Dutch DJ and producer Dr Mabuze returns to SRUR with the fantastic two track Universe EP which comes in two original cuts alongside two quality remixes. We last saw this guy round these parts back in March 2015 with Same Question on Muzika Volume 10 which gained great support from far and wide. With a fast rising profile on the scene, he has played at top clubs across Europe including multiple appearances in Ibiza and has seen releases on labels like Baroque Records and Babylon Records. He also guests regularly on several Europe wide radio stations where he delivers his own brand of Techno goodness.
The Original Mix of On The Earth intros with a solid kickdrum with an underlying bass tone that gives it a big punch. The bass lurks on the low end with menace as sharp contrasting hats and cymbals etch out a rhythmic vibe. We get drawn deeper into the Techno underworld as the arrangement tightens up for the duration. Top notch stuff that is not to be missed.
Rod B. aka USA based DJ and producer Rodrigo Barreto returns to SRUR with his remix for On The Earth and pulls out a Techno monster that will be a definite go to track for the purists. Rodrigo’s last outing was on remix duty for Oz Romita’s Idiots back in early 2015. Previously he showed up on Dany Cohiba’s Liquid Cha, Ed Whitty & Gabriel Ben’s Epoch as well as his own cut 24H Amsterdam which appeared on the Best Of SRUR 2013 and our ADE Sampler in the same year. The remix intros with a subtle percussion section with distant sounds beginning to fade through. A crisp electro styled hat leads us into the punchy kick and the track is on course. Deep, sinister sounding vocals are brought in and add the deeper elements to the sound. The first break throws up a wonderful clanging, metallic themed synth that just owns the track and cuts off the smoother techno edges to leave behind a rough and ready stomper. Superb stuff that will turn a few heads for sure.
The original mix of On The Moon sets off with a cool cosmic, spacey vibe as strange sounds converge to the backdrop of a crystal clear hat and cymbal arrangement. The other worldly vibe continues to develop with the introduction of a beautifully crafted bassline that gives the impression it’s alive and kicking. We find ourselves totally drawn into the sound as hypnotic elements ooze out and grab on to our senses. The break keeps the theme going with a dark, grooving sequence before we get thrust back to the main event. Excellent stuff that will fill the late night floors for sure.
SRUR regular Harun Karabulut returns with a superb remix for On The Moon. We’ve seen Harun several times around the SRUR office and we know he always delivers the goods with his fantastic brand of Techno. Here the remix intros with a solid, powerful kick that dominates the sound throughout. The kicks are met by an equally impressive bass that holds up the low end beautifully with its powerful probing prowess. Cool FX litter the groove and really brings the Techno roots of the track to life. On the offbeat we get treated to a very cool noisy synth that takes hold and doesn’t let go for the duration. Another fantastic Harun cut that will not disappoint.
Our next SRUR release is a remix package with something for everyone. No less than six top remixers have been drafted to unleash their skills on Oz Romita’s Idiots. Idiots first saw the light of day way back in February 2012, it was also the very first release on Oz’s brand new Sounds R Us Recordings, a label that has grown into a very recognisable brand with a distinctive music output which is supported throughout the world. SRUR boss Oz continues to be at the forefront when it comes to quality, his staggering back catalogue is testament to this as well as the huge support from DJ’s, producers and fans alike. Lots more is planned for 2015 so keep your eyes and ears peeled.
First up on remix duty is Ozan Kanik who is fresh off the back of his Adults Only which saw great support since its December 2014 release. From the off we are thrust into an energetic Techno monster with solid beats and a fantastic rolling bassline. Crispy open hats give cool contrasts between the deeper bass elements and provide for a steady rhythmic vibe. Cool chords litter the background as spicy FX add wonderful textures to the sound. A subtle synth note gives a whole new dimension as we continue on this relentless ride through Techno. A definite monster of a track that will have floors jumping for sure.
