The Crown

Bonzai Progressive BP3292013 30 December, 2013

Mindgamers are back from their recent stint on Frisky Radio’s world tour when they stopped off in Talinn for the guys to do an exclusive set in which they played this track for the first time. These guys need no introduction really as they are now firmly rooted within the Bonzai sound. Their new track “The Crown” comes backed up with two top notch remixes.

The Original mix gets flowing with a cool percussion led intro that builds the rhythm nicely. A superb deep bassline soon takes over the sound and matches up beautifully with a tight drum arrangement. Vocal snippets give the track a punch while the synths rise up to epic heights. On the break the levels rise yet again with wonderful strings and an awesome female vocal before crashing right back into this solid slice of progressive house, enough to raise the roof at any venue and a must for any set.

Koen Mertens has been very busy of late with a round of brilliant remixes, here he makes no exceptions as he delivers his brand of prog with another great remix. Chunky kicks fade through on the intro as the vocal sits back on top of some tight percussions. The bassline rises up in a stealthy approach and before you know it you are locked into its groove, alongside this a wall of sound is forming with huge synths stacking up on top of each other. The break does a great job maintaining the vibe and the female vocal is the perfect companion. An intense build-up gets us back into full swing, a true prog monster that is not to be missed.

UK based Lloyd Trimmer aka Cordoba is next on the remix. Lloyd has seen releases on House Proud Records and Kushtee Records. As a DJ he has played at prestigious clubs such as London’s Ministry Of Sound, The Egg and Mango, he also co-founded Substance Promotions to progress the sound of House in some of the finest venues in Hampshire and Surrey. The remix takes the prog sound a little deeper with hypnotic rhythms and a wonderful deep bass that transforms as the track drives on. Very cool FX make a big play also and work perfectly with a tight drum and percussion arrangement. Sweeping synths and subtle melodies add texture alongside clever use of the vocal samples, great stuff!
