Antonio returns to Progrez with this stunning two track EP entitled ‘I Believe In The Music’. His last outing ‘Pistachios Escape EP’ saw much support across the board. Recently Antonio dished out a brilliant mix for Bonzai Basik Beats radio show which gained many listeners. Lots more to come from this guy so stay tuned.
First up we have ‘Da Melo’, the intro boasts a cool dark themed kick that packs a big punch. Surreal vibrato pads add an eerie element to the sound as the groove begins to tighten up. The bass delivers a truly deep vibe as it pulsates through the sound with teasing synth notes easing in. A very minimal dark progressive vibe that will cause a stir in those more edgy sets!
‘Off Shot’ intros with a very cool kick and synth combi that sets up a smooth and flowing groove to the sound early on. Nice and crisp hats sit perfectly as other percussions build up all around. The track has a transformation when that huge bass kicks in, this bass has various layers that ebb and flow beautifully having a huge impact overall. A cool melancholic riff is the perfect accompaniment and comes to the fore on the break, before we are thrust back into the groove in this darkly sinister prog stomper.
MetrONomes are a progressive DJing and production duo by Jon ManimaL & Magros who have been regular contributors to our Progrez imprint. The guys always deliver the goods and this three tracker entitled ‘Roll & Rock’ is no exception.
‘Roll & Rock’ intros with a deep growl and a big chunky kick accompanied by some very cool percussion elements. Growling basses continue to rise up as a deep and dark vocal sample comes through. The track lets loose a funky bassline that gives the sound a huge character and is joined by lots of warping effects later on. A full on progressive groove with a cool twist that will not disappoint!
‘The Dark Age Is’ rattles home a monster bass that will shudder any floor as it pounds away alongside a chunky kick and rhythmic percussion arrangement. The kicks and bass filter down lulling you in before that huge bass slams back right in your face. An array of cool FX create flowing textures throughout and on the break darker elements come out of the shadows before heading right back into the main track. A surreal experience is created with softly rising pads that adds a new dimension, powerful stuff!
‘Soulfood’ intros with a pulsating bass and comes married with really cool FX which blend well and give an edgy texture. The bass is a big feature and will set floors alight all over. Nice chunky kicks and shuffling percussions give a cool rhythmic vibe to the sound. Strangely eerie synths pop out of the woodwork and pave the way for a soulful vocal that sweeps across the groove. Beautiful sweeping pads come through and give an epic feel to this prog stomper.
New York City based DJ and producer James Gill debuts on Progrez with the stunning two tracker ‘Deep Meditation’. James has been around electronic music for over 16 years and is a fully trained studio engineer. He has seen his music appear on top labels since 2010 and his efforts have been supported worldwide by some major players on the scene.
‘Deep Meditation’ is up first and on the intro a deep pounding kick powers up the groove with cool percussive effects lending support. The bass eases its way through as it bubbles from below before driving the sound on relentlessly. The break leads the track perfectly into its next stage as a superbly worked synth with an acid line feel takes over. Subtle melodies lie in wait as teasing pads begin to filter through. Quality stuff from James and a must for any box.
‘Icarus’s Wings’ intros with a full on chunky kick and hat combo with some cool percussion sounds adding weight. The bass rises from the depths and gives the track a robust vibe while creating a hypnotic groove. Pure deep progressive vibes are what we get here and will be sure fire hit with many jocks the world over.
Italian DJ and producer Antonio Citarella debuts on Progrez with this stunning two tracker ‘Pistachios Escape EP’. Antonio became fascinated and attracted by analogue synths and electronic music production after he cut his teeth on the DJ circuit where he was an avid vinyl user before moving into the digital arena. A very talented artist who will no doubt make waves in the years ahead.
First up we have the title track ‘Pistachios Escape’, the intro is an intense affair with huge, deep resonating synths ebbing and flowing alongside a subtle hi hat sequence. Soon a mega low bass morphs into the sound before a thumping kick gets the track into full swing. Sublime swirly synths find their way into the track as the bassline evolves and dishes out a quality deep progressive vibe.
‘Snakes In The Head’ is up next and the intro boasts a cool rhythmic percussion arrangement with a nice chunky kick adding weight. A deep bubbly bass soon takes over as we settle into a solid grooving progressive ride. Darkly sinister and intense synths rise from the depths as the layers build giving the track a hypnotic vibe which is further enhanced with a hauntng vocal, sublime stuff!
Ivan Shadrin aka Ego Progressus is back with this two tracker entitled ‘The Ink Of Night’. His last outing on Progrez ‘Dark Story’ was well received which is a tip of the hat to this fine producer.
