Beat Maniacs aka Petar Bogojevic and Nikola Radivojevic debut on Bonzai with “Messine” which comes with two top class remixes. Petar attended music school and played guitar while Nikola is influenced by the earlier pioneers of the electronic sound. In 2010 the guys released their first single and have appeared on labels like Balkan Connection, Chibar Records and more.
The Original Mix is a sublime slice of prog, the understated intro bursts into a tripped out ride with hypnotic beats and constant droning synths which is contrasted by some classic strings. The bassline is a hugely powerful part of the track that commands throughout. Wispy vocals are a perfect addition to this top notch groove.
Australia’s finest Audio Noir is first up on the remix with his Rekonstruction. Audio Noir is no stranger to Bonzai as his first few tracks have been very well received indeed. Here he applies his own brand of prog with much more punchy workout. Chunky kicks and rising arps make up the intro before the gritty bass takes over. Very strong percussion leads a steady rhythm and the synth works adds a melodic twist to the sound, great stuff yet again and sure fire hit on many floors.
Kabalo is up next with his remix. Kabalo’s last track “Waiting For You” gained much support and this remix will no doubt follow that up well. Nice melodic intro with the rich vocal sets up the scene beautifully with subtle kicks giving way to the targeted synths and pads, this provides the perfect build up and as the track gets into full swing the kicks get beefed up with the intensity of the pads coming through. A superb almost acidic bassline meanders along creating a very diverse sounding groove, superb stuff!
Kabalo debuts on BP with “Waiting For You”, the track comes backed up with two quality remixes.
The Original Mix is a step into the deeper end of progressive with a brain churning bassline that cuts right into your mind as it pulsates a hypnotic rhythm. Tight drum patterns and percussions provide a flowing rhythm over a slow, drawn out vocal. Sweeping synth pads bring up the rear while a hint of a melody teases from the distance. Huge sound on this with the bass being the main focus.
Australian DJ and producer Audio Noir is first up on the remix with his Rekonstruction. Audio Noir is fresh off the back of his latest effort “Transfagarasan Highway” and he has lots more remixes and his projects lined up which will prove to be an exciting future. The remix takes the original and injects a huge amount of energy, a tough throbbing bass takes over while the synths give only the slightest melody, this contrast keeps the track firmly within the progressive sphere. On the break things take a turn with a soft choir like vocal coming through over that edgy bass and sweet arp before getting right back to a full on prog monster, superb stuff.
Rise And Fall are next on the remix roster, their last outing “Imagination” was well supported all over. The remix intros with classic kick and sub bass combo, the track builds on percussions and a brilliant main bassline. The original vocal is used very well and fits perfectly. In full effect this track rocks, the bassline just rolls along and the synths are at just the right level to keep you wanting more. A tough edged progressive stomper that will pick up a lot of attention.
