UK based dirtFlush debuts on Piston with Venice. dirtFlush released his first single Rock The Disco on Lantus Records and was soon riding high on download charts. Here we are treated with two deep fuelled tracks that will get the floors pumping no doubt.
First up we have Venice which intros with a nice punchy kick with a bubbling bass beginning to form underneath. Classic percussions provide a smooth rhythmic flow as house chords start to fade through. The chords are short stabby hits that really give that true sense of a deep house groove. The break lets those stabs loose as they stretch and modulate giving off a much more bouncier vibe. Top notch debut and a definite must have.
180 Degrees intros with a muted kick alongside subtle percussions. Deep warm notes begin to fill the space as a pulsing bass comes through with the assistance of some expertly tweaked vocal samples. The deep notes begin a fantastic journey as they are filtered and modulated leaving behind a minimal groove. Cool FX add smooth textures to the sound and we are soon locked right into the groove. Great stuff that will get any party started.
Troy Douglas debuts on Piston with the superb Hipster Break. Hailing out of Stockholm the guys are mostly a DJing trio who like to have an awesome time.
First up we have the full on dance beats of Hipster Break which intros with a classic kick and hat combi. Cool percussions lurk in the background and a smooth deep bassline brings up the rear. Snappy vocal samples lead us into the main track proper where the bass begins to have a huge impact alongside cool and groovy deep house keys. Hip Hop elements break through on the break with a brilliant rap styled sample taking full control. Perfect floor fodder here and definitely not to be missed.
Lazersack intros with a round hats and cymbals that begins to get the rhythms flowing. Cool, chunky kicks and a stabby synth fade through leading up to a stomping floor filling groove. A deep pulsing bass lurks in the rear and sits perfectly allowing those stabs to dominate. On the break cool vocal samples come through alongside a classic crowd FX. Funky, deep and dancey grooves, perfect for summer parties anywhere.

As the vinyl resurgence continues to gain momentum Piston Recordings head honcho Rogerio Martins has selected top quality cuts to make up the next vinyl release entitled ‘Ghetto Tales EP Volume 2′. Rogerio is joined by friends Miguel Reis, Carlo Caldareri and Yusuke Yamamoto as four stunning deep house slices are etched onto plastic so you can enjoy the analogue pleasure of putting the needle on the record. Undoubtedly the best way to listen to music, you will not be disappointed.
First up is Rogerio with his exclusive Taking It Back. As ever Rogerio continues to run a tight ship putting in the hours running the label, DJing, remixing and producing. Lots more to come through for 2014 so it’s worth keeping an eye on. The intro goes classic with a chunky kick and sharp hat combo along with a well crafted snare arrangement. The rhythms soon gather pace as a beautifully lush bass joins in. Groovy house keys add great depth to the sound while simple vocal samples sit back before being unleashed with a long release. The break brings forth a deeper sub bass that marries perfectly with those vocals before slamming back into the main groove. Top class stuff yet again from Portugal and a great addition to those “physical” record boxes.
Miguel Reis is up next with his Classic Motherfucker Record. Miguel Reis is a new moniker and is the very same artist with a multitude of releases under the alias of Mike Kings who has seen tracks on labels like Nervous Records, Stereo Productions, Kult Records, Session Trax, Fatal Music, Magna Recordings, and many more. The track intros with a nice mix of kicks and percs which set up a smooth rhythmic vibe, a deep, rasping vocal comes in with a very cool narrative which blends perfectly with the house beats. The track builds steadily as the vocal becomes a big focus before a truly deep and groovy bassline comes to the fore and injecting a funky flavour to the sound, top stuff.
Italian born DJ and producer Carlo Caldareri is back to Piston with this exclusive vinyl cut Not Before. Since he was young he always cultivated a passion for music, he spent the first years of his career looking into different genres of music. Soon he focused in on house music and his DJ sets began to take on house and deep house grooves. Carlo has worked with top artists and his tracks have appeared on many labels including Digital Traffik, Microtech Records and Mono Recordings to name just a few. Here the track intros with a cool percussion arrangement before classic styled kicks gets the sound locked into a solid groove. The bass rules from below as it cascades up through the sound, simple and effective short vocal samples add huge weight to the groove as the track takes us into a gritty workout complete with brass stabs. The break unleashes a brilliant Hip Hop styled vocal sample that leads us right back into this full on deep house monster groover.
Yusuke Yamamoto aka Freischwimmer delivers with his stunning Night Journey which is exclusive to this vinyl release. Yusuke is a contemporary house music producer and DJ currently based in Kyoto, Japan. His authentic sound remains universal and independent of trends and periods. He runs his own label Vacances Records and has seen release on many other labels including Oasi Lab, Houseworx, City Life, Ibiza House Hotspot and more. His last outing on Piston ‘Sun Shower EP’ was well received and is a testament to the eclectic nature of his style. A minimal sounding approach with a nicely clipped kick and percussion combo while a cool atmosphere is created in the background with great FX work. A simple yet highly effective bass joins the fray and soon transforms into a dominating force in the sound. Cool synth keys hypnotise and are joined by a much tougher synth riff that has a gritty edge. Throughout the sound a brilliant vocal sample keeps the groove flowing and continues through the break where a striking high pitched string comes in and leads us back into the swing of the main groove. Great stuff from Yusuke and definitely not to be missed.

Different Heat gets you right into a smooth deep house vibe right from the off with a nice chunky kick and muted synth combo that builds beautifully into a full on pumping deep house cut. Nice crispy hats provide a cool contrast to the lower end sounds as a silky analogue bass come through. Sharp hats are soon joined by a very cool drum arrangement as smooth chords litter the background. A sweeping synth pad filters through as the groove gathers momentum and takes us up to the break where a cool vocal sample joins the party, all the while a stunningly deep bass shores up the lower end in style as this perfectly tweaked deep house joint weaves its magic, brilliant!

Super tight arrangement that will be a big feature for many floors no doubt.
No introduction needed for Piston boss Rogerio Martins as he steps up with a superb remix. Beautifully tapered kicks pack a huge punch on the intro and throughout as the rolling percussions build us up to the main groove. The groove is intensified with a brilliant deep bass that has the power to move, this is coupled with a classy chord that filters in and out beautifully. Silky smooth female vocals give it the club feel making this an absolute gem of a track that will light up many floors this summer!

Spanish DJ and producer Andres Boned aka Bonetti delivers a stunning remix of The Colour Of Your Heart as he takes the sound through a pure house workout with sublime twists and turns. We recently saw Bonetti’s ‘My House Of Neglect’ on Piston which done the rounds in style. This remix is top notch as it nurtures the original sounds into a driving house groove filled with sublime organ riffs that will have you hooked in no time and a super tight drum arrangement that will have the asses shaking all night long. All this is shored up by a very cool and deep bass that sits perfectly within the sound. Cool vocal samples are evident throughout and keep with the street vibe of the original. Top notch stuff from Bonetti, not to be missed.
The next track we have is the Original Mix of Not NY. The intro is a smooth percussion led sequence with a classic wood hit that drives the tempo beautifully. A fantastic stab teases its way into the sound and soon dominates the track before a nice chunky kick gets the track really moving. Classic electro sounds are there to be discovered as the track evolves with the master stroke being that groovy bassline that seeps right into your soul as it commands authority throughout the sound along with its groovy synth riff partner. Nice vocal samples are the perfect addition here and round off a stunning display of house music production, superb stuff!
