Talinn born dynamic duo Zas & Sanze aka Mindgamers are back with their debut album “Velvet Sky”. Since 2009 these guys have been producing works at a very high standard, three years on that experience and close working relationship has paid off with a quite stunning artist album.
“The Beginning” kicks us off, nice piano led intro with a brilliant voice effect leading up to super charged bass and breakbeat kicks and percs, short sweet and in your face, perfect start.
First released in 2009 the guys’ debut track way back then “Attractions” gets a 2012 rework, keeping the original alive and kicking. Cool steady tech house with nice FX work on the break and throughout, already heavily supported and sure to be on a lot more playlists.
“Crazzy” turns up the heat with an energetic tech workout. Very dynamic sound with a synth and vocal combo being the main focus. Cool drums and percs provide a solid groove with bass keeping the body engaged.
“Once Again” keeps up the bounce with its cool steady groove driven by a thumping kick and sharp hats. A short vocal shot dominates and the piano winds its way in and out morphing with the FX layered upon it. On the break a disco-led string section adds to the huge build up and back into that solid groove, awesome vibe here.
“Copacabana” brings in a Brazilian samba flavour, all the trimmings you’d expect from a vibe like this with the Mindgamers magic touch. Cool rhythmic flowing style that will have any floor ready for action.
Taking on a deeper element with “Music Everyday” now, the duo’s distinctive kicks and percs shine through here with a real low end bassline adding punch, again we see wonderful synth work giving that deep vibe.
The title track “Velvet Sky” is a fine energetic prog tech ride. Rolling bassline with raw synths that transform at every turn, really cool melodies invade the break and a cut up vocal weaves in and out, big sound on this which will be at the fore on a lot of playlists.
“Baltic Breeze” provides a sublime intermission with surreal sweeping pads and a contrasting heavy kick and bass combi, a nice break in a stunning journey.
First released in 2011 with a vast array of remixes, “Focused” is a prog tech masterclass. Brilliant use of vocals are the dominating force here with a super charged synth taking over from the break with superb arrangement on the rhythm section. A cert to be featured by a lot of DJ’s for a second time around.
Next up is “Can You Feel It” which has also seen a well received release. A good old progressive house workout, cool steady rhythms provide a solid groove, chunky heavy bass will pound any floor and some real cool synth work rounds off a very effective track.
July 2012 saw a release for “Chasing The Sun” a track that will be played on the beaches and terraces as it delivers a very cool house groove, awesome piano work backed with tight drums and a feel good factor of 10!
“Hold You” is another track that saw a release at the early part of this year. Again we see the guys apply their unique signature style to progressive house, well crafted beats creating a flowing energetic rhythm with amazingly simple and effective synth work, the superb vocal will infect your mind.
A stunning first album for these very talented individuals.

Bulgarian artist Metodi Hristov is up first on remix duty. Metodi has already seen a few remixes under Bonzai gain rave reviews. Here the cool meter goes way up with a superb big club friendly effort. All the goodness of house with the prog element shining through, super suave steady rhythm filled with tight percussion and a subtle kick. The big focus here is the awesome bassline backed up with a mesmerizing vocal which works an absolute treat. Big floor friendly sound which will gain support all over.
Another talent from Bulgaria is Thomas Genchev with a sublime remix. Thomas has appeared on labels like Soulman Music and Sui Generiz, here we see his debut remix on Bonzai and what a fine example it is. Heading towards the deeper side of prog with a minimal approach, simple yet effective subtle rhythms take hold with a host of added FX beefing up the sound. Get ready for a surreal journey through house that will captivate your mind.
Bulgarian DJ and producer Thomas Genchev makes his full Bonzai Progressive debut with “Groove Romance”. After appearances on Soulman Music and a remix for Mindgamers we see a nice slice of deep progressive house on our main label.
The original is kicked off with sharp hats and a tough kick which soon become blended with a cracking bassline and consistently builds up to the main event at the break. This tune completely opens up then with a wonderful female vocal taking control and then getting right back into the pure deep driving rhythm.
Mindgamers return the favour with their remix for Thomas. The dynamic duo deliver something so pure and simple it’s totally awesome. This remix is a solid four to the floor driving rhythm, a short break brings in the vocal and the groove continues, big floor sound here and will fill the boxes all over.
Henrik Kantola aka Chantola steps up with his awesome talent to deliver an inspiring remix. Quality house vibes from the start lead up to a short break where lush synths and a hypnotic vocal transform this into a cool progressive ride, classy stuff again from Henrik and sure to be a firm favourite.
