Musical genius Airwave is on point as usual with our next Bonzai Progressive release – The Unfinished. Two beautifully crafted driving trance gems full of energy, soaring synths and pumping beats. His last outing here was his superb breaks re-work of the classic Blue Alphabet – Cybertrance, as part of our 25 years celebration which this guy has been a huge part of. With a career spanning over 20 years, Airwave remains consistent in the quality department with a seemingly never-ending creative streak. For the last number of years he’s been on something of a world tour having taken to the decks at various locations on almost all the continents bar the Antarctic (although if there is ever a club or festival, he’ll be at it). You can catch him in action at several upcoming gigs including Legacy Festival and the much anticipated 25 Years Bonzai party in November this year.
Eindhoven based Alexis Tyrel debuts on Bonzai Progressive with the superb Rebecca Loos which comes backed up with a quality remix from Gui Boratto. Alexis has been around under various names for more than two decades. At the age of 10 he got infected with the hardcore virus and has been present in the underground scene ever since as clubber, promoter, DJ and producer, always keeping a low profile and working with a diverse selection of people. His first releases were played by artists like Robert Hood, Ben Klock and Steve Rachmad, resulting in gigs at Ostgut, Berghain, Tresor and Awakenings and residencies at Extrema and One Madrid. When also outside labels like Kanzleramt, Sino and Nervous signed his music, his underground status was totally confirmed. Now, after a short hiatus, he returns to unleash his creative sounds once again.
Piston firm favourite Marco Madia returns with his eighth production for us in the form of the fantastic Lemus EP. One thing you will notice about all of his productions is the attention to the detail, ensuring a quality sound with every release. Marco has been in and around the underground scene for a number of years. In 2006 he moved to Berlin where he got a degree in audio engineering and soon started work as a sound designer. He also produces under the pseudonym Flip Morton and his experience has led to working on film soundtracks and exhibitions. His last outing – Toucan EP – proved popular and no doubt we’ll see more of the same here.
Veteran DJ and producer Tatsu aka Isaac Indart teams up with deep house guru Gaol and the hugely talented Portuguese DJ and producer Miss Dee for their debut slice – Brighter Days EP – on Piston Recordings. A master of good taste and a hunger for good grooves, Tatsu is currently the resident DJ at Garito Cafe which he has held for more than 10 years, he also plays at Puro Hotel & Puro Beach in Mallorca as well as several gigs around the world. Gaol represents an unmistakeable deep house style with minimalistic and electronic traits. He is highly influenced by the 90’s and to date he has released a plethora of cuts spanning several years. Miss Dee aka Dee Fonte is a music lover at heart, every set she plays is done so with emotion which emanates to the crowd. She started off in Hip Hop but soon found House music and this transition has made her a very flexible artist with a diverse musical mindset. A talented trio with a unique sound, we’re delighted to have them on board.
Gai Barone, a name synonymous with quality music returns to Bonzai Progressive with the fantastic There’s A Lady which comes backed up with a remix from Stan Kolev. His last outing for us came in March 2017 as he helped celebrate 25 years of Bonzai with his superb remix of Push – Universal Nation which became a top pick in many sets and gained numerous top spots on several download portals. Over the last number of years Gai has consistently churned out top quality cuts on various labels. He is a firm favourite on Bonzai Progressive as his brand of deep, flowing progressive house sits comfortably on the legendary label. His radioshow Patterns is listened to religiously by a worldwide fan base and he is held in very high regard by his peers, with many citing him as an inspiration to produce their own music. Great to have him back for more.
Russian based producer Dofamine returns to Bonzai Progressive with the superb Star Light. Last time out we got some real nice progressive vibes on For My Love which grabbed a lot of attention. Dofamine never fails to impress and releases on the likes of Suffused, ICONYC and Stripped Recordings as well as the mighty Bonzai have secured his place at the top of the progressive pile. Always a pleasure to hear new material from Dofamine and no doubt there’ll be much more to come.
Le Mills debuts on Piston Recordings with the sublime two tracker entitled AM EP. First up we have the wonderful house grooves of AM which intros with a bright, crispy hi hat combo before being joined by a solid kick drum. The track breaks to reveal a cool vocal which gives the sound a superb club vibe. A seriously deep bassline weaves into the track taking the groove to a deeper level. Various synths of the filtered and arpeggio variety come through to give that true house feeling as the vocal continues to pelt. Very nice indeed and not to be missed.
Ilario Laggetta returns to Piston Recordings as a solo artist with his 088 EP. His debut for us came back in the Summer of 2015 alongside studio partner Alessio Rizzo with the superb Breakfast In Lebanon. Ilario found music early in his life and in 1988 he stepped into the DJ world and began a magical journey that would take him through various clubs and top spot at various DJ competitions. His sets deliver a cool blend of rhythmic tech house with melodic touches while his music carries its own unique characteristic. Great to see him at Piston once more.

