RECENT POSTS: Steve Mulder
SRUR stalwart Ozan Kanik delivers his next slice of pounding Techno with the superb Back Ally Rally. Last time around we got a dousing of bass driven Techno with Adults Only which was very well received. Aside from that there was a lot of activity on the remix front with a monster remix on Oz Romita’s revamped Idiots. Back Ally Rally comes packed to the hilt with no less than four top notch remixes as well as the original.
The Original Mix is a heavy hitter with pounding kicks and a throbbing bass that lurks in the rear while crispy open hats fill up the higher frequencies with a very cool release giving a nice aftertaste. A sinister sounding pad remains a constant throughout the track and adds a lot of depth to the sound alongside some super cool vocals that stand out brilliantly. A proper slice of pounding Techno grooves that will definitely be a go to track in your collection.
Canadian DJ and producer D-Unity debuts on SRUR with a stunning remix. With releases on various top quality labels like Universal Music, Toolroom, Yoshitoshi, Great Stuff, Stereo Productions, Ultra and Armada, and his own Beat Therapy Records we know we’re in for a stomping good time. He’s also played at various gigs all over the world where he delivers his own unique style through solid DJ sets, great to have him on board here. The remix certainly ramps up the groove with a tough, in your face pumping kick drum that really hits the mid-rift with great force. The bass is perfectly tweaked to merge beautifully with those kicks and the two together really will shale the bins no doubt. A nice and tight drum arrangement provides a smooth rhythm to the track as a constant pad hangs about the background. Great use of the vocals that work so well with the sound here making this a must have track for peak time madness.
Dutch DJ and producer Steve Mulder returns to SRUR with his brilliant remix. It’s been a while since Steve graced these shores, back in 2013 he featured on our ADE sampler with Matador. Since then he has racked up a raft of releases on various labels including Toolroom Records, Hi Tek Records, Mad Hatter Recordings and Tegno Records, great to see him back. On the remix we are taken down the rabbit hole of Techno. From punchy kicks to bright hats and solid bass to hypnotic chants, we enter into a maelstrom of noise that blends together so effortlessly. The vocals are used sparingly allowing the arrangement to churn out its sublime grooves. A superb slice of Techno that be right at home in the darker rooms.
Netherlands based Don Ruijgrok debuts on SRUR and what an entrance he makes with his remix. Don can boast a very impressive release count and his work has gained the support of many top jocks including Richie Hawtin, Sasha Carassi, Slam, Axel Karakasis, Piatto, Electric Rescue, Secret Cinema, D.A.V.E. The Drummer and Tom Hades. His works can be found on the labels like Capsula, Globox, Plastic Rules, High Definition Records, MBD, Selected Records, LCMTC, Phobiq, Respekt Recordings, Driving Forces and Akoom Records. Nice to have him on board with this one. Nice big thumping kicks get us on the move alongside a sharp hat. A deep reverberating bass swells up from below and drives a solid Techno groove into our brains. The vocal gets a hefty dose of delay which really enhances the character of the sound. Cascading arp riffs fill in the gaps and take us on a swirling hypnotic ride before spitting us out back into the driving groove. Outstanding track that is a definite must have.
Atesh K. Is another debutant here at SRUR and we are thrilled to have him on board. Atesh has a longstanding electronic music career which started back in the 90’s. Born in Cyprus he has always had an interest in music and began to DJ in the early 90’s. By 2002 he had his first release on Berlin based DJ Sets Records. Since then he has released on many other labels and his music gets regular support from Richie Hawtin, Alex Flatner and Marco Bailey to name just a few. The remix begins life as cool bass note with distant percussions fading through. A monster kick takes over alongside a wonderful probing, deep bass that gives off a cool retro feel. Super tight drum arrangements provide a solid rhythm that will definitely get the dancing feet going. As the vocal fade up the intensity builds in the groove as that bass just eats into your brain forcing you to surrender. The break throws up a fantastic display of effects on the vocals that give a surreal edge to the sound before slamming right back into the main groove for the duration. Superb stuff that is not to be missed.
