Ecco returns to Bonzai Progressive after a short hiatus with the superb Switch featuring three top notch remixes from top quality artists. We last saw Ecco on remix duty for Eric Powa B’s track Sunshine and we are delighted to see him back in action yet again.
Switch intros with a smooth drum arrangements that features muted kicks and a strong metallic feel. The kicks evolve into nice and punchy hits aits as percussions begin to form up flowing rhythms. A deep bubbling bassline shores up the rear and gets the track into full gear. The break offers up some cool synth pads creating a surreal atmospheric vibe which combines beautifully with the deep nature of the track. Nice deep, dark and long progressive for those darker rooms.
Dynamic duo Mindgamers are up first on remix duty with their stunning cut. The guys had recently remixed Matan Caspi’s Just Let Go receiving great support and have also been busy DJing. We are always excited when their work hits the office and we are in for a treat here. Straight from the off we get an upbeat kinda vibe off the chunky kicks and subtle percussions, the multi layered bass also gives the vibe a nice bounce to it. Sharp and rhythmic hats lift the sound up a notch alongside some superb synths and textured licks that give the sound a funky side. A definite must have for any party and not to be missed.
German DJ and producer Manuel Palmitesta debuts on Bonzai Progressive as offers up the next remix. Manuel has seen releases on many labels over the last few years and he always gains lots of support, and we are sure that this effort will turn a few heads. The track intros with a punchy kick and classic percussion set up with an in your face hypnotic siren styled synth note that dominates the sound. A very subtle yet effective bass sits in the rear and binds the track together beautifully. On the break a techy element filters into the sound as the percussions keep the groove flowing before we slam right back into full swing with an air raid siren for good measure. Top notch stuff.
Phat Traktor aka Spanish DJ and producer Jose Vinilo returns after his brilliant debut track Voyage gained much support. Here he takes the remix on a sublime journey into the deeper side of progressive house. The track intros with dark drums and a pulsating bassline as various percussions begin to filter through setting the dark tone of the sound. A tech styled synth swirls in the background as brighter lick comes through. A deep and hypnotic slice that will sit perfectly in those darker sets.
Matan Caspi delivers his stunning ‘Just Let Go’ which is backed up with three superb remixes from Audio Noir, Mindgamers and deepAlexander. Matin’s last outing was at the start of 2014 with the wonderful ‘I Wanna’ which saw a lot of support from all over.
First up we have the Original Mix which intros with super crispy hats that gets right up in your face as a nice chunky kick leads into a deep lush bass that comes through to balance things out beautifully. Cool vocal samples dash in and out of the sound adding a nice flow to the vibe. On the break a smooth synth arrangement takes over adding a hint of melody that gives off a contrasting groove, top notch from Matin yet again.
Tallinn based DJing and production duo Mindgamers are first up on remix duty. The guys have been enjoying a lot of attention for their works as their own productions as well as remixes are being picked up all over the world and featuring heavily in many sets and radioshows. Here the guys do what they do best, rock the joint! Right from the off the grooves are infectious, thumpy kicks and a sharp hi hat sequence are the perfect combination. The vocal samples off the original are used well and that bass just teases and teases. Stabby synths bring in a cool vibe and on the break we see these take full control before slamming right back into the main track to continue on this epic progressive house ride!
Audio Noir is up next and yet again he does not disappoint. His remix, Another Audio Noir Trip, is quite simply stunning. He has a way of taking a track and transforming it into something fresh and different while keeping true to the original. Nice whispered vocal on the intro which leads into a cool kick and a sublime percussion arrangement with some fantastic vocal samples over the top. The groove builds and builds before exploding into an analog fuelled, bass driven monster. Quite an energetic vibe off this as the layers build around the track culminating with a superb vibrant synth. Brilliant stuff out of Australia and not to be missed!
deepAlexander aka Sasa Skrobar rounds up the remixes with his stunning take. Sasa’s last release ‘Midnight Launch’ was well received and is a testament to the skills on offer. Big chunky kicks get us going with expertly tweaked vocal samples and fading synths sitting in the background. A cool rhythmic groove is built with the introduction of some great percussion patterns. The track takes a funky turn as a deep throbbing bass is brought forward together with a catchy, soulful vocal. The track is totally driven by that classy bass which has so much character as it binds the track together beautifully. Top stuff and a track you will want in your collection!
Two guys who hadn’t worked together until 2013 are currently unleashing a fierce partnership with high quality tracks at every turn. Phi Phi and Airwave are back with another stomper entitled ‘The Horn’ and comes with three superb remixes. These guys really need no introduction as they are stalwarts in their field. Both guys are currently gigging hard in both clubs and bigger events while also getting into the studio either together or with others. Very exciting times ahead with this combination!
The Original Mix is a full on progressive stomper that will have any floor rocking. From the get go the track drives hard with a massive kick and solid percussion arrangement. The bassline bubbles up from below and is the powerhouse to the track while a droning synth lurks in the rear waiting to pounce. Brilliantly worked FX add character to this sound and a massive scary movie type riser takes us to the break where a stuttering bass note carries the groove alongside some cool vocals. This takes us slamming back into the main track with gusto and puts this is the must have category, not to be missed!
