The guys got together in 2011 and realised they had the same musical tastes which led them to start producing together. They draw influences from the sounds of Chicago and Detroit which is evident in their superb recordings. Here they make their Piston debut with the wonderful three track Hey Man EP.
First up is the title track Hey Man which sets off with a percussion led intro and a huge punchy kick with cool vocal samples that add a cool old school vibe. A bouncy bassline comes through and takes the track right onto the floor with groovy rhythms and tight arrangements. The vocals become a big focus with smooth deep house synths adding that smooth touch. Brilliantly crafted track that will be a big hitter on many floors.
Solid Groove is up next and is the perfect description for this sound. Big pounding kicks and crispy sharp percussions set the scene beautifully for this groove. The bass rises up from deep within the sound and throbs right through the groove as very cool FX come in alongside a fantastic synth riff. Instantly recognisable vocal samples add that classic touch which will definitely see this track hit the floors hard.
In Da Houz intros with some very cool percussions that get the rhythms flowing with the help of a chunky kick and some classic vocal samples. The bassline walks through the sound leaving a groovy ass shaking aftertaste that will keep the floors moving. Cool house synths pop up now and then and bring an old school vibe with them which works beautifully with the vocals. Top notch cut from the guys that is not to be missed.