First up is the title track ‘The Ink Of Night’, the intro is a simple punchy kick and crispy hat combination with a warm pad soon following. Cool FX start to come through before a grungy type synth leads us into the darker recesses of progressive house. A short break takes us into this realm further as the synths intensify and the percussions escalate. The bassline comes through as a construction of many sounds which has a huge impact overall giving an organic flavour to the vibe. Intense and amazing.
‘White Church’ sets off with a multitude of percs and FX over a cool kick, the percussions continue to build as a dark bass pokes through. The track takes on a very percussion focused drive that produces flowing rhythms with very cool sequences. Expertly crafted track indeed which ebbs closer to techno with a progressive edge.
Hungarian producer Bence Soveny aka 10000 Sounds Project marks his Bonzai debut on our top progressive imprint Progrez with “Artificial”. The track come with a fantastic remix and is a testament to the talents of this young artist.
The Original Mix sets off in a steadily building smooth and flowing rhythm that builds momentum effortlessly. Tight drum and percussion arrangements keep things moving nicely with very cool FX work adding textures. The bassline is a work of art as it meanders through the sound revealing many different layers as a sinister sounding synth comes into play.
Kiev based Ivan Shadrin aka Ego Progressus is fresh off the back of his well received “Dark Story EP”. Here he delivers his Edit which transforms the sound beautifully keeping the grooves running deep with a superb hypnotic bassline. The drum sections are beautifully crafted with the kicks standing out with a nice thump. Darkly FX run through the sound and on the break an almost eerie vibe takes over as strange synths take hold. Brilliant stuff destined to be among many sets at those late night venues!
Progressive DJing and production duo Jon ManimaL & Magros aka metrONomes are back with a superb three track dark progressive house offering. The guys have been regular features on Bonzai’ classic label Progrez for some time now with their last release “AtomON” performing well on the circuit. This time around the quality remains on top form with their “Mea Culpa EP”.
The title track “Mea Culpa” sets off on a dark progressive journey with a deep rolling bassline. Subtle percussions and FX start to build and a cool chunky kick settles into a nice groove. As the track progresses it delves into a full on hypnotic ride that digs deep into your mind. Expertly crafted and very faint pads rise up from the background adding great texture to the sound, top notch stuff yet again from these guys!
“Roots” is up next and takes on a cool prog house groove from the intro. Solid and steady rhythms are built on the tight drum arrangement with snappy percussions doing the job nicely. The bass resonates through the sound keeping the track firmly rooted while melancholic pads provide a hint of melody, superb effort and definitely one to watch!
“Vatos Locos” goes right into the action with a chunky kick and full on offbeat bass. Subtle pads weave through to great effect and a sinister vocal makes a show throughout. The track builds nicely with percussions coming through late on and delivering a flowing rhythm. Very haunting in places with a true deep progressive house vibe as the end result, excellent stuff!
Kiev based Ivan Shadrin aka Ego Progressus returns to Progrez with another of his darkly sinister progressive monsters entitled “Dark Story EP”.
Taking us right into the murky depths of progressive vibes we have “Dark Boom”. The track intros with a heavy kick and eerie sounding FX and vocal. The bass sits back waiting to pounce as a myriad of percussive and synth effects haunt the groove. On the break the tension builds with a macabre pad and drone combination which is coupled with that mysterious vocal. Perfect choice for those very late night parties and Halloween events!
“Story Galaxy” is up next with its classic kick and hat intro which leads into some really cool FX. The bassline rises up through different layers giving it a very diverse texture. The percussions build the rhythms smoothly and soon we get locked in to a dark hypnotic groove with some cool added vocals from a great mind of our time. Another stomper from this superb talent.
Spanish DJ and producer Ruben Losada debuts on Progrez with his two tracker, “The Creature Of The Tenth Planet”. Ruben got into music from an early age and he honed his DJing skills playing in and around Madrid since 2006. Soon he began to produce in various styles and these two track are a testament to a talented, hard working artist.
The title track gets us moving with classic styled intro, chunky kicks and sharp hats, these set up a cool flowing rhythm which the track is built on. Very surreal FX begin to make a show and these strangely alien sounds do the title justice. A fluent rolling baseline takes full focus when it rises through the sounds. Intensity starts to build as stunning long noted synths with sequenced pulses rush in, superb stuff!