This one is a definite must.
As part of our 25 Year celebrations we’ve entrusted one of our biggest tracks for the remix treatment to the capable hands of Airwave, and he definitely hits the spot with this one. Blue Alphabet’s Cybertrance is most definitely a classic that is worthy of this remix. First appearing in 1994 the Blue Alphabet collective was made up of like-minded artists Christophe Vervroegen, David Brants, Gregory Dewindt and Peter Schiettekatte. The timing of the release of Cybertrance couldn’t have been more fitting as energetic and hypnotic harder edged trance was about to peak. Numerous remixes and re-issues followed down the years which is a testament to its legendary status. The group went on to release several other successful tracks that delivered the Bonzai sound to the masses. Airwave relished the opportunity to get his hands on this one, and he just knew it required his signature breaks vibe which works so well in the sound. A master of his trade, Airwave is revered across the World for his meticulous track building and vision for his sound. He’s dished out hundreds of original releases and contributed to an equal amount of remixes over the years which has gained him an army of dedicated fans. Currently (2017) he’s practically touring the World with gigs in Canada, USA, UK, Belgium, Spain, The Netherlands and beyond. On top of all this he still finds the time to give us beautiful music such as his latest offering Amber Sky and through his LCD Sessions. A special remix from a special talent, enjoy.
Based in Velenje, Slovenia, Brlee debuts on Bonzai Progressive with the fantastic This Is The Place which comes backed up with two superb remixes from Manu Riga and Crocy. Brlee’s DJ career began in 2002 and since then he has played at many clubs and events including Bora Bora in Ibiza, Space, Ibiza – alongside Carl Cox and Richie Hawtin at This Is Revolution – and has held residencies at Casablanca and Escape in Slovenia. In 2016 he founded Overload Records bringing together a collection of like-minded artists and spreading their sound far and wide. With several releases on various labels, Brlee’s first solo effort on Overload came out in late 2016 and no doubt we haven’t seen the last of this guy.
Cyprus based music duo Paul Angelo and Don Argento return to Bonzai Progressive with the brilliant Voyager EP which comes fresh off the back of their debut Ipanema EP back in February 2017. They started writing and playing electronic music as a duo back in 2013 and since then they performed at top electronic music venues in Cyprus and managed to reach the Beatport top 100 with their debut EP, Bromelain. Their music blends elements of Progressive House, Trance and Techno. They have seen support from big electronic artists such as Tim Penner, Capa, Robert R. Hardy, Pete K, Dmitry Molosh, Simos Tagias, Chris Zag, Haris C, Paul Anthonee and many more. Great to this talented team back for more.
Prolific house music aficionado Rick Wade returns to Piston Recordings with his fourth slice of house music goodness for our listening pleasure. Detroit based Rick is highly revered in the industry for his dedication to the true purposes of house. Also known as Big Daddy Rick and Dr. Low-Tech, he has literally released hundreds of tracks throughout his career on almost 50 different labels since the mid 1990’s. He is also owner of Harmonie Park Records which specialises in deep house and has been running this label since 1993. Born just outside Chicago’s South Side he started spinning in the mid 80’s in the same club where Jeff Mills was cutting his teeth. From there he went on to run his own show on WCBN and gained a name for himself on the circuit to this day. His last outing here – Daedalus – was very well received as expected and we’ve no doubt this one will hit the floors in time for the Summer months.
Narel returns to Green Martian after a bit of a hiatus with the superb album Losing Adequacy. We last saw this hugely talented artist with The View At 2 AU back in 2014. But, since then he has shown up on remix duties for Alfonso Muchacho’s Darkosaur on Bonzai & Friends 500. Melbourne based Narel aka Nick Simmons became fascinated by electronic music after hearing Jean Michel Jarre’s Oxygene aged 5. At 15 he began experimenting with+samplers and sequencers and in time+added synthesizers to his setup. What was a hobby became a bit more serious in 2010 when his first tracks were released on the Bonzai Progressive imprint Fourty 5. After over 30 releases+across multiple labels his first album is finished and more original tracks are remixes are always in production. The Narel sound is rooted in oldskool progressive, progressive house, ambient and downtempo.
Iga Dep returns to Bonzai Progressive with the fantastic two tracker Fat Analog which comes with remixes from two hugely talented artists, Stan Kolev on Fat Analog and Van Czar on Arctic Human, as well as original mixes for both tracks. Iga Dep is fresh off the back of his debut for BP – Indigo – which proved popular among many having charted very well indeed and getting a run out from many jocks. No doubt this one will follow suit, we just love it here in the office.
