Piston Recordings is back on plastic with its third vinyl outing. “Ghetto Tales EP” delivers four superb deep house cuts from top quality artists including label boss Rogerio Martins, JR From Dallas, Dimitry Liss and J.Cub.
First up is Piston head honcho Rogerio with his wonderfully deep “We Need To”. This track gets right down to business with a super tight arrangement filled with chunky kicks and crispy hats. It’s hard to sit still as the track builds with suave deep house chords, cool vocal samples and later on sweeping pads that binds the track up brilliantly.
J.Cub aka UK based DJ and producer Jacob Kelly debuts on Piston with the deeply delightful “Don’t Stop”. The track has a very distinct deep flavour form the off, cool snares are accompanied with equally cool vocal samples and a throbbing bassline that will have any floor shuddering. A strong solid groover with a gritty edge, top stuff.
The very popular Dimitry Liss is up next with his multi faceted track “Pimptastic Waterloo”. Dimitry has a knack for combing raw, urban vibes and deep house grooves, which he does brilliantly. Cool and sophisticated house chords are married with a very street fuelled beat with a host of classic vocal samples thrown in, superb!
JR From Dallas aka Jerome Asselin completes this package with the energetic “Down Society”. Deep house vibes are evident but with an injection of pure energy which gives it a unique flavour. Lots going on here with a tight arrangement tying things up beautifully. The bassline pounds the senses and distant vocal sounds add texture to the vibe, top notch!
Dimitry Liss is now a very regular and popular fixture at Piston. Here he shows off his latest works via a superb four tracker entitled “Electric Boogaloo Street Tapes” complete with awesome track titles!
First up we have deep organic vibes with “Pimptastic Waterloo” which intros with a cool filtered percussion and count in before getting into a classic electro type arrangement. This track oozes street and is backed up with an array of classic vocal samples and some classy deep house keys, absolutely pimptastic indeed!
“Electromagnetic Cheerleader” sends out a powerful deep groove with a superb bassline over a true house styled drum arrangement. Warm, lush keys are a big focus here but the vocal work is outstanding as it brings the vibe to life and forces you to move, top stuff and a track that will see a lot of attention for sure.
“Chocolate Dealer” raises the bar and the tempo with a much more upbeat and club fuelled vibe. Cool, crisp hats and real thumpy kick build up a steady rhythm. The bassline thunders in and brings with it a cool funky undertone, the vocals and FX add a nice flavour rounding up a stunning slice of house music. One to watch!
“Fluffernutter Buttercup” takes us deeper into the vibe with a strong and solid deep house groove. Real nice rolling bassline with accompanying drums and percs keep the rhythm flowing. Dimitry’s talents in vocal cutting, sampling and arranging really shine through here, simply stunning!
Dimitry gets his shuffle on once again with his next three track release “The What If Device”. His last few releases came out of the home of deep house, Piston Recordings, today he returns to Eyepatch with more of his quality deep vibes.
First up is the title track “The What If Device”, the intro has a tight kick and crisp modulated hats with a classic vocal sample making an appearance. The chunky bassline comes through and deep house chords add texture with lots of vocal samples adding flavour. Another fine example of deepness that will fill a lot of boxes.
“Need Ya Babe” kicks off with a heavy bass drum and filtered synths meandering through the arrangement. Super sharp percussions are a cool contrast here with a great vocal throughout taking the tune up a notch. The track breaks down midway with that vocal standing out beautifully alongside the chords. Sublime stuff yet again from Dimitry.
“With Out You” showcases Dimitry’s talents on arrangement, the kicks and percussions give off a bouncy vibe with the hats being prominent. Nice high pitched strings and the blippy bassline work well together. A superb vocal dominates the break as a phased type synth brings up the rear. Top stuff for the deep house floors.

Portuguese deep vibes guru Jose Reis aka Accatone returns to Eyepatch with a fine slice of house goodness all wrapped up with some lush vocals and groovy keys. “You Know I Love Her” comes with a top class remix from none other than Dimitry Liss.
The original mix is one of those moments where you cannot help yourself but move to the groove, the rhythms are super smooth with cool, crisp hats and claps backed up with a nice subtle kick. Wonderful keys flow all over this track with an added measure of funk thrown in, but the big attraction is sure to be the vocals, real smooth with an almost jazz feeling, top stuff.
At the remix controls is a very busy man indeed, with productions and remixes coming thick and fast Dimitry Liss adds his magic touch to this track with his She Loves You Too Remix. Straight away we are drowning in deep house flavours with a brilliant kick and percussion arrangement, this fits perfectly with a stomping bassline. The great thing about this remix is it’s contrast to the original, while we have a male vocal on the original telling us how he loves someone, we have a female vocal here telling us how she loves him back, great concept and one that will for sure be a hit with many jocks and clubbers alike.
Purveyor of the finest deep house grooves Dimitry Liss delivers yet another slice of goodness for our pleasure with a little help from the awesome vocals of Kevin Bassett on “Nothing In Particular”. This track also comes backed up with a superb remix!
The original mix kicks off in true Dimitry style with a very unique shuffle style goin on. We get down to business soon after with a sublime synth chord that just oozes deep house. Cool strong and steady groove with a very catchy bassline and rhythmic percussions. The shining star here of course is the outstanding vocals of Kevin Barrett, soulful, sultry, sensual and funky! The lyrics are an absolute joy to listen to and they tell a cool interesting story, a must have in any club playlist.
Czech DJ and producer Michal Schwa and Australian DJ and producer Nick West make up the talented duo of Shades Of Gray. This duo have a very impressive list of releases and remixes and have had their own tracks remixed by the cream of the crop in house music. Here the guys have created a simply stunning remix, they have chopped the vocal beautifully and the arrangement allows it to stand out well. The track takes on a much more deep tech approach with the deep bassline contrasting well with a real cool house chord and some chunky often grungy synths. A wonderful array of FX adds texture with an acid blip or two filtering through, awesome stuff!

First up we journey into the sounds of “Backstage Queen” from Dimitry Liss & Nasrawi, both these guys have appeared on this series before and we just had to get them back again. This track is a deep house groove that grabs you and holds you in its grip for the duration. Sublime deep bass and a well crafted arrangement are held together with a quite brilliant vocal sequence throughout the track.
Daniele Kama’s remix of Wonji’s “Convince Me” is up next with a more tribal feel, lots of bongos doing the rounds and the vocal takes control when in effect. A deep bassline commands throughout and on the break some classic samples are evident, perfect fodder for vinyl and already a firm favourite on the circuit.
The awesome talents of Dimitry Liss gives us his Re-Rub of Project KF’s “Priority Of Night”, and taking things to a deeper level. Cool sharp hats accompanied with a tight kick set up a solid groove. The sounds are arranged brilliantly with a few added vocal samples thrown in, monster tune for any floor.
Crocy’s “Bouquet” carves out a cool groove with a laidback approach to deep tech house. Subtle intro with percussions building the rhythm and the bass shining through for an awesome ride.
