Idiots – Remixed

Sounds R Us Recordings SRUR051 19 January, 2015

Our next SRUR release is a remix package with something for everyone. No less than six top remixers have been drafted to unleash their skills on Oz Romita’s Idiots. Idiots first saw the light of day way back in February 2012, it was also the very first release on Oz’s brand new Sounds R Us Recordings, a label that has grown into a very recognisable brand with a distinctive music output which is supported throughout the world. SRUR boss Oz continues to be at the forefront when it comes to quality, his staggering back catalogue is testament to this as well as the huge support from DJ’s, producers and fans alike. Lots more is planned for 2015 so keep your eyes and ears peeled.

First up on remix duty is Ozan Kanik who is fresh off the back of his Adults Only which saw great support since its December 2014 release. From the off we are thrust into an energetic Techno monster with solid beats and a fantastic rolling bassline. Crispy open hats give cool contrasts between the deeper bass elements and provide for a steady rhythmic vibe. Cool chords litter the background as spicy FX add wonderful textures to the sound. A subtle synth note gives a whole new dimension as we continue on this relentless ride through Techno. A definite monster of a track that will have floors jumping for sure.

Tash aka Greek DJ and producer Tassos Papagiannoulis debuts on SRUR with this superb remix. Tassos was surrounded by music as a child and this had a huge impact in his growing. He would go on to organise music events from just 13 years old, late, he would begin to play at many venues in his hometown. In 2005 he formed DJM Productions where he would continue to grow his event roster. Having graced the decks with many very famous DJ’s and played at some of the world’s top venues, Tassos brings a wealth of experience to the table. The remix intros with a flourish as nice and phat kicks a licked with scattered percussions before a smooth synth rises up bringing a Tech flavour. A wonderfully warm driving bass surfaces soon after and gets the track firmly into its groove. A very smooth and rich pad eases into the sound and brings a wonderful, almost uplifting melancholic vibe to the sound before we get right back down to the business end of this Tech stomper. This one will not disappoint.
Moll steps into the remix arena next with his superb slice. Moll’s At The Dawn on Bonzai Basiks back in the summer of 2014 performed very well indeed. He also had a stint on Club Traxx – Dark & Deep 2. Much more to come from Moll so stay tuned. Here he gets right into a Techno flow from the off as bright, crispy hats line up against snappy claps and a muted kick. Cool FX filter through as we are blasted with a superb punchy kick that pounds out a steady rhythm. A warm bass shores up the low end beautifully and leave room for expertly crafted synths to dominate. The break is a masterclass in effects as the mids and highs get put through their paces before we are slammed back into the groove. Tight mixing and a brilliant slice of Techno that will sit well in any set.

Italian DJ and producer Francesco Dinoia delivers a truly sublime Tech cut with his remix. Francesco started to get interested in DJing from a young age, he soon developed the skills needed which also led him into the producing world. After just a few years he has notched up quite an impressive repertoire of releases across many labels. A talent worth keeping an eye on for sure. On the remix he brings his Tech flavours to the fore. The intro delivers a punchy kick with a crispy offset closed hat that brings a sharp edge to the sound. A deep bass sits perfectly on the low end as various percussions and drums provide a solid rhythmic platform. Deep rooted, relentless grooves that are sure to be a firm favourite among many.

Netherlands based DJ and producer Rajiv Jay returns to SRUR with his fantastic remix. Rajiv debuted here back in the Summer of 2014 with Lovers EP which gained much support. He also got a run out on our Muzika Volume 8 which also saw great support. Here he toughens up the groove with a raucous Techno offering. The intro sets off with a solid driving beat filled with low end kicks and sharp hats. A wonderful chord sequence filters up and gets the groove rocking for the duration. Tight drum patterns keep the rhythm flowing as that chord sequence comes to prominence. The break warms up the chords before we get churned back into the main sound. A rip roaring energy driven slice that will have floors bouncing.

Rod B. Rounds up this superb package with his remix. We last saw Rob back in Spring 2014 when he teamed up with JPhilipps on their wonderful remix for Dany Cohiba’s Liquid Cha. Rod does what he does best and injects the grooves with infectious amounts of Tech House that force you to move. The track subtly builds with distant hats and snappy snares before a phat kick takes over. Superb drum patterns bring a steady rhythm before the track breaks to reveal the star of the show. The bass walks through the sound beautifully with its warm tones and groovy licks. A robotic voice accompanies the sound on the main break before we head back into the main track. Stunning effort here that will be a welcome addition in any set.