“Something In The Sky” dishes out a strong progressive house vibe for the get go. Snappy kicks are married with minimal percussion over a pulsating bassy sound with cool FX edging through. Percussions build and build settling into a solid rhythm as the bass intensifies combining the sounds well. The track goes on a merciless journey creating hypnotic grooves that will no doubt get the darker sets rocking.
Debut release on Progrez for producer Ressive with the two tracker “Feel Heaven”.
“Feel Heaven” gets right into prog house mode from the off with a fantastic well rounded kick and cool synth riff. Solid rhythms are steadily built which morph into a superb groove alongside a warm house bass. Arpeggio synths become a big focus as they weave a complex melodic sequence that is always on the rise. Very well crafted and definitely one to watch.
“Varicolored” powers straight into full on mode with a well balanced kick and mashed up with superb percussions. The darkly droning synths create a sinister vibe which contrasts beautifully with the bass and some of the brighter synths, these synths ebb and flow and tease with cool melodies adding a rich dynamic to the sound, top notch grooves.
Metronomes are a progressive DJing and production duo by Jon ManimaL & Magros, the guys last outing Progrez “Inceptions” was well received. Today we have “AtomON”, a two tracker with all the glory of progressive house wrapped up in a neat package.
“AtomON” intros with minimal percussion which builds nicely as the bass and kicks get the rhythm moving into a solid slice of prog. Cool acid type lines give off a techno vibe which works very well with the groove. The break delivers more acid style with subtle FX shoring up the sound. An all round strong track with the power to enhance any set.
“AbeBaBlom” is a pure deep prog stomper, again we see an element of techno thrown in which really does match so well with this groove. Big thundering kicks and tight arrangement provide a solid rhythm with a multitude of percussive sounds providing backup. The track gets sinister in parts due to the growling FX. A monster of a tune which is sure to have any party rocking.
Debuting on Progrez we have the talented Yuriy From Russia – who is in fact – from Russia. Yuriy has appeared on many labels and boasts a very impressive back catalogue. Here we are treated to a single tracker entitled “Stalker” which is a perfect addition to the Progrez repertoire.
Standard issue intro with a nice chunky kick and hats providing the building blocks for a ride through the progressive underworld. A very sinister sounding deep bassline is the main focus here, the bass takes full control and the note changes are infectious. The percussions build layer after layer and subtle FX work brings the vibe together. Deep prog synths come through on the break alongside a brilliant pad then the bass comes to take pride of place once more, simply stunning stuff!
Ukrainian producer Yaroslav Lenzyak aka Pozitive returns with a quality two track release entitled “Colibri”. Pozitive is rising fast on the international circuit and he delivers his sounds using many different hardware synths and controllers to great effect.
The title track “Colibri” intros with a dark vibe manifested in the deep thud on the kicks and deep bass drone. Very subtle percussions begin to work their way into the sound while a melancholic plinky piano sound comes through. The track continues to build and a real cool deep prog groove ensues. On the way we are treated to an awesome surreal melody and some stunning pad work, great stuff!
“In The Sky” takes a slightly different route on the intro with a much more techy approach. Cool bright sounds work well together before a tight kick comes in along with a superb analogue style bass. Plenty of FX here that fits perfectly in the sound and as we continue the track begins to become much more progressive with a brilliant melody. The bass transforms into a warm lush affair and on the break we are in full prog mode leading up to a fantastic climax and then right back into the groove, very cool sounds perfect for any playlist.
Based in Kiev, Ukraine, Ivan Shadrin aka Ego Progressus debuts on Progrez with this stunning dark themed progressive monster. Ivan is very much an advocate of the darker side of prog and this come through in his live sets. He has developed an outstanding musical taste and it is this that inspires him to form out his dark and sometimes tribal vibes.
Kicking off we have the short “Hypno Intro”, straight away you feel the dark elements within Ivan’s sound, deep sinister vocals and haunting pads combine well to create an intensely charged atmosphere, nice start!
The title track “Hypnosphere” intros with a good old solid kick and bass combi with crispy clear percussions showing up. This track then begins a journey that builds layer upon layer, on this journey the tension rises as the dark elements begin to creep through. On the break the true dark nature of this tune is exposed and we get a climax of pure, raw progressive house with a classic tribal undertone. Very well crafted track and a must for those darker sets.
“Mare Orientale” takes on a much more industrial theme with a lot of metallic sounds yet retaining that prog house vibe. We still get the dark grooves and eerie sounds, the beauty of this track is the multitude of sounds that do a great job of keeping you hooked, if only to hear what other sounds come through. A top notch track indeed and one you will listen to over and over.
