Rave Nights EP

Monog Records MNG056 30 January, 2017

Berlin based DJ and producer Juliane Wolf debuts on Monog with the sublime Rave Nights EP. This one marks our first release for 2017 and comes after a short hiatus when we done a bit of label restructuring. This release also sets the tone for what’s promising to be another superb year just like 2016. Juliane Wolf got into music through attending a DJ workshop at Club Kasablanca and it was here that she caught the vinyl bug. She explored the club scene in the following years and found herself playing at top venues before she entered into the world of music production. Her first cuts were a remix for Robert Babicz on his label Babiczstyle and original releases on Shaker Plates and Norobot Music. After spending time in Kiel and Cologne Juliane arrived in Berlin where she works on new releases as well as a live set where she combines analogue and digital elements. In her monthly radio show on Louder.FM she presents new releases and artists and focuses on her passion for the acid sound. We’re delighted to have this super talented artist on board and we hope to see more soon. Rave Nights EP comes with the Original Mix, a top notch remix from Christian Vance and the track Dark Days.

Dark Days intros with a nice punchy kick drum and crispy hi hat combi. A deep rumbling bass line bubbles up from the depths as a stuttering acid laced riff fades in. Beautifully crafted pads litter the background delivering sweet melodics that contrast with the tougher tech house fuelled sounds. The break reveals more of these subtle melodies before we get slammed back into full on mode for the duration. A definite must have track in your arsenal.

Christian Vance debuts on Monog Records with his fantastic Flashback Remix of Rave Nights. Christian is a power house on the Berlin club scene, his own fusion of House and Techno music is informed and influenced by his classically trained musical background which works perfectly with his electronic influences. He has played in various cities, countries, clubs and festivals in recent times, most notable Stattbad, Tresor and About Blank in Berlin, Club Kyo in Singapore and Berns 2.35:1 in Stockholm to name a few. Here on the remix we get taken deep into the groove with a wonderfully arranged slice full of lush tones and a sublime acid style lead. Tight drums lead the way as those acid lines converge into a mesmeric groove. Bright piano hits contrast beautifully creating some very nice textures. Top notch stuff that is not to be missed.

The Original Mix of Rave Nights is a superb slice of tech goodness that will most definitely keep the floors alight. Pounding kick drums are at the forefront as bubbling acid lines fades in alongside cool crispy hi hats and shuffling percussions. On the low end a solid, chugging bass line erupts as the groove intensifies. The track takes on a surreal vibe with help from some very cool cosmic style synths and keys making this a track that will not disappoint.
