Based in Chania, Greece, Ioannis is a well established artist on the progressive and techno scenes under his various guises, with tracks on labels like Baroque, Music Maestro and more, today we are looking at Single Man and his release “The Trap”. Setting off in a subtle kick and synth sequence until the killer bass arrives and blows you away, sweet pads linger in the background menacingly with little melodies coming in and out, an epic performance well placed on the Green Martian label.

Self taught DJ Neel V first got into the UK’s Jungle/Drum n Bass scene, this soon evolved into trance and progressive and he followed DJ’s like Paul Van Dyk and artists like Robert Miles. The urge to produce soon took over and he launched his own label Miramarbeats, focusing on trance and progressive it wasn’t long before he was searching for new talents. The tune intros with swelling pads and lots of FX with an acid line, then the kicks start to hammer and the bass throbs, on the break the pads come forth and a solid groove kicks back in creating a big trance sound that would be at home on any floor.
Returning to Green Martian after his last release “White Krane” is Rishi K with another inside look at his amazing progressive house sounds on his “One Step Ahead EP”.
The title track “One Step Ahead” is a melodically fuelled prog house groover, kicking off in a true house vibe with nice tremeloed sounds the tune takes a turn towards prog with a superb bassline, we are treated to some voice samples from a space mission (moon landing) which works very well with the sounds. Very well constructed solid slice of music.
“Skybound” continues this fine run of quality sounds with another super grooving progressive house slab. Again we are teased with lots of house vibes but with those prog undertones that keep the tune rocking, on the break a sweet piano melody is at the forefront and kicks back with that deep bassline. More samples this time from nature really do give a sense of being in the “sky”.
“The Space Between” goes all out house, cool bouncy feel to the percs and bass with an almost retro sound that will have all of us guessing, vocal samples are used that work so well with the music, dreamy melodies tie up this track nicely and prove that Rishi K. delivers quality everytime.
Delighted to see the very hard working Rishi back with Green Martian.
Another debut release, this time on Green Martian with Mr.Raf aka Rafael Osmo and Hezi Rachmani, and their prog stomper “DNS1″. Rafael and Hezi have been appearing on many quality progressive labels in recent times and now we are delighted they are bringing their sound to Green Martian.
The title track “DNS1″ kicks off with chest thumping kick drums and sets up a cool grooving pace in the sound, building up with lots of different layers, a soft pad and a really nice retro synth sound which settles into a hypnotic driving rhythm, sweet!
“Friday” is a well constructed progressive house sound, starting off with just a kick and an off time bass which soon jumps into a 4/4 beat with a real cool synth sound. Slightly darker edge on this which will definitely suit the later floors.
Tokyo based producer Hisataka Ogura aka 06R delivers another fine example of his self styled genre “Promelodic”.
Fresh from his last outing on Green Martian with “Air” which was chosen by world renowned DJ Paul Oakenfold on his Flouressence Essential Mix in July 2012, we now have a cracking two track release with quality progressive house/trance and beautiful melodic sequences.
“Obsidian Eyes” opens with hats, shakers and a sweet melody which builds into a cool rhythm with a thud on the kicks and great bassline. On the break we are treated to a warm piano melody with surreal pads and arps. An absolute epic ten minute ride in the world of 06R’s promelodic grooves.
“Gaze In Deep” leads more towards a pure progressive trance groove. Tight drums with awesome rising and falling pads and a killer bassline, on the break things quieten down and a sweet melody prevails until the perfect build up kicks the groove straight in again.
Two epic tunes that will intrigue and hook a lot of people.
