solartoff marks his full Eyepatch debut with a super smooth round of deep goodness. Solartoff has been responsible for some top notch remixes in the past and today we see his track “They Love Me” get an outing and is backed up with two stunning remixes.

The original Mix kicks off in smooth style with a nice chunky kick backed up with cool percussions. The bassline comes through with a deep lush vibe and some classy house chords ramp up the groove. The vocal sample fits perfectly and on the break we get treated to an amazing round of expert synth work.

Harmon & Landowski are next up with their Rework. The track intros with a tougher edge as the heavy kicks, percussions and amazing bassline carve out a solid flowing groove. The vocal is used sparingly and adds a cool layer to the sound. Superb synth work gives this track a bouncier feel which will do well on floors all over.

Van Czar closes the release with his Club Mix. Van is truly one of the hardest working artists around, he continues to DJ frequently around Madrid and his Bonzai Basik Beats Spain radioshow is gaining popularity all over, this is all topped off with dedicated studio work where he continues to churn out the quality. His mix is a super charged club orientated groove, the kicks have an understated thump which would be so powerful on a great system. The percussion arrangement as usual is top notch and the synth manipulation creates a cool flowing rhythm. Top stuff which will feature on many sets for sure.

VAN CZAR & FRIENDS – DELOTUX (BONZAI BASIKS)

[soundcloud id='100288996']

Our next Basiks release is a very special compilation from one of our most active artists, Van Czar. “Delotux” is the culmination of two years of searching for the right sounds in the right places. Van extensively trawled the underground scene for each of these tracks so he could tell his story through the music. Eight tracks from five artists, three of which are from Van himself. As for Van, well he is still as busy as ever with DJing, producing and hosting the Bonzai Basik Beats Radioshow Spain which is now airing on multiple stations across the globe.

First up is Van Czar with the title track “Delotux”. The intro sets the scene for a mystical ride through the deep house spectrum, rich layered strings probe their way into your soul before a sublime kick and hat combo start to build up a solid rhythm. Sultry deep house chords radiate throughout and these are backed up with Van’s unique FX work that always ties his tracks up to perfection. An epic ten minute journey filled with gritty, tough edged deep house goodness, what a ride!

Next up is Spanish DJ and producer Narol MarGo featuring Mayte Cruz with “Body & Soul”. Narol MarGo has remixed Van’s “Lassitude Active” which was very well received. The track is a master class in deep house with a very powerful bass droning through the spectrum, this is built upon a cool steady and flowing rhythm creating a fantastic groove. The delectable vocals of Mayte Cruz really shine here, deep and melancholic which invokes an emotional response. On the break surreal synth work takes over with just the slightest of melody to hone in on. A monster of a tune with huge appeal.

Zofia Hydel is next with “Paysage Urbain”, a hidden gem of a track full of inventive arrangements and outstanding instruments. The intro is a maelstrom of percussion and FX that seem haphazard yet fall into a splendid rhythmic sequence. A big double bass rises from the depths and many more orchestral instruments make an appearance with the saxophone becoming the most prominent. A simple vocal sample adds extra weight to the sound. This track continues to add new layers at every turn with a string section really lifting the vibe. A sense of hope is the message and a track that will be a big draw for many due to the high quality of the production.

“Le Chic Beat” is Van’s next contribution on this compilation. Nice tight kick and hats accompany a pulsating bassline with the arrangement throwing in some breakbeats on top of the four-four. Van delivers yet again with an array of awesome FX which blend so well with the sound. Very raw groove with a tribal element here and a curious track with a musical “interlude” theme due to its minimalistic nature.

Zofia Hydel is back with another track entitled “La Personne Est Inspireee”. Something special here again from Zofia, a cool and steady flowing rhythm is the backdrop to a kaleidoscope of musical notes delivered with precision via piano and guitar. The piano really stands out with it’s almost surreal melody, this is contrasted well with the big house stabs going on in the background and complimented with quality FX. Top notch stuff that will indeed get those ears twitching.

NaaN is a collab between Spanish producers Marol MarGo and Nacho Almagro. Their track “Psycodelia” pushes the boundaries on deep tech house in spectacular fashion. The drum arrangement sits nicely on the lower end while a huge droning, pulsating bass does all the hard work, and what a job it does as you find yourself hooked into the sound straight away. The synth riffs are top quality as they border on the progressive edge, the track stands fast with the hooks giving off the deep house vibe it truly is. One to watch here and a must for any box.

