Ego Progressus returns with another of his stunningly deep and tough progressive workouts in this two tracker entitled The Bow Tie. We last saw him with The Broken Circle earlier this year and no doubt we’ll be in for another real treat.
First up we have The Bow Tie which sets its dark tones right from the off as deep basses permeate through the speakers with shuddering effect. Snappy kicks lie in cool contrasts with the bass and are joined by subtle percussions to provide a steady rhythm. Lots of colour and textures can be found within the sound as a myriad of expert FX paint this dark progressive picture.
Not For Horses Song intros with a nice punchy kick that is joined by a very cool percussive arrangement to the backdrop of a sinister deep pad. Eerie vocal samples come through early on and give you a sense of what’s to come as the layers build a dark and surreal groove. A wonderfully rich bass gives the track a boost and carries the dark element forward beautifully. Top notch stuff not to be missed.

Ivan Shadrin aka Ego Progressus returns after a short hiatus to Progrez with another stunning deep progressive house workout. The Broken Circle offers up two sublime tracks and shows us that this guy knows how to cut a track.
First up is The Broken Circle which intros with a punchy kick and minimal percussion alongside a surreal sequence that evolves with each section of the track. A growling organic bass rears its head and is the perfect companion for the darkly synth pads that weave in and out of the sound. The break descends into an eerie atmosphere filled with crazy FX and a brilliant spoken word sample before the track slams back in your face and continues on its journey to the depths.
O.B. is up next and gets moving with a nice clipped kick and clap combo alongside some brilliant metallic synths. In the background and very contrasting arp eases its way into the sound as the percussions begin to build and the synths intensify. Dark and sinister vocal samples lurk below as the bass bubbles all around. The break reveals a beautiful pad sequence as those metallic sounds are forced back. The vocal on the break is surreal as it’s covered in effects that enhance it beautifully. Deep, dark stuff that’s sure to be a hit with many!

Ivan Shadrin aka Ego Progressus is back with this two tracker entitled ‘The Ink Of Night’. His last outing on Progrez ‘Dark Story’ was well received which is a tip of the hat to this fine producer.
First up is the title track ‘The Ink Of Night’, the intro is a simple punchy kick and crispy hat combination with a warm pad soon following. Cool FX start to come through before a grungy type synth leads us into the darker recesses of progressive house. A short break takes us into this realm further as the synths intensify and the percussions escalate. The bassline comes through as a construction of many sounds which has a huge impact overall giving an organic flavour to the vibe. Intense and amazing.
‘White Church’ sets off with a multitude of percs and FX over a cool kick, the percussions continue to build as a dark bass pokes through. The track takes on a very percussion focused drive that produces flowing rhythms with very cool sequences. Expertly crafted track indeed which ebbs closer to techno with a progressive edge.
Kiev based Ivan Shadrin aka Ego Progressus returns to Progrez with another of his darkly sinister progressive monsters entitled “Dark Story EP”.
Taking us right into the murky depths of progressive vibes we have “Dark Boom”. The track intros with a heavy kick and eerie sounding FX and vocal. The bass sits back waiting to pounce as a myriad of percussive and synth effects haunt the groove. On the break the tension builds with a macabre pad and drone combination which is coupled with that mysterious vocal. Perfect choice for those very late night parties and Halloween events!
“Story Galaxy” is up next with its classic kick and hat intro which leads into some really cool FX. The bassline rises up through different layers giving it a very diverse texture. The percussions build the rhythms smoothly and soon we get locked in to a dark hypnotic groove with some cool added vocals from a great mind of our time. Another stomper from this superb talent.
Based in Kiev, Ukraine, Ivan Shadrin aka Ego Progressus debuts on Progrez with this stunning dark themed progressive monster. Ivan is very much an advocate of the darker side of prog and this come through in his live sets. He has developed an outstanding musical taste and it is this that inspires him to form out his dark and sometimes tribal vibes.
Kicking off we have the short “Hypno Intro”, straight away you feel the dark elements within Ivan’s sound, deep sinister vocals and haunting pads combine well to create an intensely charged atmosphere, nice start!
The title track “Hypnosphere” intros with a good old solid kick and bass combi with crispy clear percussions showing up. This track then begins a journey that builds layer upon layer, on this journey the tension rises as the dark elements begin to creep through. On the break the true dark nature of this tune is exposed and we get a climax of pure, raw progressive house with a classic tribal undertone. Very well crafted track and a must for those darker sets.
“Mare Orientale” takes on a much more industrial theme with a lot of metallic sounds yet retaining that prog house vibe. We still get the dark grooves and eerie sounds, the beauty of this track is the multitude of sounds that do a great job of keeping you hooked, if only to hear what other sounds come through. A top notch track indeed and one you will listen to over and over.
