Founder of Kiss My Beat Records, Belgian tech house stalwart Ecco delivers a solid artist album on Basiks. With many tunes enjoying full release on labels like Mint & Mustard, Howz Choonz, Creamminal Records, Bonzai Basiks, Eyepatch Recordings and Bonzai Progressive, we are treated to this stunning round-up of his works so far.First up is “Funky”, a quite minimal tech house joint with a cool steady rhythm and an element of funk appearing through some wicked sampling, top stuff.”I Like Dancing” continues on the tech house side with chunky beats and an impressive percussive line. Real cool synth work on the break for this one and a short vocal popping in, quite a bouncy track released on Creamminal Records previously enjoying top support all over.Next up we get brilliant house vibes on “Savana”, which also comes along with a superb effort from Justin Harris and his Deep Grass Remix. Edging toward the deeper side here with a constant hypnotizing bassline topped up with superb kicks and percs. On the break a sublime vocal straggles in the background with great effect, top notch stuff. Justin’s remix beefs up the sound big style, big club friendly groove!”Wild Forest” saw a release on Ecco’s own Kiss My Beat Records, fully charged house with a retro feel, sublime ethno type instruments invade the waves and really captivates the mind, quality.Released on Bonzai Worx Volume 2 (vinyl), “El Carnaval” has had a lot of that support with its tango rhythm and cool grooves. Beautiful guitar and a mesmerising vocal on the break gives this tune big club appeal, what a gem!Next we get “Fresh”, with Ecco’s style firmly rooted to the core of this track. Feels quite minimal yet a lot goes on that keeps you hooked. Solid kicks and well crafted percussion arrangement, deep basses groove along and some brilliant strange sounding synths make an appearance.2011 saw the release on Bonzai Basiks of “Red Wall”, a highly infectious retro sounding banging tune. Heavy kicks are dominant but the main focus here is that retro synth and bass groove, outstanding stuff.Deep house vibes are what “Mosquito” is all about, deep pounding kick and a controlling bassline with some cool acid type stabs build up to the break where a vocal sample takes over alongside some super buzzing synths, solid grooves!”Baobab” delivers a minimal tech house vibe with a slightly tribal element. Super tight arrangement on the drum and percs, we are teased with a cool sounding synth and the vocals work very very well.One of Ecco’s first releases on Basiks came in the form of “Safari” back in 2010. The tech house vibe oozes from this track with some heavy duty offbeat metallic sounding synths backed up with some cool African singing.The house driven “Waikiki” first released on Howz Choonz really delivers the goods, pure solid drive on the drums and percs with the bass providing cool rhythms. Again we see heavy references to world music that fits so so well into the vibe.”Papou” takes us back into the tech sound with ethnic tendencies. Super deep bassline here with the kicks, percs and tribal patterns stoking up the groove into a rhythm frenzy, brilliant.”Run Dancing” is an awesome ride through funky tech house, super cool organ sounds prevail backed up with a real classy vocal.