Belgian duo Kaixta and their track “They Will Go Underground” is up next. Much more of a clubby vibe with an upbeat arrangement, crisp and sharp percussions coupled with a nice thick bassdrum. Cool stabs add to the groove as the rhythm builds through the layers. On the break a crowd pleasing deep bass pulsates before slamming back into this seriously tough groover.

Finally on this stunning album is Van’s “Naked Alice In Wonder Hoz Land”. Tough edged kicks provide the intro with the percussions building up smoothly to give a free flowing rhythmic feel. Big festival atmosphere is generated within the sound as the synths etch out psychedelic melodies that will surely captivate the mind. Quite intricate in its nature but a track that will be easily recognisable and a must for those big parties.

VAN CZAR – MON REVE (EYEPATCH RECORDINGS)

[soundcloud id='100287238']

The very busy Van Czar is back to Eyepatch with another stomping deep house cut entitled “Mon Reve”. The track is backed up with two top notch remixes and proves yet again that when it come to quality then Van is your man.

The original is any deep house fans dream. The intro has a big room feel with a reverbed kick and sharp hat setting off the groove brilliantly, cool vocals fade in and give off a club bar atmosphere while a very simple bass adds huge weight to the sound. Classy, filtered deep house chords are accompanied by a plucky string. On the break the bass takes over alongside a soulful vocal which is the icing on the cake for a truly fantastic cut.

Israeli born Ittai Barkai returns to Eyepatch and is first up to remix duties, big chunky kicks are matched with a wonderfully deep bassline which is both smooth and edgy. Cool percs provide a steady rhythm and very subtle guitars keeps the groove moving. The break goes deeper with some amazing long synths before getting right back into this party rocking vibe, top stuff.

The ever impressive Solartoff gives us his Modulare Remix. A much more upbeat vibe is garnered through brighter sounds, cool bouncy bass and sharp synth stabs are contrasted with a deeper organ sound. The kicks and percussions give off a flowing rhythm which will have any booty shaking. A fun track indeed which will be a welcome addition to any set.

The highly skilled Belgian DJ and producer Van Czar steps up to remix duties with his Hypnotechnique Remix. Van turns up the heat here with a truly sublime effort, the bass along with a very rhythmic percussion section will surely hypnotize your mind. On the break an intense pad beefs up the sound and we are also treated to Van’s expert FX work. After the drop we kick back to the main groove with a blast and the chance to lose yourself for a time, amazing stuff!

Belfast’s own, the Brisboys aka John Manning and Ciaran Duffy, are back with more brilliant house grooves for our pleasure with their remix. Deep down and funky would best describe this superb remix, phat beats are contrasted with crisp percussions and deep, cool house chords that evoke retro memories. Classic style hook on the break and great use of the vocal round of an awesome track.

VAN CZAR – BOUGE (EYEPATCH RECORDINGS)

[soundcloud id='62782519']

Belgian DJ and producer Van Czar debuts on Eyepatch with “Bouge”.

In the early days Van was playing Belgian hard trance as he was heavily influenced by the Cherrymoon Club and in particular the Bonzai sound. Later on he would find the raw side of Detroit Techno and Chicago House and he then started to play gigs around Belgium playing with Sandy Warez in clubs like StarTraxx. As sound evolves so does Van, he now produces quality deep house and tech house but he never forgets his roots in techno.

“Bouge” is a real nice slice of deep funk filled house, heavy on the bass and a thumping kick with sharp percussions all very well arranged over a brilliant funky synth stab, vocal samples comes in on the break and fits well with the sound.

The Van Czar Deep Remix goes deeper still with a constant throbbing groove, the original pieces have been taken down to the depths of house and is quite simply pumping! The vocal sample again is a very welcome addition with very long well crafted delays.

Van Czar’s moniker Cysxe provides another quality remix of his original tune. Much more upbeat vibe with the synth sounds brighter and more prominent, very much tech house with a deep tinge, we’re just loving the vocal on this!

Big release for Van which is sure to be in a lot of playlists all over.