Tash aka Greek DJ and producer Tassos Papagiannoulis debuts on SRUR with this superb remix. Tassos was surrounded by music as a child and this had a huge impact in his growing. He would go on to organise music events from just 13 years old, late, he would begin to play at many venues in his hometown. In 2005 he formed DJM Productions where he would continue to grow his event roster. Having graced the decks with many very famous DJ’s and played at some of the world’s top venues, Tassos brings a wealth of experience to the table. The remix intros with a flourish as nice and phat kicks a licked with scattered percussions before a smooth synth rises up bringing a Tech flavour. A wonderfully warm driving bass surfaces soon after and gets the track firmly into its groove. A very smooth and rich pad eases into the sound and brings a wonderful, almost uplifting melancholic vibe to the sound before we get right back down to the business end of this Tech stomper. This one will not disappoint.
Moll steps into the remix arena next with his superb slice. Moll’s At The Dawn on Bonzai Basiks back in the summer of 2014 performed very well indeed. He also had a stint on Club Traxx – Dark & Deep 2. Much more to come from Moll so stay tuned. Here he gets right into a Techno flow from the off as bright, crispy hats line up against snappy claps and a muted kick. Cool FX filter through as we are blasted with a superb punchy kick that pounds out a steady rhythm. A warm bass shores up the low end beautifully and leave room for expertly crafted synths to dominate. The break is a masterclass in effects as the mids and highs get put through their paces before we are slammed back into the groove. Tight mixing and a brilliant slice of Techno that will sit well in any set.
Italian DJ and producer Francesco Dinoia delivers a truly sublime Tech cut with his remix. Francesco started to get interested in DJing from a young age, he soon developed the skills needed which also led him into the producing world. After just a few years he has notched up quite an impressive repertoire of releases across many labels. A talent worth keeping an eye on for sure. On the remix he brings his Tech flavours to the fore. The intro delivers a punchy kick with a crispy offset closed hat that brings a sharp edge to the sound. A deep bass sits perfectly on the low end as various percussions and drums provide a solid rhythmic platform. Deep rooted, relentless grooves that are sure to be a firm favourite among many.
Netherlands based DJ and producer Rajiv Jay returns to SRUR with his fantastic remix. Rajiv debuted here back in the Summer of 2014 with Lovers EP which gained much support. He also got a run out on our Muzika Volume 8 which also saw great support. Here he toughens up the groove with a raucous Techno offering. The intro sets off with a solid driving beat filled with low end kicks and sharp hats. A wonderful chord sequence filters up and gets the groove rocking for the duration. Tight drum patterns keep the rhythm flowing as that chord sequence comes to prominence. The break warms up the chords before we get churned back into the main sound. A rip roaring energy driven slice that will have floors bouncing.
Rod B. Rounds up this superb package with his remix. We last saw Rob back in Spring 2014 when he teamed up with JPhilipps on their wonderful remix for Dany Cohiba’s Liquid Cha. Rod does what he does best and injects the grooves with infectious amounts of Tech House that force you to move. The track subtly builds with distant hats and snappy snares before a phat kick takes over. Superb drum patterns bring a steady rhythm before the track breaks to reveal the star of the show. The bass walks through the sound beautifully with its warm tones and groovy licks. A robotic voice accompanies the sound on the main break before we head back into the main track. Stunning effort here that will be a welcome addition in any set.
Dany Cohiba is back at SRUR with his superb track ‘Liquid Cha’ which comes backed up with two stunning remixes.
The Original Mix gets us moving with cool, flowing intro as the kicks and percussion etch out a solid rhythmic patter. A deep bass enters the fray and just sits back perfectly allowing the track to flow while a fantastic retro themed tube sound takes full focus. A typically infectious record from Dany and one that will no doubt get a lot of attention.
SRUR’s own Ozan Kanik is up first with his superb remix. Nice and steady intro with percussions doing all the work before a truly massive kick and phat bass combi take over the sound. Proper full flowing Techno grooves on this one and full of energy to boot. The break adds in some cool FX and a fantastic display of drum arrangement. The tube sound from the original makes a showing and has a stunning impact on the groove. Definitely one to watch here!
