Bonzai Progressive BP4232015 16 February, 2015

The impressive Philthy Chit aka UK based Phil Taylor delivers the powerful progressive groover Dichoctic which comes backed up with a remix from Tribal Warriors. Phil is currently churning out top class work as shown in his last release Confabulate as well as releases on other labels including Perfecto Records with more in the pipeline soon. More recently his works have gained popularity with appearances on the chart topping Bonzai & Friends compilation. He remains an in demand remix artist with many requests coming in thick and fast. Check out Phil’s new radio show Perfecto Black on DI.FM which airs on the first Wednesday of every month from 6pm GMT where you’re sure to catch only the best sounds from Bonzai and beyond.

The Original Mix gets us going with a tough, pounding kick and sharp hat intro as metallic hits drop on the downbeat. A cool shuffling rhythm ensues as a deep bubbling bassline takes control of the sound. The deep bass remains a constant while a sub bass filters off to add an edgy touch. A fantastic ‘deep in the house’ vocal wafts through the sound beautifully and adds a great character to the sound. On the break cascading arps take the track deeper into the progressive world resulting in a super tight groove that will hold you in its grip for the duration. Superb stuff yet again from Phil and a must have track for sure.

The Stripped Mix is a much smoother track than its original sibling. The powerful deep grooves remain but with a slightly different drum arrangement that still packs a huge punch as it dishes out a full flowing rhythmic sequence. The cascading arps are still a big feature alongside that deep, solid bassline and house inspired vocal. Definitely not to be missed.

On the remix we have Tribal Warriors aka M.I.K.E./Push who we last saw on Bonzai Basiks with his Defiance EP. 2014 was another big year for Mike as his tracks and remixes gained chart topping status across various portals. Already in 2015 he has some great things lined up including more Push Live which always makes for exciting times. Don’t forget to check out Club Elite Sessions to stay up to date with all the goings on. The remix intros with a muted kick as a wasp-like sound fades through, instantly grabbing your attention. A strong throbbing bass rises up from the depths and is joined by bright, crispy hats and sharp claps which provide a cool rhythm to the sound. The kicks are transformed into nice punchy shots that balances things out beautifully. An intensity builds in the track as synths begin to form up alongside that very cool vocal. On the break the swirling synths are tweaked and filtered into a frenzy before we crash back down with a superb kick and analog synth combi. A proper tech fuelled groover here that is the perfect crossover track into the progressive world.
