RECENT POSTS: Luis Bravo
Portuguese DJ and producer Luis Bravo returns to Monog with the superb Switch Dance EP. We last saw Luis back in December 2013 with Yin which went down a storm all over. Since then he has notched up a very impressive release count across many labels including Hi Profile Recordings, Au Records, Dopplegaenger, Minar Records and HiFi Stories. Switch Dance also comes with two fantastic remixes from Dominic Smith and Kruno Kereta.
Up first we have the Original Mix which gets right into a deep rooted groove from the get go. Chunky kicks are joined by a warm pulsating synth alongside cool and crisp hats. Stark, harsh sounds litter the groove and bring a slice of tech into the vibe while some very cool spoken vocals provide a thought invoking narrative. The tracks layers continue to build bringing a real deep groove that will keep floors on the move no doubt.
Irish DJ and producer Dominic Smith steps up for remix duty and delivers a sublime deep house experience. Dublin resident Dominic has been a fan of dance music for a long time, in 2010 he got into House music and spent time dissecting the many sub-genres that exist. The results of this are his unique blend of Deep House and Tech House which has been snapped up by labels including Midnight Express Records, Vision Collective Recordings and Depaart to name just a few. In 2011 he gained attention from Dublin’s House music scene and soon found himself behind the decks at top venues across the city. On the remix the intro boasts a smooth and groovy vibe as well rounded kicks are joined by a surreal pad that rises beautifully into the sound. Cool FX on the vocal dominates a short break before we get into the main sound with sharp hats and a dancey rhythm. Sweeping synth shots litter the sound beautifully as this relentless groover powers on. A definite must have track in your box.
Croatian producer Kruno Kereta returns to Monog on remix duty and is fresh off the back of debut, Disquiet EP. On the intro we get thrust into a monstrous groove as punchy kicks are lined up against a harsh sinister bass. Vocal one shots crop up alongside a building percussion section and cool metallic sounding FX. The bass sits back perfectly and allows the percussive elements to build into a cool flowing rhythm as synth stabs filter through. A merciless trek into the deeper side of House that will not disappoint.

Luis Bravo is the artist behind Yin EP and, once again, what a wunderfull job he made here! Three tracks are making the package: The “Original mix”, the “Original 6am Mix” and the “ELEME3NT Mix”.
“Yin” is the other part of our already released “Yang EP” from Luis, so you will find some similar approach here: An outstanding groove and a chord that goes on and on making the mood. The Original 6am mix is a more “darker” version of the main mix.
At last but not least, we invited our artist ELEM3NT to make his magic with a remix for “Yin” and what an hell of a work he made! A lot of influence of Detroit techno, a very powerfull groove but with the subtile chords, so characteristic from the original mix! Well done ELEME3NT!
Bonzai are proud to welcome Elements Records as part of their ever expanding label family. Portuguese outfit Elements Records will no doubt be another main player in the world of deep, dark, and tribal-esque tech beats. To mark this new venture we have a superb three tracker entitled “Alpha EP” with tracks from three top notch Portuguese producers hailing out of.
First up is Pedro Goya with “How Soon You Forget”. Pedro has been responsible for a slew of stunning works across many labels including Eyepatch Recordings, Bonzai Basiks, Piston Recordings, Bonzai Elemental and Moma. But most notably he has carved a solid niche from within his own label Troia Recordings, which he launched in 2007 and is still going strong today. This track delves straight into the darker side with muted kicks and distant percussions alongside a deep rising pad that gets you hooked from the off. The track continues to build with an expertly crafted myriad of percussive elements that add a strangely tribal feeling, top notch stuff.
Fragoso is up next with the awesome “Profundo”. Lisbon based Fernando Fragoso has been developing his own techno and house styles since 2000. He has been a regular feature on many labels including AU Records, Bonzai Basiks, Mint & Mustard, Howz Choons, Monog Records and Bonzai Progressive. The track intros with a fantastic spoken vocal with whispering tones, in the background an amazingly lush deep synth fades through accompanied with sweeping FX. A nice and solid chunky kick blends in perfectly before more noted synths start to fill the sound. Cool hats and percussions form a steady rhythm as the vocal resonates before breaking down to just the voice and swirly sounds. The vibe kicks back into a full on deep and dark house groove that will be a feature on many playlists for sure, excellent stuff!
Luis Bravo rounds up this stunning EP with “Lotus”. Luis is another top rated Portuguese producer with releases across various labels such as Bonzai Progressive, Bonzai Basiks, Eyepatch Recordings, Nouzone Music, Minar Records and most notably Monog Records. “Lotus” intros with a smooth kick and bass combi while a cool percussion arrangement builds into flowing rhythms. Wonderful synths play out a hypnotic groove alongside a brilliantly tweaked vocal sample. The track boasts an awesome array of blips and blops that adds textures to a tightly arranged composition. Deep and dark and a must for any late night session.

Luis Bravo doesn’t need any presentations! It’s our “boy”, due to his constant great work and dedication, he conquered a well deserved central figure in our label. This time he presents his third EP with us called “Now is too late”, composed by two original tracks (“Now is” and “Too Late”). Both tracks are very well representative of his work: An addictive groove, simple structure, a good amount of creativity and an astonishing atmosphere! Monog Records :: Till Dance Tear Us Apart
“Yang” is the name of our newest EP from our family member Luis Bravo. After the sucess of “Today” EP, Luis is back with two ground breaking original tracks. The Original Mix of “Yang” is a great representation of what he do best: Deep and hypnotic atmosphere, a powerfull groove some small touch of funk here and there and simplicity at his most perfect state! On the other hand we have “Urban Sailor”, a deep tech house track that will delight the most exquisit dancefloors! A Strong groove, delicated rhode chords and a “loopy” vocal that will be around your head for the next few hours. And at last but not least, we are proud to have with us Mike Kings again!