JPhilipps & Rod B. debut on SRUR with an absolute stomper of a remix. The guys dig deep and bring out a stunning display of Techno grooves. The remix intros with a smooth bass sound and a nice punchy kick on top. A deeper more tweaked bassline is introduced and a very cool array of percussions give the track a rhythmic vibe. A perfect addition to those deeper Tech sets that is not to be missed.

Analog Effect aka Dutch duo Jan Boom and Branko Van Hilten are up next with “Plovdiv”. The guys are fresh off the back of their last SRUR outing alongside Jay Junior with “Diffuser EP”. This time around the guys take techno into deeper grooves and come up with a proper banging track, superb stuff.
Ozan’s third contribution is in collaboration with CLN83 on their track “Neat & Clean” which saw great reviews upon release. For this comp the Drumcomplex & Roel Salemink Remix was chosen and it brings with it a darker more sinister techno sound that has a huge effect as it draws you in completely.
Miami based DJ and producer Rod B. is back with his full SRUR release after well received remixes earlier in the year. “24HR Amsterdam” is a classic driving techno groove and just what you’d expect from the highly talented Rod B..
W&DY aka Wendy Wustlich is up next to showcase her diverse skills in production. This time Wendy turns on the progressive house with attitude tap and what we get is the stunning “Heartbeat” which will for sure get those pulses racing!
Label head honcho Oz thumps out a fantastic deep house joint on his track “Changes”. Oz has a brilliant and unique way of injecting energy into his sounds and here is no different, yes it’s deep house and yes it’s full of energy which is what we like!
Finishing off this amazing pack is the talented duo of M.R.T.N AKA Sthlm Beat and Pomp with “Behind The Iron Curtain”. Massive techno sound on the with a harder edge groove, a track that will have the floors at ADE bouncing for sure.
Gabriel and Ed join forces for a round of top quality techno on SRUR with “Epoch”. US based Gabriel is returning to these shores after a very well received remix on Ozan Kanik’s “Enough” while Irish native but now residing in Florida, Ed, is making his SRUR debut. Both Ed and Gabriel have seen a multitude of releases across many labels focusing mainly on techno and house and they have both worked with many top artists over the years.
The original mix of “Epoch” is a testament to the sound coming from this quality label at the moment, high octane in your face techno delights for the more energetic house parties. Bouncy rhythms with smooth basslines and some brilliant classic type techno-house synths, big sound here for any jock to get the floors moving.
Brazilian DJ Anderson Noise enters the arena with a superbly crafted minimalistic techno remix. Anderson is a major player on the scene having DJed in over 30 countries, released more than 50 tracks, 2 DVD’s, many compilations and runs his own label Noise Music. Here he strips the sound right back to its raw form and applies it in style to his own taste, almost primitive beats that pack a huge punch come flying out and that bassline will move any ass to the floor. Top quality FX and percussions add weight to the sheer rawness of this sound, one for the pure hearts here, top stuff!
Up next is Brazilian trio Re Dupre, Rod B. & Angelo Fracalanza with their collective top notch remix. All three make their SRUR debut and all three can be considered veterans in their field due to the mega amount of output from their labels. Re Dupre is the founder of PopArt , Miami Underground Records and Sessions Records all of which feature heavily on the Miami circuit. Rod B. is a graduate of SAE Miami in Audio Technology (Recording Arts) and is a main feature at some big events across southern US and afar. Angelo is a graduate of Music Production and he likes to focus on melodic tech house with lots of percussion. All three guys have appeared on many of the labels mentioned and their collective sound sits well on this label. The remix itself is a real upbeat slice of tech with lots going on, but the big focus is on the bassline, one of those bassline that just moves you! Tight arrangements and a solid groove all round, awesome stuff!