Tallinn’s own dynamic duo are back on remix duty with their Mindgamers Remix. These guys also need no introduction as they have a raft of top quality tracks and remixes under the Bonzai umbrella. At present they are working on new material as well as more remixes, so definitely worth keeping an eye on. The remix intros with fading pad that rises with intensity to a nice chunky kick and a crispy hat combination with some very cool synth voices also coming through. The fantastic offset bass reverberates through the sound and is joined by a tough synth on the offbeat. In contrast, a wonderful melodic arp weaves through the sound and takes us into the break where a beautiful melodic sequence place with superb pads and strings before slamming us right back into the main groove for the duration. Top stuff yet again from these guys!
Finnish DJ and producer Cid Inc. aka Henri Hurtig is back at Bonzai Progressive after his superb remix on Manu Riga’s ‘Cimmerian’. Henrik runs his own label, Replug and has a raft of releases across many labels. Subtle intro on the remix with a flat kick and smooth rhythmic percussions. A deep bass soon begins to froth as it bubbles up from below and brings with it a driving force with hypnotic tendencies. Nice and solid workout here as the sounds merge beautifully with the addition of quality FX. A tense atmosphere is created mainly form that driving bass as it evolves and transforms itself brilliantly. On the break the bass takes a back seat paving the way for some melodic sequences with a gritty edge. An epic ride for sure and a must in any box!
Yuriy From Russia offers us his remix and this guy is making a lot of waves at the moment. His tracks have featured on top download stores and DJ playlists alike for some time and with more remixes and original material to come it will be well worth keeping an eye on this superb talent from Russia. Big phat kicks provide the intro and are soon joined by sharp hats and some very cool percussive elements. A huge pulsating bass comes out of nowhere will be an absolute floor shaker. Strong and solid rhythms are formed with a tight percussion arrangement and a scary movie type riser takes us through each section. Lloyd regularly DJ’s at various events across Europe and there will be much more from this guy on the production front no doubt.
The Original Mix intros with cool percussive elements and well honed FX, a nice chunky kick and bass combo punches though early on and we settle into a fine journey through the progressive spectrum. Simple melodic sequences have a huge impact on the sound and rising FX bring in each section with anticipation. On the break the subtle melody has a chance to shine before the edgy progressive nature of the track takes over once more, superb stuff.
Tallinn’s finest, Mindgamers , are up first on remix duty and yet again they prove to be masters of their trade with a wonderful slice of progressive house with a techy edge. The track gets right down to business with a chunky kick and in your face percussions. Vocal snippets are a big feature in the sound and the understated bassline sits perfectly in the arrangement. On the break a transformation takes place as sweetly strings and melodic pianos take over, this gives the track a cool dynamic before the relentless groove poke through once more, super stuff from the guys!
Australian based Audio Noir is a regular fixture within the Bonzai Progressive stable, he has racked up a very impressive amount of original releases and a slew of quality remixes. This time around is no exception as the quality continues to pour out of the land down under. The remix, An Audio Noir Trip, is a perfect example of the talent on offer from this guy. The intro has cool thumping kick and is backed with well constructed percussions, these build a steady rhythm as the track builds. A short break brings in a very cool vocal sample with the bassline coming through and engulfing the sound totally. The main break gives us a brilliant guitar riff alongside sweeping pads with a subtle melodic edge before crashing right back to a driving prog monster.
Audio Noir serves up another remix here with his Audio Noir Zen Mix. Quite simply a wonderful blend of melodies gelled together by some well placed percussive instruments and a bass that bellows from the depths. A pure chill fest and a great accompaniment to this release.

Mindgamers are back from their recent stint on Frisky Radio’s world tour when they stopped off in Talinn for the guys to do an exclusive set in which they played this track for the first time. These guys need no introduction really as they are now firmly rooted within the Bonzai sound. Their new track “The Crown” comes backed up with two top notch remixes.
The Original mix gets flowing with a cool percussion led intro that builds the rhythm nicely. A superb deep bassline soon takes over the sound and matches up beautifully with a tight drum arrangement. Vocal snippets give the track a punch while the synths rise up to epic heights. On the break the levels rise yet again with wonderful strings and an awesome female vocal before crashing right back into this solid slice of progressive house, enough to raise the roof at any venue and a must for any set.
Koen Mertens has been very busy of late with a round of brilliant remixes, here he makes no exceptions as he delivers his brand of prog with another great remix. Chunky kicks fade through on the intro as the vocal sits back on top of some tight percussions. The bassline rises up in a stealthy approach and before you know it you are locked into its groove, alongside this a wall of sound is forming with huge synths stacking up on top of each other. The break does a great job maintaining the vibe and the female vocal is the perfect companion. An intense build-up gets us back into full swing, a true prog monster that is not to be missed.
UK based Lloyd Trimmer aka Cordoba is next on the remix. Lloyd has seen releases on House Proud Records and Kushtee Records. As a DJ he has played at prestigious clubs such as London’s Ministry Of Sound, The Egg and Mango, he also co-founded Substance Promotions to progress the sound of House in some of the finest venues in Hampshire and Surrey. The remix takes the prog sound a little deeper with hypnotic rhythms and a wonderful deep bass that transforms as the track drives on. Very cool FX make a big play also and work perfectly with a tight drum and percussion arrangement. Sweeping synths and subtle melodies add texture alongside clever use of the vocal samples, great stuff!
