London based DJ and producer JR aka Simon Bingham, debuts on Piston with a stunning two tracker “For The OG’s” which comes fitted out with two superb remixes. JR grew up listening to his parents records, mostly reggae and soul, this solidified his Jamaican roots and helped shape his musical tastes. His older brother, the legendary DJ Grooverider, peeked his interest in electronica which led him to find house music as his forte. As a DJ, JR has played at London’s top clubs including Pacha, Brick House, Egg, Hidden and Lokee as well as Ibiza and other international stages.
The Original mix intros with a classic kick and hat combi before sliding into a smooth deep house groove with a brilliant baseline filled with a rich, lush vibe. A nice little vocal sample adds texture alongside some cool keys and great FX which makes this a must have for any house jock.
Barcelona based Fauvrelle takes on remix duties with his Fauvrelle LFO mix. He recently saw his own debut on Piston with “4 Pistons” which gained lots of support from around the world. The mix intros with snappy kicks and crisp hats adding a punchy feel to the sound, the bass goes deep with vocal snippets coming through alongside some superb synth chords. Cool piece of work on the remix here and one that will get lots of attention.
The boss of Piston, Portuguese DJ and producer Rogerio Martins, steps up with his remix. Rogerio and Piston are leading the way when it comes to house music, you just have to look at the back catalogue and the artists that make up the Piston roster to realise the sheer talent and diversity on offer. The mix intros with quirky FX and cool snares accompanied by a sharp clap, chunky kicks fill the sound and the rhythm starts to build beautifully. The baseline gives the track a bouncy feel that will have those asses shakin. On the break expertly crafted keys take the groove to a new level making this a track the dancefloors will love.

Hailing from Portugal and now residing in Barcelona, Carlos “Fauvrelle” marks his Piston debut with a superb four track EP entitled “4 Piston’s”. No stranger to the electronic music scene, Carlos has a host of quality releases to his name on many labels including, Glam Records, Insert Coin, KULT, Nervous Records and lots more. He has graced the decks all over Portugal and around the world, playing in parties such as Zouk in Singapore, Pacha in NYC, Womb in Tokyo, Space in Miami, Rex in Paris and Circus in Montreal. His brilliant style of DJing allows him to fuse the old with the new and on his label In Flagrante Music he breaks down the genre defining barriers in order to avoid the dreaded pigeon-holing phenomenon.
First up we have “LSTU90” which is an awesome classic style house party tune with some deep funky elements. The tune intros with that unique New York house synth organ and progresses well with the drums and crisp percs giving a steady rhythm. Great vocals used here with a few old school samples thrown in that will have any crowd on their feet.
“All Night” gets deeper into the groove with a cool laid back house sound, smooth steady beats with some great synth keys providing a bit of funk and a super bass keeps this groove moving. The tune gets all Barry White with a deep deep vocal popping up throughout and this adds a real cool flavour.
“Blues Train” shows us where Carlos’ style is going, he is able to give out an electro type vibe with all the elements of modern deep house groove. Familiar percs stand out well here but the big hitter on this tune is for sure the synth work, an infectious hook drives on and on with the added vocal snippets coming through, big big sound destined for a load of playlists.
Finally we have “Keep Doing It”, just simply a pure solid, driving deep house groove. Real sharp hats and a nice thump on the kick marry well with very simple yet highly effective keys. What a joy to listen to, this will grab anyone and hold them on the floors against their will!
