Portuguese deep vibes guru Jose Reis aka Accatone joins forces with Italian DJ and producer Giuseppe D’Alessandro aka Kisk on Piston’s first release of 2014, ‘Back In Time’. Jose remains busy as ever with remix duties and original works, his latest release came via Hudd Traxx, “A Reason Not To Try” with a awesome Matthew Herbert remix . Guiseppe is making his Piston debut while he runs his own label Apparel Music which is based in the UK. He has seen a very impressive release list across many labels and his style varies with lots of diversity.
Accatone’s mix of ‘Back In Time’ delivers a solid deep house groove with cool chords and a sublime grooving bassline. The intro boasts a nice warm kick with a raspy vocal which leads into a flowing rhythm as the subtle percussions take hold. The bassline and the vocals are the main focus as the track delves deeper in the house sound. An excellent cut that will no doubt grace many a set!.
Kisk’s mix dishes out a deeper house cut with a superbly subtle intro of just low end kicks and an earthy type pad. This leads to a short break where percussions come into play on top of a cool female vocal. The track soon gets going in full on house mode as a groovy bassline takes charge. As the main break approaches the percussions ramp up a notch weaving smooth rhythms while that bass does its thing, stunning slice of deep house goodness!

Shimmer is back after his outing with LoQuai and their “Flying Fortress” track, a track that gained a lot of attention on major download portals with support from around the world. Here we see a monster release “Give Me” with a host of top quality remixes from some great producers.
The original mix is smooth ride through progressive house creating a relaxed atmosphere. Steady rhythms from the drums and percs with some real nice FX work. Bright melodic short synths build the mood with a wonderful chunky bassline underneath. Very hypnotic groove that locks you in for the duration.
First up on the remix is Chantola with his Give Me Techno Remix. Henrik transforms this tune beautifully with some quality techno elements, particularly in the kicks. Grungy acid blips formulate a great sound which becomes much more prominent on the break. Very well worked mix with huge appeal for many jocks.
Mylan takes us on one of his tech tours with his remix. Classic intro with kicks, hats and percussions building layer by layer. Groovy bassline adds a little bounce here and the FX work fits well. This track is a solid builder with teasing synths coming through on the break, top stuff.
Accatone takes things deeper with his Black Keys Remix. Staying true to the bassline as it bounces along we are treated to a masterclass indeed. Minimal percussions with a crisp hat and clap combi. The big focus of course are those keys, a wonderful display of deep house play that will stand up well in those late night rooms.
Concealed Truth return to BP with Cold Sun Ray Remix. Powerful progressive house at its finest with brilliantly subtle synth melodies and great FX. Nice and steady rhythm with another superb bassline will keep the bootys shakin to this. On the break the melodies are ramped up a notch and the vocal sample is the perfect addition along with the pads, very nice indeed.
Portuguese deep vibes guru Jose Reis aka Accatone returns to Eyepatch with a fine slice of house goodness all wrapped up with some lush vocals and groovy keys. “You Know I Love Her” comes with a top class remix from none other than Dimitry Liss.
The original mix is one of those moments where you cannot help yourself but move to the groove, the rhythms are super smooth with cool, crisp hats and claps backed up with a nice subtle kick. Wonderful keys flow all over this track with an added measure of funk thrown in, but the big attraction is sure to be the vocals, real smooth with an almost jazz feeling, top stuff.
At the remix controls is a very busy man indeed, with productions and remixes coming thick and fast Dimitry Liss adds his magic touch to this track with his She Loves You Too Remix. Straight away we are drowning in deep house flavours with a brilliant kick and percussion arrangement, this fits perfectly with a stomping bassline. The great thing about this remix is it’s contrast to the original, while we have a male vocal on the original telling us how he loves someone, we have a female vocal here telling us how she loves him back, great concept and one that will for sure be a hit with many jocks and clubbers alike.

Sixth installment in the My House Is Your House series, this time with original tracks and remixes by Matan Caspi, Rogerio Martins, Piek, Efron, Accatone, Joal, Luis Bravo, GarcyNoise, Electric Bastards, Dimitry Liss, Daniele Kama, Ecco, Wonji, Kike Mayor, Charles Ramirez, Chanelle Pearl, Oraa, Brett Lawrence, Rob McCarthy and Crocy.
Fresh from the superb “From My Soul EP” Wonji returns with another huge soul funkin groover with a few awesome remixes.
The original mix of “Convince Me” is an amazing trek into the world of house with hints of tech and funk. Well structured sounds from the percs to the kicks and the brilliant guitars to a spoken vocal that takes control of the waves. Top class stuff that is sure to be a hit with its upbeat vibe.
Portugal’s own Accatone is first up with his Back In The Day Remix. Accatones unique style shines through bringing a deeper slide to the original. Tight arrangement on the percs and kicks with wonderful organs and synth stabs. There is a retro element here that comes to the fore with a brilliant trumpet riff, class!
Daniele Kama is up next with a more tribal feel, lots of bongos doing the rounds and the vocal takes control when in effect. A deep bassline commands throughout and on the break some classic samples are evident.
Popular remixer Jimmy Galle provides the final remix here and a stellar job it is. Straight to the floor intro with a huge rising effect kick us into a bouncing bassline, a sinister vocal comes through now and again and this gives a darker edge. On the break a melancholic melody appears and that massive riser comes in, kicking back in to a steady groove with some surreal sounds bringing this tune from the depths to a much more lighter feel, top stuff here.
Piston Recordings has come a long way and gained the support of top jocks all over the world since its creation in 2007. Now in its fifth year, and with an ever increasing artist roster, the quality continues to flow in style. You can expect the very best on this compilation from the deep tech fuelled grooves of Valeria Croft’s “Hippy”, sublime blissed out beats from Vasco with “It’s never Too Late” and the solid deep house rhythm on Accatone’s “Future Us”. The future for Piston is bright with many more projects in the works and with previous releases on vinyl being well received this can only mean more to come.
