Stereo For Two aka Tim Verhees and Joris Bylemans debut on Green Martian with the stunning ‘Shadow Science EP’ which also comes backed up with three brilliant remixes. Tim and Joris are very well established artists and musicians. They like to blend many genres and are very much into jazz and classical and tend to bring these styles into the modern recording arena. Between them they guys have released multiple tracks across many labels and continue to deliver the goods whatever they turn their hand to.

The Original Mix of ‘Shadow Science’ intros with a classic clipped kick and hat combo with much more percussions soon following suit. A rippling synth sound forms up as the very subtle yet super effective bassline does a wonderful job on the lower end. The break brings with it a very cool vocal sample and some stunning FX work. As the track progresses a hypnotic groove sets in and locks you on for the duration, simply amazing stuff.

Leach is first up on the remix. This artist has seen a massive amount of releases over the years on labels like Neglected Grooves, PurpleCat Digital, Basic Grooves and Mystique Music to name just a few. On the intro a short kick and hat combo leads up to the main groove, here the remix does much justice to the original as hypnotic tones settle in with the bassline and cascading synths take hold. Very good use of the vocal samples which really add to the contemplative mood set from within the sound.

Next up on the remix is Belgian artist Rone White. Rone has seen releases on Neglected Grooves, Melodic Records and Basic Groove. Here he totally transforms the track with a much more pronounced bassline and additional melodies that really beef up the sound beautifully. Nice and tight drum arrangement sit well over the beefed up bass and the melodies are a very cool adaptation on the original. On the break a wall of sound blasts forth as the synths do their thing before slamming right back into the relentless progressive groove, superb stuff.

Dutch DJ, producer and mastering engineer Marc Pollen is our next remix artist, and he puts on quite a show. Marc is another artist from within the work horse community who churns out the qaulity at every turn. He has had releases on the likes of Balkan Connection, Basic Groove, Baroque, Indigo Records and Bos Tech Limited to name just a few. Here he adds his brand of quality to the mix with a top drawer offering. The intro goes straight into a gritty kick and bass workout with soft open hats waiting in the wings. Marc has made the vocal much more legible which makes it stand out even more and adds a deeper texture to the sound. The bassline seems merciless until we get a note change the just sets the track on fire with the help of quality synth work. A definite must for any prog set and sure to get the floors moving!
