Never Ending

Piston Recordings PR2014104 31 March, 2014

Paul debuts on Piston with the superb ‘Never Ending’ and is backed up with two fantastic remixes. Paul got into electronic music early in his life but didn’t get the behind the decks until he was about 21 years old. Soon after he decided to get into producing with the results seeing releases on labels like Dash Deep Records, Deepmentality Records and Endemic Digital to name just a few.

The Original Mix is silky smooth deep fuelled track that combines many different elements beautifully. From the steady flowing rhythms to the amazing vocal. The big feature is for sure that vocal which just captivates as it narrates its story, the deep and warm bass washes over the track effortlessly as arps weave out cool patterns. Deep house chords also play a big role and give great depth to the sound creating a stunning groove which will be a joy to listen to.

London based DJ and producer JR aka Simon Bingham returns to Piston after his debut with ‘For The O.G’s’ which performed very well getting much support. Here he pulls out all the stops to deliver a fine slice of house music. Classic kick and hat intro sets the pace along with crispy claps and a big brass stab. Smooth chords ease into the sound and take us to the vocal which is just stunning. Nice little melodic shots peek through in the form high pitched notes and lead us into a silky bass filled with warmth and depth. The bass intensifies and transforms with a much more gritty vibe coming through. On the break that gritty bass continues as a simply awesome synth riff comes into play and takes right back into this floor shaking groove, brilliant stuff.

Well respected Portuguese DJ & Producer Joal is up next with his remix. Joal has been responsible for some top quality music over the years and while this is his first outing on Piston he has seen many releases on labels like Eyepatch Recordings, Howz Choonz, Bonzai Progressive and Bonzai Basiks to name just a short few.

His main outlet is his own Monog Records which he oversees as A&R, bringing in new talent and setting high standards. He also performs outstanding live shows where he showcases his skills running live studio equipment and instruments. Here he adds his superbly unique twist on the original with a fine example of his meandering style. The track intros with a fantastic punchy kick and closed hat with percussive elements building up through the sound as a hypnotic sound effect loiters in the back. The sound effects are ever evolving and add a very cool texture to the grooves. The vocal manipulation is awesome and leads us into a very soft acid type sequence that stays the course.

A wonderful slice that will no doubt draw lots of attention
